Sunday Post #211

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I love short weeks. I didn't read much, spent most of my time on Netflix and cruising blogs. I'm on season 2 of The 100 and am still watching Continuum as well- both are favorites.

The big news this week is obviously Hurricane Irma. I hope everyone who is in the path stays safe.

Last week I reviewed Wreck. And On The Run XI will be up on Monday.

  1. Yay for a short, chilled week :) Visiting blogs and watching Netflix sounds perfect.

Glad you're still enjoying The 100! I really need to continue with it sometime.

Looking forward to your review of One Dark Throne! Have a great week ahead, Greg.

I really liked One Dark Throne!

  2. Interesting post as always! I watched the movie Vertigo but I didn't enjoy it that much, so I'm not sure I would be keen on reading the book. Short weeks are the best, especially when you get to stay home and not go to work. ;)

    1. Exactly! And I've never seen Vertigo, but I should watch it just so I can say I've seen!

  4. Short weeks are great. Since I was on vacation last week, it was so nice to only have to return to work for 4 days this week. I spent a lot of time on Netflix too and didn't get nearly as much reading done as I had planned. Oops, lol. Hope the upcoming week is a good one for you!

  7. It seems to me that short weeks always seem the longest. It is probably just me. I really hope that Irma isn't as bad as they say it could be. It's scary! Have a great week!

  9. I like short weeks but man do they throw off our schedule, always forgetting which day it actually is. Love the droids :)

  10. I'm kind of curious about Gypsy. Now that GoT is over for the season, I definitely need to get into something new. The Pack definitely looks interesting. Hope you're in a safe area! Happy reading!

    1. Gypsy's okay, it's really slow but kind of interesting? And yes now that GoT is over, I think a lot of us are wondering- what do we watch now???

  11. It was a short week here but a busy one. So I didn't get much reading done. The Pack has a good cover. Have a great week!

  12. A dark selection of art work this week, but I like it! The industrial zone ones are a bit depressing though, apparently even in a technologically advanced future we will still have traffic congestion and tolls :P

    1. That one industrial one was VERY dark, but I loved the Blade runner-esque feel to it. Although I see my link failed- gotta fix that.

  13. I just watched Hitchcock's version of Vertigo and it was so good! I'd love to read the book that inspired it. I keep forgetting it was a short week because so much seemed to get packed into it! I need to do some Netflix browsing. I'm kind of out of shows for the moment. Have a great week!

    1. I've never seen or read vertigo, isn't that awful? And I like Hitchcock. I need to watch it. And I agree- I've looking for a new show on Netflix and not finding much...

  14. Usually my weeks after holidays are long, even if I have to work less days, but fortunately it wasn't that way this past week. I like the artwork you shared this week. Especially the Underground Sea.

I hope you have a great week, Greg. I look forward to your review on One Dark Throne.

    1. I loved Underground Sea! And you're right- a lot of times it's the short weeks that drag the longest. So true!

Have a great week! I liked ODT a lot!!

  15. Obviously I find watching The 100 and Continuum every day to be incredibly valid and appropriate life choices :D Yay for more On the Run! I feel like I am more invested in it than most of the books I read, honestly. Looking forward to your review on ODT, even though I know that you liked it hah.

The cyberpunk video reminds me of Continuum too! Probably because in every flashback to 2077, it's dark with a bunch of hovercraft flying around and someone conducting shady business on a balcony. The New Zealand video is incredible too- that has always been on my bucket list, but damn, that video pushes it even further up the list!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Ha they are VERY good life choices. I'm starting to wonder wha a day would be like without watching at least one episode! And thank you-those are kind words. I hope you enjoy the next few installments. :)

Yes ODT you kinda know my thoughts but it will be fun to discuss some more. I'm really hoping Nicole does another spoilery post lol. And yes I have a thing for cyberpunk! Because obvs. But you're right why it is always dark in 2077???

      Delete
    2. Hahhah now you see why I keep rewatching The 100! I think Nicole will do another spoilery post- I hope, anyway. I assume she will because it has been her most viewed post all year hahah. And I think that they make 2077 dark so our fragile minds can differentiate between present day and future? I have pondered and that's the best I can come up with :)

  16. Wasn't it nice to have a short week?! I ran on Monday, but relaxed otherwise. Vertigo! That was a powerful but tragic Hitchcock! I'm going to check out your review for Wrecked. :)

    1. Yes! I think we should all vote in shorter week - that extra day would be SO useful! And I've never seen vertigo but after seeing that cover I kinda want to. I need to watch some more Hitchcock's because I like what I've seen.

I thought Wrecked was pretty good!

  27. Short weeks are really the best, aren't they? The 100 has been on my to watch list for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I go through phases with TV. Either I watch it non-stop or go months without watching anything, and right now I'm in a watch nothing phase. The Pack looks great. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it! Have a great week, Greg!

I enjoyed The Pack a lot, it's a sequel but a pretty good YA shifter story.

We have been watching Irma on CNN, my family is on the east side of Florida but I have a few friends on the west that I am worried about. I hope they left like the suggested.

My students and I have been really interested in watching and tracking Irma. We do lots of mission trips and they are thinking they might want to go to St. Martin or Puerto Rico this summer to help. I visited St. Martin years ago and it was strange to see the images of it totally destroyed now.

  32. Glad you had a low key week...mine was so crazy...trying to pack 10 days worth of work into 4(I'm short staffed hence 10 instead of 5) Netflix is a godsend though for those nights I am too tired to read.

  33. I've also just been binge watching all the shows (or all the shows that I've been behind on) I'm off from work, so I think it's the best opportunity to do so, especially with some of my shows returning at the end of this month! I will get to The 100 one day! I hope you have another great week Greg!

  39. I love short work weeks. Now that GoT is done I've been looking on Netflix for something else to watch. I hope you have a good week!

  57. The Wreck looks good. Funny, in a weird way, that book was the one that caught my eye, since Irma is visiting this week. Thank goodness it has died down and being in the Panhandle, we don't anticipate much damage. Thanks for thinking of all of us, especially those in the direct path who did suffer major damage.

  60. I didn't read much last week either. Short weeks are the best! But it is back to the normal schedule now. Got word that my family made it through Irma without any serious damage. We've been watching Bosch on Amazon and Longmire on Netflix. Not sure what we will get to next when finished. Got a lot on the watchlist.

  61. I used to love short weeks too, but when you are self-employed, they become sort of irrelevant. What matters is whether you have a project or not. (Not, at the moment, so I had a laid-back week.) But I appreciate them on behalf of my husband, who needs an extra day off now and then!

I loved the Star Wars Fan Droids clip. So cute! Especially the 'droid that faints at the end. And the New Zealand timelapse film is breathtaking. Not only is the film beautiful, I like the soundtracks Martin Heck has been using (or commissioning.)

    Have a great week, Greg!
