Sunday Post #275

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

So... December. Can I just slow down this time thing and have a nice leisurely December? You know, with lots of time to acquire gifts and whatnot- cause you know this month is gonna fly. I haven't started any shopping as of yet. And for all of you that are done already...

I mean I've got time, riiight? In other news I'm on the next Kitty Norville book- have I found that elusive urban fantasy series that I love? I think maybe! I like her understated humor and the slow- bubbling romance- it's still pretty much in the background and I know from snooping future book blurbs where it probably goes- but yeah. Anyone else love these?

This past week I reviewed Camouflage (thanks to Kimba Caffeinated for that) and I'm hoping to have a Movies That Suck edition of Gremlins up soon. Christmas mayhem! Oh and One Million Years B.C. will also be joining the pantheon of Movies That Suck, I'm happy to report.

  1. A nice leisurely December? BWAHAHAHAHAHA! ;-)

Very nice art pieces this week, as usual I love the Star Wars themed ones. And LOL at that last picture, that might be the best Archie cover I've ever seen. That is on epic backhand, remind me never to piss off Vampire Veronica.

    1. I know, right? Like THAT'S happening. :) And right? Vampironica is laying him OUT. I love too the little blurb, where she calls him a freak. Dang Veronica!

  2. LOL If only December could be nice and slow ... I'm not even half done with my gifts, and I'm not sure how I'm going to get it all done.
I hope you're enjoying your weekend, and that you have some good books and TV shows to keep you company :)

  3. Oh boy, I was *just* commenting on another blog about the madness of December and how we run ourselves ragged and never even really enjoy it. I'm purposefully trying to say "no" to some things this year and taking on less. We *don't* have to go to every gathering we're invited to, the house *doesn't* have to be fully decorated, and the Christmas lunch *can be* simple and easy. I hope we both manage to slow down and enjoy it! Looking forward to the Gremlins commentary! :)

    1. I agree- we DO run ourselves ragged. That may be why I haven't started my shopping yet- I'm trying to slow down. Although I better get w/ it! But I think you have it right- slowing down and enjoying the holiday is key!

  4. I very much enjoyed the Kitty books-I love the radio show, Rick, the side characters and kitty herself. Books 5, 6 and 7 were my favourites!

  8. Kevin is off for the month and we planned a trip to NC that we had to cancel because of a snow storm :-( But we too Fonzi to the beach and to look at Christmas lights and had a great time.

I haven't started Christmas shopping either but I NEED to because all but Kevin has to be shipped.

  11. I was just at the store today stressing over how I have no gifts for anyone. I mean, I plan to write checks, but I like to give a little something. --sigh-- Gremlins!!!!!! I was obsessed with that movie and Gizmo.

  12. I could use December to slow down too. I LOVED Gremlins movie!!

  13. I’m done shopping already! Mostly because I have a really small family. I can do it all in one day. I would like December to go slow. I have a ton of reading to do. Have a great week!

  14. LOVE the art choices, as always! And I am one of those people who is done with the shopping- though I often cannot help myself and keep buying MORE crap, which I suppose is the downside! But I definitely agree, it is freaking bananas how fast December is flying by already! There's this store here that puts how many Fridays are left until Christmas (like even in January hah) on their sign and... it's TWO, Greg. TWO. I do not comprehend.

  15. December? Leisure? Is that even a thing? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm really glad you because the holidays will be a nice break sorts.

  16. This month always catches me unprepared. LOL A friend loves the Kitty series so I plan to start it. And Camouflage is on my schedule to read next week. Looking forward to it.

  18. I've never heard of Kitty Norville, but I LOVE urban fantasy so I need to look up the series ASAP! Need to check out your review for Camouflage, too.

Yes, December needs to slow its roll! I'm tired! And as far as gifts, I can't/don't want to do the lines and parking battles that go along with shopping this month! I did it yesterday and I'm done. Online shopping or bust. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ha! vicious vampironica ;-) Too much to do in December which makes for less reading time, blah!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Have a lovely week and happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't think December is ever leisurely! There is always too much to be done. And I love that Tatooine Job Fair graphic!
    Have a good week!

