Sunday Post

Thanks to everyone for the comments last week on Covid. So much diversity of thought. Now let's do Trump's arraignment.

Maybe not.

Walking tours are back. Although this is a five hour live streaming event- I like these for all the Japanese things I learn, but who's got the time to watch these? I guess a highlight would be the museum of ramen, but do I want to watch someone slurping ramen (1:58)? Are you, um, supposed to eat it that way?

Here is this week's lyric.
Love isn't always on time

Here is the lyric f/ last week and the answer

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

It turns out that IS how you eat ramen. I had no clue.

One of the Girls... what a thrill ride. I'd been looking forward to this one and I'm happy to report this was not disappointing

  1. Can we not talk about Trump's arraignment and just say we did? LOL The ramen slurping... ugh. I have no idea what the proper etiquette is, but hearing all the slurping makes me cringe. Glad One of the Girls was such a hit for you!

  2. I was going to ask you about the walking tour videos. I need something to watch while I'm on the elliptical lol And YES! you are supposed to slurp ramen!! I learned this in a few ramen foodie shows and also out here where ramen is a huge deal.

Have a great weekend and we'll discuss Silo. lol I think I forgot to give you my update on last weeks ep...

  4. I don't let people talk serious politics on my blog any more. There's one guy who is a dyed in the wool Never Trumper and even though we get along in most areas, he lets that color everything. So I've told him not to talk about that subject on my blog. So we still get along :-D

  5. One of the Girls does sound like a good one. I've got it on my TBR list. Hope you have a good weekend, Greg!

  6. My daughter recently visited Japan and had the best experience. She said it was beautiful and the people were quiet and polite. I think I might need to move there!

  7. The walking tours are interesting. I've never eaten ramen, I'm not a fan of the pork in there like that though and the egg either. Oh gawd, I don't want to get my blood pressure elevated by talk of Trump lol. Happy Saturday!

  8. Oh, the politics are never ending and highways collapsing, fires keep going..you'd think it was the end of the world or something.

That's great about Clarke's book. Good to know! Oh, I was hoping it was the CARS! Well, due to the air quality I am fighting my allergies just to find out the generic nose spray I was using just might give you seizures..actually, the company is going bankrupt and don't want anyone using their products they don't want to be responsible for.

I guess I need more Infinite Space at bedtime (✿◡‿◡)
Have you been watching FROM? My Philly friend was trying to tell me about. Her and her sister think it's the best, but I am not sure it's my cup of tea.

Recently, a friend did get to Japan and was wowed by all the cat cafes and the squirrel parks.

Hope you have a wonderful Father's day! Here's hoping the KIA doesn't get stolen again so we can have a nice outing at our favorite Mexican food place.

Thanks for your comments! & all the best to your writing and creativity! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

    1. Thanks for reading! & your comments. Oh, I had to get some Vanna and Koda in the mix! & of course, Tristan & Nic's farewell too. It looked like it was going to rain here, but then it didn't. The longest day is coming up on the 21st. I thought it had already happen. Really, it feels like the month is flying by.

Hope your girls are treating you good. Here's to a lot laughter and good times this weekend. ❤️🧡💙

    2. That's awful about the AC. I hope you are finding a way to stay cool. We have been high and dry here. Maybe a chance of showers on Saturday. Thanks for your comments. Hope you get a good burger too and a chance to be in the pool too.

    3. Glad the AC is back for you. I hope it all goes well and you have a very relaxing weekend 💗💗💗💗💗 I love that James Spader bit in this post. Funny, I got a post card from his fan club decades ago..it was part of my write a celebrity a fan letter project. And well, I thought he was the BOMB then..and still think he's an amazing actor!

  9. Your comment about the walking tours really struck a chord with me. It's one of the reasons why I don't watch or listen when I can just read. Who has the time, right? I stopped watching TV in 2019, so I am not even sure I could sit that long to watch even if it's captivating.

  11. I'm glad you liked the book :D

  12. Your rec of Girls made me check it out and I agree, it's one of "those" books that can be so damn captivating, so it's on my list now. Who's that author that's written several of these remote locked-room type books? Hmmm....(had to look it up) Lucy Foley - hers are consistently good.
    Have a terrific week!

  17. LOL is that how you're supposed to eat ramen??? I absolutely love these delightful Sunday posts :)

  18. That cover of One of the Girls is amazing. I don't talk current politics on my blog at all. Too divisive. Now, politics from 50 years or more ago is fine. That's historical fiction.

  19. Don't start me on Trump and politics Greg. Living in Europe, I have a very strong opinion about it. And I can't understand how the US that used to be the land of freedom is going backward. Sigh. Anyway, happy Sunday!

