Sunday Post #44/ It's Monday. What Are You Reading?
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Well this has been an interesting week. I got some reading in but not as much as I would like. Lots of stuff going on in the month of May. Should be busy, but hopefully I can sneak a few books in too. Also Shattered came out this week- book 3 in the Slated trilogy. Didn't even know it was out, I was at Barnes & Noble and there it was. Awesome.
In gaming news, I started playing Star Wars: The Old Republic this week. As if I need more things to take up all my time.

Oh I love it when I wander around a bookstore and am surprised when a book I've been waiting for has been released without you knowing. Hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog.
Sharon
Thanks Sharon. I totally was waiting for this book but must have slipped my mind it was coming out- and there it was. That was cool. :) You have good week too!
DeleteOoo, Shattered has a neat cover! Apparently books popping up happens to me often. I thought some books were already published and they don't appear until later. Then I mistake some books for a different one. It's all a mess really.
ReplyDeleteLOL I've had that happen twice now! Books I was looking forward to, thought I knew the deal, then BAM they were out and I was like, oh. Oops. Guess I'll buy em now. :)
DeleteLooking forward to Shattered, I like that cover too!
Oh I need to get myself a copy of Shattered too!! I loved the first two so let's hope it'll be a great conclusion to the series :) I like the videos too! Great post! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful for the conclusion too, love this series. Thank you for visiting and have a great week!
DeleteI still have to read Slated.. It has been on my shelf for ages now but I just can't seem to get around it. Hopefully during the summer I'll find time to read it. :) Happy reading and have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI really liked it, and the sequel too although I think the first one was a little better. Pretty excited for this one... I think you'll like it, a good summer dystopian read. :)
DeleteCan't wait to read your review on Stoker's Manuscript :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I should have it this week, life keeps interfering with my reading and slowing me down. :) I'm liking it a lot so far...
DeleteThe only Star Wars games I have played are the lego ones - I love running around as Yoda and destroying things. I love it when authors play around with the classics so I'll keep an eye out for your Stoker's Manuscript review :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't played a Star Wars game in ages... just no time these days. That said, I did tackle this one since people at work are playing it... I'm fortunate to work somewhere where games are sometimes played during, um, work hours. :) Pretty easygoing place...
DeleteI'm so jealous.
Deleteoh that's a lot of nice books, I love the covers, and I hope you'll enjoy them. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty happy with the slate of books coming up, and Shattered surprised me by being out already! That's a nice surprise! :)
DeleteShattered! I had the UK one sent to me back last month, was a nice surprise, haven't read it yet though. Wanted to re-read the first two since it's been a while since I've read them. Hope you enjoy it! :) Thanks for stopping by mine earlier.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's good, and that you like it. The UK cover is nice!
DeleteIt's fun going into a book store and finding a book you aren't expecting :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids just got me for moms day Lego Harry Potter and LOTR for the Xbox, I can't wait to play them, my daughter wants to play with me. I have been wanting to play Minecraft with her for a while, I love playing just never have time.
Enjoy all your reads!
Have a great week!!
You had a great book week, Greg! And thanks for the videos of Mackinac--it's on my list of places to visit...a beautiful part of the country.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/05/weekly-book-recap-66.html
The only game I play is Diablo III on the Xbox and even then I don't play all that often since I'm playing with my husband and he works a weird schedule. We'll get even less game time now that the weather is nice for outside work on his days off.
ReplyDeleteI've heard AoS is pretty good, but I'll wait until I can watch it in a row on Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu+. I don't watch a lot of tv though. It took nearly 2 years for us to get through all of CSI:NY and caught up with Bones and Psych. lol We just started Supernatural. :) Hubby and the boys were upset that Almost Human didn't get renewed but are happy Sleepy Hollow and Blacklist will be back.
Speaking of Star Wars though, I don't know if you've seen this video, but it's creative and hilarious. Enjoy! :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N5KyjM5v0c
I don't watch much TV either, and don't even have Netflix! If I did I would probably watch so much more. they say SHIELD has gotten a lot better, but I haven't really seen much of it. Anyway that video is great!
DeleteI'm curious about Shattered...and I love finding books I want at bookstores. Enjoy! And thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou too LAurel, I saw that cover and I was like"oh, that's out now?" Well alrighty then ha ha. Guess I'm not up on my release dates! :)
DeleteI love coming across books at bookstores! I always kind of shake my head when I pick up another hobby. Like I don't have enough to do! Enjoy Star Wars:Old Republic. Very interested in Shattered. Heard good things about the previous books but have yet to read them. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMe too, its dangerous though cause I'll spend a too much in the bookstore! I think you'd like Shattered, the first two books were great (I thought) so I have high hopes for the conclusion! The books are a lot of fun.
DeleteAh, surprise books at the store. :D Such a good surprise when they jump up and go, "Here I am! I'm here, I'm out right now. Buy me!".
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Mackinac Island but I'd like to some day.
Happy reading!
That's kinda how it was too, I was like"oh. You're out. Hello!" LOL!
DeleteThanks for dropping by Bea!
I do love that cover of Shattered, it's beautiful. I did enjoy that video of Mackinac Island, it looks so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and Happy Reading.
My Sunday Post is here
It is a good cover, looking forward to diving into it. :) Hope you're having a good weekend!
DeleteShattered looks great! I noticed that my library just added this series for eBook loan. I haven't read any of the books yet but I did put book one on hold. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the series so far.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific week and happy reading!
I hope you like it! I was pleasantly surprised by Slated, it's a dystopian but a little different than a lot of the popular ones. A good series.
DeleteIf I remember correctly my boyfriend once played a star wars game, I think it was Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I recently have been playing some more games again, this week I played some 'Cook, Serve Delicious', Dwarf Tower and some Sanctum 2.
ReplyDeleteI actually got more reading done this week then I expected, so that was nice.
This is my first time with a Star Wars game, and only the 2nd MMO I've tried. I used to play a ton of games too, but now... not so much. :)
DeleteHi..You got some great books! I lost interest in AoS early on too (I think I watched only 3 episodes). But I'll definitely check out Agent Carter! I really like Arrow on CW and they are creating a new show The Flash, which I can't wait for! Have a great week reading!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I got even that far. It just seemed like a lackluster show, although I've heard it's gotten better. Too late for me though... Agent Carter though, yeah I'm ready for that one! I've heard a lot about Arrow too, supposed to be good...
DeleteI'm interested to hear more about Legacy of the Clockwork Key. Also, Shattered by Teri Terry looks good - I'll have to check that series. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha! Legacy of the Clockwork KEy was my next read, but then shattered came out- hmm. Now what? :) So those are my NEXT two reads I guess- but who knows which I'll do first. Choices...
DeleteI am not familiar with the Slated trilogy but I hope you enjoy Shattered.
ReplyDeleteMackinac Island looks beautiful.
The Slated books are really good, I recommend them if you like dystopians.
DeleteIt's always nice to see a book you want to read all there ready to be bought! I have a couple of ones I am waiting for in June and will be at the bookshop soon as they are out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that's a great feeling. Still amazed I lost track of that release date- was totally not expecting to see that there! LOL
DeleteEven tho I homeschool, I do keep up with the local elementary and the fifth graders just got back two days ago from the trip to Mackinac that they take every year. I guess it was pretty miserable up there still; cold, clammy and 40's. Boats are JUST now starting to get thru the ice b/c they've been parked down here in Port Huron for a few weeks now waiting. Stupid winter!!!
ReplyDeleteI meant to read the Slated books when they first came out - I'll have to check on my TBR and make sure it's on my list :) I have to ask, have you ever read the Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne? Nothing like Slated, it's just a great UF series that funny and I think you'd like it.
Have a great week!!
I haven't read any of those books. But Shattered looks really interesting. I may check those books out. I've played TOR before, but it's been a long time. My husband use to play it all the time, but he got to where he didn't really like it all that much.
ReplyDeleteI love cosplay! I actually have a costume as a JAWA! I love it! :)
Have a great week