  22. See I want December to hurry up and be done but then I am a hum bug...lol. Don't really do much for Christmas around here, I have no kids and it's just me and my dad. My niece and nephew are old enough to not worry about. So don't do much.

I need to check out your Camouflage review! I have been meaning to try the Kitty books but haven't got around to them, glad you are enjoying them.

    Happy reading,

  23. So I shouldn't tell you I am finished Christmas Shopping? lol I still have a few more things to do but I started early. Lots going on this year that has made me need to start earlier than usual.
Love the Dinosaur video. that was funny!

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  24. Oh no! RUN KITTY! And with that I do not mean Kitty Norville, but the cat lol

  25. Ah, December... the deadliest month for me. Work wise anyway. Haven't done any xmas shopping yet. Ooops :D

    Love the pictures <3

  26. ahhh a nice leisurely December, yes please. I like that gif lol. I did some online shopping Cyber Monday but still have to get to the mall soon.
I LOVE Gremlins, such a classic. Happy week, I'll have to check out your Camouflage post.

  27. I start my Christmas shopping in February. Not even kidding. I buy a couple of things each month that way I'm not hurrying at the end of the year. lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. So many interesting images to contemplate...as I study them, I go into the zone...LOL

Enjoy your books, watching movies, etc., and thanks for visiting my blog.

  29. Leisurely December :D ahaha, you have got to be kidding me :D I don't remember a leisurely one since maybe 5th grade :DDDDD

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've not gotten very far on my shopping either so you're not alone, lol. Oooh, Gremlins. That was actually one of my favorites when I was a kid (I even had a cat named Gizmo!) so I'd be curious to see what I think of it now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. We're already finished shopping before the kids, because we started last December! Hah! We see things we think they'll like, buy them, and put them away for later. The hard part is shopping for my in-laws, and my husband is very unhelpful when it comes to his parents. I just want to buy them dinner and be done with it. We'll figure it out, but some of it might be very last minute.

A vampire on Riverdale? Hmm. I'm still trying to figure out what the Gargoyle King is, and why he needs sacrifices. Why the flark would you want to ascend anywhere if you're likely to die in the process?? Ethel (on the show) has lost her ever-loving mind. I'm super pissed that Jughead hasn't realized that something is wrong with Betty. She might good at investigating, but she's always had help. Now she's alone with crazy people who are drugging kids for unknown reasons.

  32. I always vow to have my shopping done by Thanksgiving, and it never happens... I have the first in the Kitty series on my TBR shelf, so I'll probably read it at some point! Glad to know you're enjoying it; that will bump it up the priority list. I love the art of Susan and Aslan, and plan to check out the artist's other work when I have time. Meanwhile, I need to get back to work. Thanks for sharing my tea break, and have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ah, Gremlins! I haven't seen that in forever. Can't wait to revisit it through your Movies That Suck post soon :) Hope you have a great week, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I feel the same! I need to stop time and buy all the gifts! Hope you will have a great week and manage to do some Christmas shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I tried to get my kids to watch Gremlins last weekend, and they weren't into it. WHAT. Lol. I love that movie. Granted... I haven't seen it in forever... :)

  36. I'm doing so-so on my shopping. I definitely have a lot left to do, but at least I've made some headway. Of course, every year, I'm still always scrambling at the end.

  37. I don't really do a whole lot of Christmas shopping. I usually get mostly gift cards or cash since there are a lot of teens/young adults in the family and that is what they really want. I think I have the first couple Kitty Norville books so I am glad to hear that you are enjoying the series. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't believe we are already a week and a half into December!!! It is already flying by! You better get started on your Christmas shopping! And I love the pics you included this week!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I usually start my shopping pretty early, but it always seems to drag out. There are always at least a couple people who are impossible to shop for.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've read and enjoy all the Kitty Norville books. The question is what do you need in UF. My favorites are Kate Daniels, Mercy Thomspon, Jane Yellowrock, Harry Dresden. The Chicagoland Vampires, really there are so many. All of those have a bit of humor or I wouldn't enjoy them as much.

