Sunday Post #152

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It's been a pleasant- but HOT- week with temps in the 90's. Reading has been okay- I'm getting through about a book a week which is good for summertime. Didn't make it to the beach but there are some festivals going over by the lakeshore. So maybe this week. In show news I'm pretty much caught up on everything, and I'm looking for something to watch on Netflix. I've been binging so much the last few months that I've gone through pretty much everything on my list.

I reviewed The Girls in the Garden this week and it just might be one of my favorites of the year so far. I also talked about Weird Titles in books and had the usual discussion on A Dance with Dragons as well as Bookcover Spotlight. There are a few movies I'd like to see but I never seem to make it to the theater... and the Olympics are getting closer. Two weeks to go!

The Girls in the Garden

This Suicide Squad promo dropped this week and it looks as fun as ever.

  1. Oh kitty!! So cute!!
I have recently started watching "Lie to Me" on Netflix, and I love it! Only three seasons, but totally worth it, Greg.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

  2. It has been pretty hot here too. It isn't bad when there is a breeze but when it's humid YUCK! I am trying to decide what to binge next. I have too many to choose from! Love that first picture - great view! Have a great week!

  3. LOVE the kitty pictures, OMG ♥♥
It's been hot here as well but more during the end of the week (where I work the most) so I didn't get to beach it this week. I hope you make it to some of those festivals :) I am SO excited for Suicide Squad and Jason Bourne I can't even stand myself XD I'm actually the most psyched for the new Star Trek which I'm hoping to go see over the weekend...I hear it isn't as good as the previous two but I don't even care LOL! The new poster for Rogue One is pretty epic! Have a great weekend Greg!

  4. Cute kitty cat!

I'm am looking forward to seeing Suicide Squad, it looks totally bonkers.

As for the Rogue One pic, if it wasn't for the massive fight going on it could almost be a poster for some tropical paradise!

    Have a great week!

I know, is that poster great or what?

  5. I haven't started it yet but everyone I know has been talking about 'Stranger Things' which is new to Netflix. I'll probably start it after we finish up 'Shameless' (US version).
I'm looking forward to Suicide Squad and Rogue One!
Have a great week, Greg! :)

    1. I watched it and it's pretty good. Very 80's nostalgic.

Suicide Squad and Rogue both look so good! Can't wait! :)

  6. We've been watching more movies lately but don't actually make it to the theater very often unless it's to see a kid's movie. We did see The Secret Life of Pets last weekend and really enjoyed but it is a kids movie. Thankfully it's one that's just really funny! I'm so curious about Suicide Squad and I love the Bourne movies! Well at least the Matt Damon Bourne moves. That is a seriously comfy looking cat. Have a great week!

  7. I've seen the Lisa Jewell book around Greg and think it looks interesting and your comments have made me even more eager to read it!

I was recovering from surgery over the last couple of weeks and wasn't in the mood for reading so bought the first 4 seasons of the TV show Justified on sale. But... then I discovered I wasn't in the mood for watching TV either, so I have those to get to.

    1. I really liked it. I think I first saw it at Laurel Rain's site and then saw a few more reviews, and just sorta tried it... glad I did!

Hope the show is good! And that your recovery is going good too.

  8. Great images! I especially love the photo of the sky over water...and the kitties all cuddled up.

I thoroughly enjoy Lisa Jewell's books, and The Girls in the Garden was a favorite. I ordered a paperback copy of I Found You, by Jewell...and it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my "buggy" blog post.

‘The Girls in the Garden’ sounds like a good read. I also love that cover. I’ll definitely need to check out your review!
LOL!! Love the pictures of the Cat. She/He looks so peaceful. Sigh.. To be a cat!

    1. I haven't been to too many festivals yet this year, so I'm hoping to get to some before the summer runs out. We have a Renaissance festival coming up, and some lakeshore stuff, so yeah...

Girls in the Garden was quite good. And yes she does seem comfy doesn't she? Only a cat. :)

  11. It's too hot for my comfort right now. Even at night. Ugh. I hope this heat wave ends sooner than later. I am glad to hear you enjoyed The Girls in the Garden. It does sound good.

I am looking forward to seeing The Suicide Squad. I am not sure I will be able to see it in the theater, but I will watch it at some point. Like so many other movies out or coming out I want to see. Haha

I love the photos you shared of the cat (so cozy!) and the water.

I hope you have a great week, Greg!

But oh my goodness that is the most adorable cat I've ever seen! I've never seen a cat sleep with a blanket like that, like a human lol. That is just too cute.

  14. I feel kind of lost now, with the tour being pretty much over and the Olympics not starting for another good week and a half. Whatever will I watch as I wait on this baby. Oh right, all those dvd's I still have to see, haha.

  18. Love the cat:). We have just started watching the new series of Dark Matter, which we're thoroughly enjoying and they have started trailors for Killjoy, so I'm looking out for that one. Other than that - it's Himself's turn to have wall-to-wall cricket on, given I was bingeing on Wimbledon not so long ago... I love SMITTEN:). Hope it gets cooler where you are - you can send some of the warmth my way if you like - we are getting more summery weather, but I could do with it a tad less blowy... Have a great week.

  20. It has been really hot here...blah. You should try Stranger Things on Netflix, it's campy but after a couple of episodes I got hooked and it's a short as it only has eight episodes. :)

  21. I've been Netflix binging also! I'm finally watching Breaking Bad, which I'm really enjoying so far! I also recently watched The Night Manager and HIGHLY recommend it! I didn't know much about Suicide Squad before I saw the preview the other day at the theater, but now I'm really excited to see it! Have a great week :D

    Here's my Weekly Recap!

    ReplyDelete
  22. The Girls in the Garden, still looking in my garage for the box with my small amount of kept print books (I donated almost all before moving). I've been eager to read this one, so my search will go on...

Nice photos! Love that coastal shot and your cat, too. Is that the outdoor cat from winter, or one you already had?

I am also ripping through my Netflix shows and looking for new ones. I tried two of the Stranger Things series. It reminds me --and has been blurbed as-- a mix of The Goonies and ET. Very cute and set in the '80s, which is always fun, a throwback show, but not sure how it pans out as it goes along... I just finished Bosch season 2 on Prime, good for those who enjoy gritty LA noir detective stories (based on the Michael Connelly books). I'm watching The Americans on Netflix (originally on FX) but had to stop while granddaughter here, because there is small snips of sensual scenes/nudity in almost every show.

Have a good week and enjoy the end of summer!

  23. There are so many great shows that I hesitate to start new ones. Thanks so much for Netflix! What would I do without it. LOL There's a Harry Bosch show? How did I miss that. Love the series and been reading it for years. Who plays him?

I saw the trailers for Suicide Squad, Rogue One and Jason Bourne when I saw Star Trek Beyond; they look good.

  41. Ugh this heat is oppressive! Today was actually nice, a reprieve from the searing hot we've had. A book a week is good! We've been out Pokemoning - I guess we couldn't stay away from the craze. It's been nice though, a quick walk around a park at night as a family.

I think The Girls in the Garden came in for me at the library! I need to get there tomorrow and pick it up. I can't wait!
