Sunday Post #82
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Another quiet week on the blog, I got some reading done and I've been binging on Agent Carter (that show rocks). If you haven't been watching it I highly recommend it, it's a lot of fun.
My Hardy Boys project is going well, I reviewed The Short-Wave Mystery here. I'm enjoying this so much I've sketched out an informal schedule through March or so- in addition to my usual reads, I'll be doing more of these reviews and may include some other ones as well. I read Trixie Belden as a kid so I may give those a try. So keep an eye out for The Mystery off Glen road in the next few weeks. I appreciate everyone who comes by to comment on these- it's been fun to go a bit retro!
I purchased some art from one of my favorite artists this week- you can click here and here to see some of my favorites.
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone celebrating it.
The Attic interviewed Rather Be Reading YA last week.
Read Me away announced their Away To Fairy Tale Land event- you can check that out here.
Fantasy Is More Fun and Books Movies Reviews Oh MY had some fun posts this week- they invited several cozy mystery writers to write competing endings to a mystery setup. Check out their posts- they were a lot of fun.
I couldn't watch the clips (guess I'm in the wrong country), but I'll make sure to watch the show, you got me interested. I'd love to see what you think of the Girl on the train and am glad you're enjoying yourself with the Hardy boys ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good show, I think you would like it. Enjoy, if you get to watch it!
DeleteAgent Carter is on my list of shows I want to watch. They look so fun and I was glad to see that Hulu has them so I'll be catching up on the series soon. I've been enjoying your Hardy Boys reviews and look forward to seeing what you think of The Girl on the Train. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou too, and thank you. I think you'll like AC, it it a lot of fun, nice humor and they are fast. It's a great show and I'll miss it when it's off.
DeleteI saw the first couple of episodes of Agent Carter and I like Peggy so much! But Stark is a bit of an idiot, so I'm hoping we won't be seeing too much of him... I know the whole lone-woman-working-a-man's-job is done this way on purpose, but MAN, it must have been shit being a woman 50 years ago...
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, I like the angle they're playing up with her having to navigate the postwar worls, and the challenges she faces. They're doing a great job with that, I think.
DeleteThe Hardy Boys and Girl on the Train, that's quite a mix.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about Agent Carter but I haven't watched SHIELD, do I need to?
That is quite the mix, isn't it? :) I like Agent Carte a lot, but the other one- not so much. I don't think you're missing much, it didn't do anything for me.
DeleteI really enjoyed reading your Hardy Boys review, it sounds like a fun book. I also look forward to the review for The Girl on the Train,I've been wanting to read it but the wait at the library is so long! I may have to break down and buy it on kindle. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, they have been a lot of fun to read. Very retro... :) And Girl On The Train I got as an ebook, and will hopefully have it done next week.
DeleteGirl on the Train looks so good, Greg, I hope you'll enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Trixie Belden when I was younger, too! I hope you'll re-visit her as well as the Hardy Boys.
Have a great week and happy reading.