Dream on. I don't think any month will ever by leisurely, and especially not December. But good luck! I did mostly Internet shopping this year. Except for my knitting / sewing gifts.

  41. hahahaha! I always have my shopping done before Thanksgiving. I know, super overachiever over here! haha I just cannot stand shopping between Thanksgiving and like the third week of the new year... You totally have plenty of time! Even for online shopping :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am so glad you are enjoying the Kitty Norville series. It has been awhile since I last read a book in the series, but I do enjoy it. I am with you about December. I wish it would slow down. Or maybe it's just I am too busy and there's not enough time for all that must be done. I hope you have a wonderful week, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I haven't started either. No shopping. No decorating. My weekly update

  44. A good urban fantasy series is something to relish. My goodness its the 10th already, where is December going to! Its racing!! All the best with the shopping.

  45. Well, I was done shopping, but I got this crazy idea to celebrate the 12 days of Yule and came up with a gifting schedule... ๐Ÿ˜‚

I feel like I'm living in that scene on this week's pulp fiction. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

    Have a wonderful week. ๐ŸŒž

  46. I have been so busy this weekend, I forgot to go blog hopping! Love the Susan and Aslan photo. The Chronicles of Narnia is one of my favorite series. HOpe we survive December.

  47. A nice leisurely December - now wouldn't that be great? I'll sign the petition if you want to make this an internet sensation - put it to the Timelords in a way they can't ignore...

And yes - I also enjoyed the Kitty Norville series, though I didn't read them all. And if anyone else tells me how organised they are (baubles are littering the hallway floor as I type) I'll stamp my foot and scream and scream and scream! Have a great leisurely week, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm hoping the rest of the month goes smoothly -- we'll see. I really need to get back to the Kitty Norville books; aren't they good?? I think Hopeless Optimism is my favorite this week.

  49. Veronica makes a good vamp and I LOVE "Well....s**t." Awesome pics.

  50. Every year I tell myself to slow down in December - but it never happens!! I did a lot these first ten days though, so I hope I can put on the brakes a bit now...

Hmm, I am intrigued by this Kitty Norville series. I love urban fantasy usually. I will have to check it out!!

  51. Gosh, I used to love those Archie comic books. Devoured them like candy. Your new book The Gone World looks interesting.

  52. I wish December would slow down a bit. There is just so much I have to do, as well as so much I WANT to do and sadly, not enough time. Good luck with Christmas shopping though. I'm trucking along on that front...and I mostly know what I still need, so that's a plus, right? LOL

  54. If it makes you feel better I haven't gotten any shopping done except for two mugs I had to order ahead of time for teacher gifts. I'm hoping to go out Friday for a bit of a shopping spree so fingers crossed! I don't think we'll have a leisurely December but maybe we can hope for a leisurely January? Hope you have a great week!

  55. I like the Kitty Noville series too. I began reading it when it was first published but have a couple on TBR mountain still to read. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ooh that's awesome if you've finally found a UF series you love! I know how much you've been wanting to! That dino video was so unexpected, I could never predict what would happen next lol.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Kitty Norville series is high on my TBR list! Glad you're enjoying it so far!

Gremlins is so awesome... A lovely non-traditional Christmas movie. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  58. I'm a deal hunter and have lots of chrome extensions to get the best bargain, so I only have three people left to shop for thank goodness. Seems like more and more people are shopping online, so you definitely have lots of time. I agree, once December kicks in it really seems to fly by. Hugs and happy reading! RO

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you figure out the slowing time down thing, please let me know! The only Christmas shopping I've completed so far is getting my kids' presents. My only saving grace is that we don't celebrate with my family until February, so I've got time for that. LOL. Hope you have a great week. - Katie