I'm finally trying TOR, even though it's been out for a while. I'm having fun with it, but I can see where it would get old at some point- already there's a bit if repetitiveness with running back and forth, some of the quests... we'll see how it goes. A Jawa costune- I love that ! That would be cool. :)
DeleteWow, that island is really beautiful ! The no-car rule reminds of Sark in the British isles. I've just added the Slated series to my list, the blurb looks absolutely great ! Thanks and have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI've added the Slated series to my wishlist, since the first two 'rocked' ... it does sound awesome! Have a good week and enjoy your reads :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like 'em. I liked the first one a little more but they're both good- and there's some nice twists and turns too.
DeleteYou had a great week. Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteHere is my post!!
Thank you! Now if I can just get more reading done... :)
DeleteI'm looking forward to your review of Stoker's Manuscript - it sounds interesting! Also Legacy of the Clockwork Key and Emilie and the Sky World. I keep seeing them in your "coming soon" list, and they both look good.
ReplyDeleteI envy you your gaming time! It's all I can do to keep up with my reading and the blog... and then there's singing and knitting (and we won't even mention work!) I loved playing D&D back in college; this year, my daughter discovered it with her college friends.
Hope you have a great week, Greg!
I got "Round the Bend" by Alistair McGuinness in the mail today. I think it was an online contest win. And a postcard with cover art of "Princelings of the East" by Jemima Pett, signed by the author and dedicated to my two sons. Oh, and I'm a new subscriber to your blog! :O)
ReplyDeleteI think that is the story of our lives as readers: "I read some books this week, but not as many as I had hoped!"
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
It's definely my story, seems like every week I'm saying "read a little but not nearly enough" LOL! Pesky things like work always seem to get in the way. :)
DeleteI've read good reviews for the Slated series. I hope to get to it soon. My son was Up North last week and said it was cold, so they did not go to the Island. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious about the Slated series so I'm looking forward your thoughts on Shattered. Enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Sunday Post :)

I'm looking forward to reviewing that bad boy, since I've been waiting for it (and the release still snuck up on me). Gees wake up Greg!
DeleteI haven't played the Star Wars game, although I did buy it when it was on sale on Steam a few years ago - assuming you are not talking about an updated version. I rarely play games since I took up blogging but I will make an exception for the new Dragon Age game this fall.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't mention the latest GoT episode, but this seems like the perfect place to deliver a rant. I LOVED the episode, but I'm so furious that a commenter on EW.com spoiled the outcome of Tyrion's trial by combat plan. I had some ideas how this would play out, but apparently I was completely wrong. I hate that it was spoiled for me, but I must admit that it sounds awesome.
I would like to play Star Wars especially since it is free to play now. I liked it when I played it at my friends house but never downloaded it at the time because I heard rumors it would be free. Do you live on Mackinac??
ReplyDeleteI like all the photos and videos you show of Mackinac Island. I've always wanted to visit and this makes me want to see it even more!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week!
