Sunday Post
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
It looks like fall now! The leaves are gold and drifting lazily through the air, the air is crisp and clean and the winds are blowing. I love this time of year and it's nice to see the pumpkins out. The month is going by fast though and it will be November soon. November means SciFi Month and I've been preparing for that.
This past week was another busy one on the blog. I shared a discussion post on Blogging Vs. Real Life and had some great responses. I also finished Guaranteed to Bleed and enjoyed it a great deal- review on Tuesday.

It's fall here too, with the leaves changing color and falling, pumpkins and apples everywhere, and crisp air.
ReplyDeleteFor TV shows, have you tried The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Primeval, Outcasts or Survivor (not the reality show but the BBC dystopian).
I have not tried The Flash even though I watch Arrow (and was S3 silly- yeesh). Maybe I should... SHIELD I gave up on in S1, but I've heard it's better. The other three I don't know... mm I'll have to check them out. Thank you for the suggestions- I keep seeing shows on netflix but not sure what to try next. :)
DeleteOh yeah, I'm looking forward to sci-fi month :) Wonderful pics on Deviant Art and it was a lot of fun to re-watch the Star Wars chase ! I couldn't advise you too much about series, I've started watching the new seasons of Supernatural, Dr Who, iZombie and I'm only watching the previous season of The walking dead. If you have time to check, watch the one and only season of Almost human - I'm so disappointed it was cancelled, it was very good. Enjoy your fall week-end :)
ReplyDeleteMe too. I enjoy some of those highlights as well... thank you for the rec, I need some! I'll check that show out!
DeleteAutumn is very much here in Scotland and it is beautiful, my drive to work goes through valleys and then up with the mountains in the distance, it is all kinda Lord of the Rings (well apart from the cars and the houses....). Looking forward to SciFi month too.
ReplyDeleteIf you get You Me and the Apocalypse in the states watch it!
Have a great week!
I'll bet Scotland is beautiful this time of year- and if it looks anything like LotR- awesome. Sound like a nice drive.
DeleteI'll check that show out, thank you for the rec.
Oh Sci Fi month... I think I've mentioned before that I don't read Sci Fi but I love watching it. Not sure what that's about?!
ReplyDeleteIt's Spring here and trees are luscious and flowers are out. It's quite pretty.
You know, it's funny I like sci fi to but to be totally honest I don't actually read that much of it either, anymore- and if I do it might be a YA. The old stuff just bores me, and I don't see much new. That interests me anyway. I've been enjoying scifi TV more to be honest, like Continuum and stuff.
DeleteYou have some great photos! And I love seeing the pumpkins around, too...soon it will be All Christmas, All the time, and I am not ready.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, and have a great week.
Here in Florida it's getting cooler but everything is still green - it's pretty disconcerting but also funny to see palm trees with xmas lights on them hehe!
ReplyDeleteSooo many books listed here to add to my wishlist! I'm building new bookshelves at the moment, and I'm going to be glad of the extra space.

A Captain Marvel book sounds promising (hopefully)! I would love to see your thoughts on The Chess Queen Enigma!
ReplyDeletehttp://dualreads.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/sunday-post-18th-september.html
I think so too, with the Black Widow book and now this one maybe Marvel will get it together. I'm hoping to finish Chess Queen this week!
DeleteLove the pics Greg, the Chess Queen Enigma looks interesting. Sci-Fi month should be good. Have you tried Orphan Black or Blacklist?
ReplyDeleteI have not tried either of those, but I think I'm going to take the plunge on Orphan Black. I just watched the preview recently and it looked really good...
DeleteEverything is dead hear, so t's pretty much all brown. That totally a fall color, so it counts. lol. Have you watched Humans? I like that show. I'm watching the 2nd season of Orphan Black now, and it's really good. I didn't even know it was sci-fi when I started watching it.
ReplyDeleteI did watch Humans, and liked it a lot. I am hoping a second season comes along...Orphan Black is one I somehow missed, but I've heard it's good and the trailer looks fun. I think I might try that one next.
DeleteDeviant Art has such talented people.
ReplyDeleteAs for tv shows, have you ever tried Stargate SG-1/Stargate: Atlantis or Fringe? A few of my favorite series even though they are a bit older.
I have been thinking of Stargate actually as I've heard good things. So maybe I will give that a try...
DeleteI love watching the leaves falling down, it's so peaceful. Like you I love this time of year and I love pumpkins just as much! Have a good week, I like the look of your new cosy.
ReplyDeleteI do too...
DeleteThe art is amazing and it sounds like you are busy, busy, busy. I used to be a huge Star Wars fan, but now...