  20. Don't get me started on politics as I think Biden should be the one in the hot seat.
I am glad you like One of the Girls, you enjoyed it more than me as I was bored most of the time...lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  21. Urg! I shan't be telling my elder grandson that yes... slurping is the way to eat ramen because he's fond of it and I've been busy telling him NOT to slurp! And as for politics - frankly I'm wondering if we should just tow the lot of them - both sides of the Atlantic - out into the middle of the ocean in a small boat and just leave them there. Because here we've got BoJo huffing about the findings of the Parliamentary Committee of Priviliges that found him guilty of lying to Parliament over the parties he held during lockdown. Is it just that I'm becoming a grumpy old woman - or are the politicians we're lumbered with these day so much worse than they used to be (and yes... I'm including Tricky Dicky in that discussion!) I hope you have a great week, Greg.

  22. One of the Girls looks like my kind of read! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Also, I was thrilled to hear you started the Verity Kent series! Such a good one! I've never had proper Ramen, only the store bought kind. Must give a try sometime. Hope you have a lovely Fathers Day, Greg! :)

  23. Lol, I don't think I need to watch someone else eat, especially slurping. You find the funniest videos! Hope you have a good week!

  24. The walking tours seem like something nice to have on in the background, and you can kind of go in and out.

  25. It's always a good feeling when a book lives up to our expectations. So glad you enjoyed it! And of course I went straight to 1:58 in that video. Lol. :-)

  26. No I certainly don't want to watch someone slurping! Ick! Have a great week!

  27. I bet there's lots of diversity and that can be interesting. I hope Trump goes to prison for his crimes. Innocent until proven guilty of course, but he cheered on the terrorists beating police officers and smearing shit in the capital buildings. He can't keep his mouth shut on the documents he shouldn't have but insists the state secrets are his to give away. I'm not a fan. I've read Earle Stanley Gardner in the old days.

  30. One of the Girls sounds awesome, I'll have to check it out. I feel like those long walking tours are best "watched" as background while you're doing something else! Have a good week, Greg:-)

  31. My favorite thing about these comments is knowing whose blogs I now need to frequent, and whose I can blissfully ignore bwhaha. Obviously, you know where I stand with that absolute shitstain, but we had a lovely Father's Day debate about that of course. My mom usually shuts it down, but since it IS Father's Day, she let my dad and my brother fight (it really is my dad's favorite pastime bwhaha) but then she felt sad later because she doesn't understand how she raised such a bigoted asshat, so. He legit asked us why we don't move to Europe and I was like "because we aren't all wealthy enough to randomly move countries?" I cannot.

Speaking of, Happy Father's Day! Also, I love the walking tours, but I also kind of wish they'd perhaps be condensed into a highlight reel or something? I mean, they're great, but I barely have time to breathe, let alone watch 5 hours. Also I want to go to Japan.

  32. I think I'm good not watching people eat but the rest of it looks fascinating! Adding One of the Girls looks amazing and Lucy Clarke is an author I've been wanting to read. Have a great week!

  33. It's more like you can ramen that way, but you don't have to. Thank goodness. 😅

    Happy Father's Day! 👔

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  35. Walking tours are fun to watch. Also, this is the first time I've seen any mention of One of the Girls. I checked out the synopsis, and it seems like an interesting thriller. Have a great week!

  36. Thrilled at the arraignment and hoping for more xD I had to get used to the slurping of noodles when I lived in China but then realised it's an excellent way of cooling the food down before you get it in you. And 'One of the Girls' looks great, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for dropping by my post and I hope you have a lovely week :) Juli @ A Universe in Words

  37. I will be very glad when the day comes that we don't have to talk about Trump at all. Please let it be soon! Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  38. Yes, you're supposed to suck in air while slurping up the noodles because it helps them cool down and bring out the flavor at the same time. :)

  39. Ramen = sodium overload. Even if I enjoyed it, I would have had to give it up decades ago.

Great books this week, Greg. Need to check out One of the Girls.

  40. I had to go back and read your covid post. I guess I'm a few weeks behind. Hmmm if I had to pick politics or slurping not sure which one I'd take :)

  41. I love walking tours, though mostly to watch in the background - five hours of focused watching is a bit much, though I am curious about the ramen slurping :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, boy! Look at you trying to be all controversial! lol.
    Slurping is gross!

  43. That Pulp Fiction cover. Such an interesting art form.

  44. I've done walking tours when I've visited new cities or countries but I've never thought of watching them online like that. It's a really cool idea and mabye I'll do that before I go visiting anywhere new.

  45. I like walking tours, especially of places I'd like to visit and can't.

  46. I have yet to slurp ramen like Naruto but I do want to try it out someday just to say that I've tried it! :P

    ReplyDelete
  48. A walking tour is a cool idea, but yeah, I'm not going to watch that for five hours. I guess you can just sorta drop in and out while it's streaming? Or check out the parts you're interested in later? Love the update on how that apparently is how you're supposed to eat ramen lol.

  49. As an Asian person, I've been so used to growing up around people slurping noodles it mostly doesn't even register when I see/hear it, but I can see how it bothers people here, since culturally it's seen as rude and disgusting. In some Asian countries though, slurping loudly can actually be a sign of compliment to the chef!
