This is just a very elemental scene, I think Frazetta was a master at drawing a savage prehistoric world. He also liked to draw his characters in buff.
I used to read stuff like this as a kid and I really liked it! Not sure how it would hold up today- but we need more YA in a prehistoric setting. Maybe?
Yes, maybe we do! Ivory and Bone is coming out in June - it's set in prehistory with mammoths and all that so I'm pretty excited to see what that's like!
To be honest I don't think it's very good by todays standards. :) I have an old copy of this somewhere and they're kinda silly (they were written a long time ago) but they're pulpy adventure and not bad I guess. I mainly like the cover on some of them because it's such a different art style (and Frazetta was known for his stuff like this) but I'd really like to see a more modrn take on it- that might be a fun book. :)
Woah, you're right: this is quite savage and prehistoric! It's different. I like it. You don't see many covers like this^^
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting cover but almost looks like something I would get for my son than for myself
ReplyDeleteLove it! I like modern covers but I think I love the vintage-y ones more!
ReplyDeleteI kind of really like this! I love prehistory - it's so mysterious and it makes me wonder.

DeleteReally? Awesome! I wasn't aware of that one, I'll definitely add it. I'd like to read a good YA in a prehistoric setting
DeleteWhat an interesting cover. This series looks good.

DeleteI like the nature more than the man fighting. Looks like a dangerous world. :)