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental My Sunday Memes
At home, in Switzerland, the leaves have just started to change color, it's quite late for that, because a lot of the leaves have already fallen from the trees. I hope to see some spectacular colors when I get back home, though.
ReplyDeleteThose deviant art pictures are beautiful! And even if they are very sci-fi like, they also seem quite realistic, which is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Beautiful images! I love the sci-fi one on the beach :D really picturesque.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to autumn too. When I left for holiday - green leaves. When I returned - colourful fallen leaves... whaaat?! Can't complain though, it's one of my favourite seasons :)
What kind of tv series do you like? If you like historical, try the Borjas, the Tudors or the White Queen :) I don't really watch a lot of tv so I'm not much help there :( lol.
Have a great week!
Amy x
I hadn't heard of Continuum. When I looked at the link it took me away from your blog though.
ReplyDeleteI love the Arthur Rosa paintings. At the first one I thought, "low tide! better get off there before the tide comes back!" Then I looked on and saw the single figure in all but the watermelon pic. Interesting.
Continuum is awesome, but I really like the actress playing the main lead. And she plays off well against the other time travelers arrayed against her (they're at cross purposes). It really is a smart time travel show, I think.
DeleteI didn't even notice the rocks being wet towards the bottom, naturally low tide! Didn't even thin of that! Ha ha.
Arrow Season 4 is interesting so far. I am hoping the show goes in a good direction. Right now both Arrow and The Flash seem to be providing set up for the new spin off series.
ReplyDeleteAs far as new series to try, I liked The Flash (more humorous and lighthearted than Arrow, it's kind of like Spider-Man versus Arrow's darker Batman feel). I also wonder if you'd like some of the historical mystery series on Netflix like the Miss Fisher mysteries based on Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher novels (three seasons on Netflix) or Foyle's War.
Thanks for the heads up about the new Star Wars book. I still have to read Lost Stars. It's on my TBR pile at the moment.
I'm going to take a quick break from Arrow to finish up Continuum, and then I'll probably jump back in, before I get behind again. I have not watched The Flash yet... funny you mention Miss Fisher mysteries, that was recommended to me last week or so as well, and I think I'm going to watch those too. Netflix has 'em. Thanks for the recommendation!
DeleteLost Stars was okay, not great but that's just my take. I've seen people say 5 stars on Amazon so maybe some liked it more than I. And I will read her next one...
Yay for fall :) and I love Arrow so so much. You need to continue with it and you should also check out The Returned it's a French drama series in English subtitles. I know what there was a U.S. version of it but it got cancelled. But the French version is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMegan @ http://readingawaythedays.blogspot.co.uk
I will keep watching Arrow, it's fun. I like the whole crew. And I will look for The Returned- I've heard it's good (the French version).
DeleteI like Arrow, nice eye candy lol. I stopped watching Fringe, can't remember what season when it got too bizarre even for me. Do you watch The Blacklist? Will check out Blogging vs Real Life 2moro, it's midnight here so better get to sleep. Enjoy your new reads, I'm curious about Vicarious.
ReplyDeleteI like Arrow, it's fun. S3 did get a little out there, all the twists and turns, but it is fun. That seems common, I love Continuum but it got a little convoluted too. I am so anxious to try Continuum S4 though, it's the final episodes and I really like. I have not seen The Blacklist. I am going to try a new show or two this week I think, and I'll look at that one.
DeleteWe are having cooler weather here but I am not crazy about it and are leaves are not so pretty. :( I prefer the warm. Hope you enjoy your reads this week!

Week in Review
It's been a gorgeous week here, too, but all that changed last night when it started snowing! Just a dusting for us, but a lake effect snow warning and road closures just to the north. It's coming...
ReplyDeleteWill look forward to your Country Club Murder review. That series sounds so appealing to me.
I'll probably be focused more on Nonfiction November next month, but love the variety of books and events out there. Have a great week!
WE got flurries yesterday but nothing sticking. An area up north of us got 5 inches though!
DeleteThe Country Club Murders I highly recommend, I love that they're set in the 70's. So much nostalgia... :)
I loved Vengeance Road! So I hope you enjoy! How do you feel about Claudia Gray writing a Star Wars novel? I wasn't a fan of A Thousand Skies (to be honest, I couldn't even remember the title so that might not even be right).
ReplyDeleteHere is my The Sunday Post!
I just started it and so far it's good. Man she doesn't mess around! As for Claudia gray, to be honest I wasn't familiar with her before I read Lost Stars, her first Star Wars book. I liked it but didn't love it, but I'll probably read her next one to see what it's like. I'm not familiar with that one you mention, but again Lost Stars didn't wow me.
