Sunday Post #31/ It's Monday. What Are You Reading?

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

This has been a good week, I got a few blog posts up and finished a book I've been working on.
Watching the opening ceremony was something of a frustration- little snippets of the event punctuated by the usual obnoxious commercials. If there was an option to watch these things without NBC's commentary or constant interruptions, I would pay to do so.

  1. I think NBC is live streaming all the events online for free, so you might be able to see what you want there. With the difference in time zones, it might not be helpful though.

  2. Oh I love the stick people. I watched an Olympic sport today that involved skiing and riffles..seriously! I had no idea. Two winters ago we had so much snow that in-between snow falls we did snow maintenance..where you sheer off parts of the snow walls so you can see better backing out of the drive. It was crazy! Have an awesome week

    1. I got a kick out of the stick people thing too! I couldn't help laughing... I'm trying to remember the name of that sport, it's eluding me at the moment but I've watched it too. I like the ski jumping too.

      Have a great week Kimba!!

  3. I am so glad that I DVRd the Olympics. It was an entire hour of talking before the Ceremony began. I was really surprised about that!!

I love some of the geeky stick figure people out there! I don't put any on my car... well I don't want someone to think of me alone with cats and then rob me or something!

Also I got Hogsmeade for where I should live. This surprises me as an answer but it's still cool!!

  4. Eww, that is entirely too much snow. I'm glad that we don't get that much here, we get a lot of more ice. I think it is because our house is between the mountain tops, so it kinda protects the houses here. I bet my kids would love that much snow though. Stay safe and warm. Enjoy your books.

    1. Thanks Jenea, less snow sounds pretty good, although the ice doesn't. Sounds like you guys have a pretty good location, which can definetly help. Have a good week!

  5. I didn't watch the opening ceremony either, as here in the UK, it was early afternoon and I was still at work. Yeah, the Harry Potter/Hermoine/ Ron story… caused quite a stir here as well. For me, whichever couple is the 'right' one, I think it was just the way she came out with it, took a bit of the magic away for me. Like… 'I've created it all, and I could have created it differently.'

    1. Yes that is definetly a touchy subject with fans, and understandably so. I have not read the books, so when I do I'll have that in the back of my mind... not sure how I feel about that! :)

  6. I'm afraid I don't like watching the Olympics...probably because of the extra stuff. But using the DVR is a good idea.

Enjoy! And thanks for sharing...here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

    1. Thank you, I know I wish I would have DVR'd. Never done it, have to get with the times I guess! Thanks for stopping and have a great week!

  7. Greg, the bumper stickers are very funny! And I agree about the Olympics, the commercials, and all the interviews. We DVR'd the opening ceremonies which helped, but what is really irritating is that so far NBC keeps repeating some of the performances and in some cases have different commentators. It's very irritating to suddenly realize I'm watching something from earlier in the day. Of course, this probably means I'm watching too much Olympics...

Good luck with the snow and have a good reading week!

  8. I haven't been watching the Olympics for the last few years. Mostly because of the over-hype and too many talking heads. I'm content to see a highlight or two on the news.

  9. I haven't been paying attention to the Olympics at all. I tend to just watch the highlights like Catherine.

Hope you have a great week.

  11. I totally agree with your NBC comment. I hate their coverage and I hate their commentary, it's usually completely pointless anyway. I'm glad you're enjoying the games though. I'll have to check out the SW rumors.

  12. I am laughing at the fact that you have snow. It rained the whole weekend over here and the snow is almost gone. I just hope it doesn't come again. BEGONE SNOW. NO ONE WANTS YOU :P

I was over the moon to see Rowling's article because I am one of those people who shipped Harry and Hermoine but I don't understand why fans are so pissed off. :/ I mean as an author she is allowed to admit she made a mistake and no one can change the ending either way. It's not like she is going to go re-write the last book. Also she is not 'shitting' on Ron.

Have a great week, Greg! :)

  14. I share your frustration about the olympic coverage and have actually been trying to keep up using apps. Not great because it means I'm watching on a tablet instead of my TV, but the coverage is just really frustrating.

And I hope you enjoy(ed) The Treachery of Beautiful Things - I saw it a while ago and thought it sounded good! Hope you've had a good week so far :)

    1. Thanks Berls. Yes the coverage is frustrating, although I've been watching a lot of it! I really get into the Olympics even though the coverage can drive ya nuts!

  15. My husband and I enjoy the rare moment we get to catch Olympic coverage. Mostly, that's amounted to watching skating and skiing.

The commercials actually struck me as being better than those during the Superbowl. That doesn't mean they're great, but I've liked a few of them. :-)
