Sunday Post #104

This has been a busy week, with lots going on, but I did get some reading in and had a good week on the blog. I reviewed a fun cozy - my thoughts here. I also I've been watching a bit of Netflix too. I'm still watching The 100 and Arrow and enjoying both.

I also posted my first installment of my A Dance with Dragons re- read. I'll be reading and reviewing a chapter a week- this week is Tyrion. Whether you're a book fan, show fan or both, stop by and let me know what you think. This week's post is here. And I also had Bookcover Spotlight- I'm kinda fond of this one.

This week I read The Blue and thought it was great- I'll have my thoughts up on Tuesday.

The Blue: A Novel

And this for fun.

  1. Whoa, lots of links in your post this. I hadn't heard anything about the dating apocalypse but about every decade or so, some variation of that goes around.

Gorgeous pictures of Northern Michigan, the sky is so blue! Just lovely.

    1. I thought that article was interesting, I had no idea some of that stuff was going on. I'm old apparently. :) It is beautiful up north, I pretty much get up there whenever I can. :)

  2. I recognize some of the pictures! I read and listened to four books in the GoT series and need to get back to it. I'm also behind a season on the TV show. Hope this is a great week.

    1. Yeah it's nice up there, isn't it? Haven't been up there much this year, but hoping to get up in the fall.

  3. I've actually just pulled the plug on Arrow in this latest season. It seemed like EVERYONE was becoming a superhero and (bizarrely) it detracted from the originals (well... if anyone can do it!).

    Also I hate Laurel! :-)

    1. Did you? I'm only in the second season so some of that hasn't happened yet, although I know it's coming- I've seen some previews. And I hear you on Laurel- I'm not fond of her either. She was OK but can't make up her mind who she loves- what a merry go round! :)

  4. I have never ventured into Netflix or equivalent. Online streaming has only come to New Zealand in last year or so and I just don't watch enough to warrant it at this stage. I expect though, some time in the future I'll probably go that way.

    1. I've only got into Netflix this year- I'm pretty new to it too. And now I'm addicted, I think!

  5. Thanks for that Korean trailer! Also, thanks for reminding me I haven't read the Hiding Spot's Netgalley interview. The weather had been brilliant here, but alas, yesterday (Saturday) was brutal. I was happy that I didn't have anywhere I had to go. have a wonderful week.

  6. As always, I love your pictures of Michigan / up north :) Busy can be good, right? I hope this coming week will be just calm enough that you won't be stressed, but busy enough so that you won't be bored!
    Enjoy your new books :)

  7. Lucy Clarke is an author I've heard a lot about but never tried yet. Glad you loved The Blue, I think that cover is fascinating.
Now I'm going to check out the GOT link, I really want to know who Jon Snow's parents are and I love any theories about it.

Jon snow's parentage is so interesting, love the main theory and hope you enjoyed the link.

  8. I've read the first three GoT books - it's such a commitment reading-wise but I find the world fascinating.

  9. Not having dated in 35 years (thank goddesses) I don't even understand how it works anymore! It explains the high divorce rate! I would tell any kids I know to real it real and off line.

  13. What lovely photos! I tried to see the Perseids but it was just too well lit in my suburbs I fear and I wasn't too keen on the idea of driving by myself in the middle of the night to the middle of nowhere. Anywho...Hope you have a great week!

  14. Stupid Meteor shower, I saw two and then waited until peek time and totally fell asleep :( I was hoping my son would be able to see one, I guess we can try again next year!

Love those pictures looks like a cozy little place to visit.
Lots of clips to check out :)

Did you see Disney is going to make a Star Wars Theme area/park. My guess is it will be like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I am kind of excited about it :)

I hope you have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

    1. I didn't see any- except in the video LOL! I used to enjoy going out and seeing that stuff- funny how you get busy as an adult and that stuff kinda falls by the wayside. Love looking at the sky.

I had not see that, but it sounds cool. I would go! :)

  16. Great photos! I especially love that one of a bookstore....reminds me of how much I miss them! Yeah, we still have Barnes & Noble here, but it's not the same.

I have Paper Towns on my Kindle, but haven't read it yet. I haven't seen the movie, either, and I will wait until it comes to DVD and after I read the book.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your week.

    1. I love indie bookstores too- and we have some nice ones up north (surprisingly, given that it's not a highly populated area)- it is touristy though so that helps!

  17. Oh wow, great links, book discussion and photos! I wish I was up there in Northern Michigan right now... "sitting on the dock of the bay" anyone old enough to know this song that sing along, lol. The photographer has a wonderful site that I checked out and loved his/hers Autumn pics too.

I want to read that Ellery Adams cozy series and might in next month or so. It just has something a bit extra about it that appeals to me. Thanks for the reminder. And The Blue has an interesting cover and blurb so maybe I will check into that further.

Enjoy the rest of your summer with the fam and the books :)

  18. As usual your photos are beautiful. I had no idea that Northern Michigan was so picturesque. I've heard great things about Arrow but haven't watched it. I'm currently in the middle of an NCIS binge which is reminding me why I enjoy the show so much. The Blue looks interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it. Have a great week!

    1. Northern MI is awesome, and I love sharing it. Hopefully people aren't getting sick of it! It's mostly a summer thing- once the weather turns it gets cold and snowy up there, but in the warm months it's great!

you have a great week too- happy reading!

  22. I love the look of the Incident on the Bridge (I have a geeky obsession with bridges!!) .

I would have loved to have seen the meteor shower but it was far too cloudy here in my part of Scotland.

    Have a great week!

  23. Lovely photos, Greg! I've never vacationed on a lake before, our seaside is so close (2h drive) and the lakes aren't NEARLY as big as Michigan, of course. I'd love to visit this part of the US someday!

  24. I haven't heard of The Blue, but it sounds really good. I love the Michigan pics.

    Have a great week!

  26. My husband and I recently pulled the cable plug...after this past season of GoT. We will be hurting when the next season comes around if we can't watch it! Hopefully HBO will have a way to stream it without a cable subscription by then. I think they've worked it out with Apple already and are supposed to be getting around to the rest of us soon. Enjoy your week!

  27. I've been hearing good things about The 100 tv show. I read the first book though and really disliked it, but apparently it is very different from the tv show so maybe I should giving watching it a go.

Have a good week, and happy reading!

  28. Yay for reading and Netflix! I need to catch up on Arrow before the new season starts, haha. And great pictures, the lake looks lovely (: Hope you enjoy your new books and have an awesome week Greg!

  29. That Perseid Meteor thing was cool! My husband and I were just talking about next year's meteor shower - we were thinking it would be fun to start a tradition of vacationing in the Upper Peninsula during the time of the meteor shower in the future. It's hard to see here where we live - too much light pollution. :(