DeleteI love the DevianArt you are showcasing this week. Is that watermelons and bananas on a beach?? These are great! You are so good in catching up with Arrow. I haven't watched any TV this week so now I'm really getting behind. Vengeance Road sounds really good and I hope you enjoy all your new books. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, I noticed the watermelons but didn't even notice the bananas. Good on you for picking that out! :) I just love the whimsical, sci- fi ish feel of some of those. Otherwordly. And yes I'm up on Arrow now, time for S4. I hope Arrow and felicity are OK.
DeleteLove it as the leaves change colour. Makes me want to stay in and read, which I haven't been doing enough of. I have been watching a lot of TV but nothing I can recommend I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI might give Orphan Black a try, I hear good things about that. And yes autumn is great! :)
DeleteI also like this time of the year, it got really chilly here this week and the autumn leaves are getting even more shades of colour. I am glad to hear you also enjoyed garanteed to Bleed, I hope I can read the first book soon. I hope you'll enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou could always try watching The Walking Dead! I absolutely love that show, it is the only one I don't ever miss an episode of. (Sundays are for TWD, that is all). I am looking forward to your review of Guaranteed to Bleed. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Guaranteed to Bleed now and enjoying it. My review will be posted next week as part of the blog tour.
ReplyDeleteWe had some snow flurries today but I didn't see them. I heard about it from others. It's way too soon for that!
Hope you have a great week!
The fall colors are just beautiful! I have a tree that turned a gorgeous yellow this year. It it supposed to be a nice week. The artwork is lovely. I like the pool maze one. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThey are aren't they? We've really turned this week...
DeleteI liked that one too. The pics were kinda ginormous but the smaller thumbnails just didn't show them in all their glory. :)
Just had a peek at your Blogging v Real Life post, you sure got a lot of discussion going with that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really into Sci Fic but I guess The Martian would fall into that genre and I really liked it!
The boyfriend and I are almost finished with Lost Stars and I've enjoyed it a lot. I think I told you I expected to hate it because of the romance angle, but it's been really good. I wish aftermath had been like this. I'm glad she's getting another book!
ReplyDeleteAlso YES the Captain Marvel book, I'm super excited for that as well! And thank you for posting that speeder bike scene, I really want to watch the movies again soon.
I'm glad you guys are liking Lost Stars. I liked it but didn't love it, but I will be reading her next one. I'm curious about the Capt. Marvel book, Shannon Hale is writing it and that has me REALLY curious! :)
DeleteI am loving this weather!
ReplyDeleteMy husband suggests watching Mr. Robot, The Flash, Stargate, and have you ever watched Firefly? We are huge fans, even though it is such a short series.
Thanks for the suggestions! I've heard of Mr. Robot, and I'm kinda interested in Stargate too. I know it was on for a long time. I've never seen Firefly, although I know it has a lot fans. I will look into those... :)
DeleteI love all your flashy pics today-- Deviant Art, gorgeous! Glad you are getting to enjoy Fall. I loved your discussion of Real Life vs Blogging but am posting here instead of on that one. Blogging IS real life, but it is a separate entity in some ways. I don't have anyone who cares about what I'm reading or can recommend a new book I would enjoy. I have online friends here I've never met but have grown to like and know so much about them. And I might be one of those you talked about who reveals mental issues online, lol. I don't mind putting it out there that I live with chronic depression and anxiety, have all my life but only diagnosed as an adult and now doing better on medicine. I'm not ashamed-- I was born this way ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Greg.
p.s. for a tv binge selection-- have you ever watched Lost? After my surgery a couple of years ago I watched the whole darn thing in a short time frame, ha!
Thank you Rita! You actually weren't who I was referring to, there were some mental health stigma posts going around last month that were really honest and good, but I have a lot of respect for anyone who puts themself out there. I tend to not get too personal on my blog cause I never know who's reading it, s when people share personal insights I have a lot of respect. And you're right- nothing to be ashamed of. Some of us have physical ailments, or mental, or both- no one is immune. That's a great attitude to have about it.
DeleteI watched Lost a few times back in the day, but never the whole show.
SciFi month sounds fun! It's tough to resist all of the Star Wars tie-in novels that are coming out. But maybe we don't want to resist them anyway... :)
ReplyDeleteIt feels like early fall here, too, but there aren't a lot of fall colors. I'm afraid we're in for one of those years when the leaves just dry up and fall off without turning brilliant yellow, orange, and red. Gorgeous pics by Arthur Blue (Artur Rosa) - thanks for introducing him!