Consider it done! I've been thinking about it oo, since I read some of those. And maybe I'll get to The Girl On The train this wek. :)
DeleteYou've got some great reads to get through this brutal weather. Happy reading and watching.
ReplyDeleteMy recap: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2015/02/weekly-book-recap-98.html
The weather has been bad, we're in negative temps now. You stay warm too!
DeleteI wanted to try reading older books that I read when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteNeed to stop by and check out your reviews!
Have a great week Greg!
Yeah, check em out! Ha ha and let me know what you think. The retro reads are fun for me so far.
DeleteI haven't yet watched Agent Carter, but I've enjoyed the previews...I just have way too many shows already....maybe it will be on Netflix later.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Girl on the Train...and Hardy Boys, as well as Trixie Belden.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Hulu has it I think... and ABC. I like the timeframe, the '40's and they do a good job with that I think. A fun show!
DeleteTrixie Belden! I might have to join you in rereading some of those. I loved Trixie almost as much as I loved Nancy Drew.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could do those as part of your retro reads- we could compare notes :) I like how you did recap of your books, I was going to try but like you said, it takes forver. So I'm kinda winging it as I go, but it would be fun to see some othe rtakes on these. Have a great weekend! :)
DeleteI already pulled the book! You can post yours first since mine are more extensive and I'll try to post mine later the same week. The 26th and March 12 are reserved for Middle School Madness, but the weeks including March 5 or 19 would work for me. Just let me know when yours is going up and I'll see if I can fit it in.
DeleteThat's awesome. I can do March 3rd, if that works- if not let me know. I'm lookig forward to your recap style- I like those detailed synopses. I think it'll be fun!
DeleteThat will work for me. Since I do mine on Thursdays, yours will go up on the 3rd and mine two days later. Sounds like fun! I'll go set up my post now so I don't forget it.
DeleteI just finished The Girl on the Train. I plan to watch Agent Carter On Demand. I did see the first episode and liked it very much. Hope you are digging out after this weekend's snow and keeping warm!
ReplyDeleteOoh, did you like it? Buzz seems to be good. And yes, how about these temps? Yikes!
DeleteI keep seeing Girl on the Train. Guess I am going to have to check it out. :-) I am not familiar with Agent Carter. Liked the clips, though. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't seen Agent Carter yet. Maybe I should binge watch that when the season is over. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter sounds good. I can't see your clips as it won't play in my location but I will have to check it out sometime.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books and your week.
It's a great show, if you get an opportunity. I'm enjoying it a lot. Have a great week!
DeleteThanks for the AC clips - hadn't seen it b./c don't watch TV much but this series is appealing. My post is here: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2015/02/sunday-birds-books.html
ReplyDeleteGreg, thanks for mentioning our Mystery event! :) I have been watching Agent Carter but I am a few episodes behind (DVRed) It comes on the same time as my favorite show so it gets recorded. :) Can't wait to see what you think of The Girl on the Train, I picked it up on audio because I heard it rocked so I am hoping it does..lol.

Week in Review
I'm looking forward to Round 2 this week. And AC is good- glad you're enjoying it too!
DeleteI haven't heard of Agent Carter... must check it out. Perhaps it's not here in Australia yet!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you're going to read some Trixie Belden's (I know I mentioned last time I loved them). I worry that I'll read them now and find them SO disappointing (even taking my 35-40 year target age disparity into consideration!)
Deb
YAY, if you go back to Trixie Beldon, I might have to dig my box of books out, that would be fun!! I finished The Girl on the Train last week too. Have a great week and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to, Rathe Be Reading YA and I are going to do the same book the first week of March- mine will be up Tuesday and hers on Thursday. I think it will be a lot of fun. Hope your week is great!

ReplyDeleteMe too, I started it tonight and so dar- interesting!
DeleteI think everyone has The Girl on the Train! except me of course.... Need to track that book down.

Thanks for sharing the journey with us...

Shelleyrae @ Book'd Out
I'd love to reread Bobbsey Twins and Trixie Belden books as a grownup.
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday!
Hooray for Trixie Belden! Can't wait to hear what you thought of The Girl on the Train.
ReplyDeleteI love Trixie Belden! Have you heard of The Dana Girls by Carolyn Keene?
ReplyDeleteAnother girl of Trixie's era solving mysteries is the little-known Robin Kane. This is a post I did about her a few years ago.

Agent Carter looks really good but I keep forgetting about it. I'll have to get caught up on the series.
ReplyDeleteA quiet week on the blog is always nice. I really want to read The Girl on the Train so I can't wait to hear what you think.
Have a great week!
Happy Valentine's Day to you too, Greg. :) I remember when you posted that trailer of Agent Carter. It looked great. I'm just waiting for it to hit...Netflix. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the mystery novels!
I can't seem to play the clips :( Too bad. I haven't seen Agent Carter so I can't wait for your thoughts. Have a great week ♥
ReplyDeleteWeeklyWrap@EverythingNyze
