Sunday Post #41/ It's Monday. What Are You Reading?
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
This week has been kinda crazy and there hasn't been a lot of reading time. I only really had one day where I got any reading done. There have been some health issues with the parents and that took a lot of time and driving back and forth between cities- I need to get some audio books I guess! So- no reviews last week. I also didn't get around to many blogs but hopefully this coming week will be a little better that way.
I should be wrapping up Seven Wild Sisters soon though and getting a review up- then it's on to the rest of my stack. I keep adding new ones, including some I've been seeing on other blogs- but don't we all? I've been changing up my current reads just a bit too, just for variety's sake. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.
Happy Easter!!!
COMING SOON:
NEW THIS WEEK:
AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE:
George RR Martin has posted a sample from the upcoming World of Ice and Fire on his website. The sample concerns Aegon the Conqueror and an interesting read. Who knows when The Winds of Winter is coming- but this one is due in October.
Could there be a Flash Gordon remake in the wings?
Some updates at Rapid City Recess, a fun blog about northern Michigan. There's other stuff there too, but some of the photography is quite nice.

Oh hey, you got Au Revoir Crazy European Chick. Hope you enjoy it and happy easter! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too! Yeah I got it and hope it's good. I read your review so I'll keep my expectations a little low, and just go with it... it sounds like a fast read. Happy Easter!!
ReplyDeleteYou're way better than me at getting around blogs. I just did a 3 week catch up session. I hope all goes well with your folks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vilia. I try to get around especially on Sundays, even though during the week I don't as much. It's fun to see what everyone else is reading, and I get so many ideas. :)
Deleteso many nice books! I'm curious to see your reviews. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melliane- now I just have to get some reviews up! I was doing pretty good for a while, then work and life caught up to me and slowed me down. :) Have a great week!
DeleteI loved Jurassic Park and Stardust! I hope everything goes well with your parents, it's rough when family needs help and they don't live nearby.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking Jurassic Park so far, it's funny how I really like the movie and have never read the book. What was I thinking?? Should be fun to review. Thanks for the thoughts too, it is hard when family is far away.
DeleteGreat list of books! And when traveling, audio books do sound good. Hope the parents are doing better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog...and enjoy your week.
I really need to do the audio book thing, I've listened to a few but not very many and not lately. With all the time I'm spending on the road lately, it's a no- brainer. Thanks for stopping and have a fab week!
DeleteHope your parents get better, I guess they don't live very near to you. My parents live in a diff country, but only 2 hours on the plane which is ok I guess, but I can understand the stress involved. You know, I've only realised recently that Jurassic Park is a book by Michael Crichton - so embarrassed about this!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and Happy Reading.
My Sunday Post is here
My mom is close, my dad is not. They're both having issues but hopefully all will be well. Thanks for the thoughts, really appreciate it. I've liked several movies based on Crichton's books but never read ANY of his stuff- so this is a first, and a good choice I think. Dinosaurs. :)
DeleteI hope the parents are better. I certainly understand the stress with that. My parents and my mother-in-law have all died within the last few years and it's really hard. We try to visit my father-in-law as often as we can though he lives pretty far away.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a better reading week. I remember seeing Flash Gordon years ago and liking it. A Flash Gordon remake would be fun.
I love that goofy Flash Gordon movie- the music and everything just work. Kinda. :)
DeleteThat is hard, I'm sorry to hear about that. It's so tough when loved ones are far away, hard to help them out...
So sorry to hear about your parents. Hope all goes well with them soon and things return to normal for you. I am in the minority in that I don't do audio books; I need to read the print to understand the story better, I guess. I loved the first Jurassic Park movie and hope that book lives up to the movie quality. I loved Runner by Patrick Lee! Happy Easter to you and enjoy this weekend with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita, happy Easter to you as well! I've done a few audio books before but not many- and I'm always afraid too I won't really get all the details if I'm only listening. But maybe I would... I may try.
DeleteHope your parents are feeling better. Great books this week. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteJenea @ Books Live Forever's Sunday Post
Thanks Jenea, happy Easter and you have a great week too!
DeleteSounds like you had a very stressful week. Hope the health situation improves quickly and that life settles down a bit. I've recently started listening to audio books again after a long hiatus, and am happy I've done so. My latest thing is to listen to the book I am also reading in print. I'm thinking this strategy will help me finish books with a deadline sooner.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a smooth week ahead, with lots of extra reading time.
My Sunday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/04/weekly-book-recap-63.html
Thanks Catherine! I may take the audio book plunge too... I'd probably get through a LOT more books that way. :)
DeleteOoohhhhs Stardust and Jurassic Park are two that I adore!!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I'm really liking Jurassic Park at the moment.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about the health problems and I hope everything is okay! I enrolled at Hogwarts yesterday! It's almost sad how excited I am, lol.
ReplyDeleteCool! I think it sounds like a lot of fun.
DeleteI want to get into Charles De Lint's middle reader series. The artwork just seems incredible! Here's to a better week! -Earl!
ReplyDeleteI hope your parents feel better real soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I feel about a Flash Gordan remake, I love the original in all its campy glory and there is no way they can top that sountrack.
Looks like you have some good reading ahead of you. Have a great week.
I'm sorry about your parents - I hope they will be feeling better soon! I've been meaning to read Stardust for ages, but I never seem to get around to it. There are just so many books on my TBR pile at the moment (like always). HiH is pretty cool as well! I actually enrolled there, but I haven't had time to do the coursework assignments.. Happy reading and have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sofia, appreciate that. I've been curious about Stardust for a long time too so looking forward to finally getting to it. And I'm really curious about the classes- that just sounds so cool!
DeleteI know some people love audio book and I can imagine that when you're driving a lot they would be handy, so it might be good to give it a try. I hope everything's okay with your parents. I hope you have a great wek!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get into audio- I would get through a lot more books that way I think especially lately! :)
DeleteHealth concerns, always a worry ... hope the parents are doing better. Audiobooks are great if you spend a lot of time driving. Have a good week and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too. I need more audio in my life I guess. :) Hope your week is great!
DeleteI hope your parents are feeling better. Audio books are definitely a good idea if you are going to be driving back and forth a lot. I usually listen to them when I drive to visit family. It makes the hours go by faster.
ReplyDeleteI liked Stardust but it was definitely different from the movie (which I saw first). I remember reading Jurassic Park as a teen when the movie came out. I loved the movie but was less enamored with the sequels.
I am intrigued by Hogwarts is Here. I'll have to check it out.
I need to get some audio books, will definetly ease all the driving I've been doing lately. I've heard that Stardust was different and it seems to get pretty good reviews, so I'm looking forward to the changes from the movie version. For some reason I never read Jurassic and it's a lot of fun now.
DeleteI hope your parents are doing better and you have a better week!
ReplyDeleteYou too Yvonne, take care!
DeleteSorry to hear about the illnesses. Hope everyone is getting back to normal. I need to read Jurassic Park. I have it, but have yet to read it. I have read Stardust though. :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteJurassic Park has been sitting on my shelf for awhile, and I'm finally getting to it. It's funny the dialogue seems just like the characters in the movie to me, even though the story has a lot more to it than in the movie obviously. I'm having fun w/it, it's taking over as my main read this week. :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear your parents have been ill, Greg. It can be hard to keep up with reading and blogging when real life throws you curve balls. But yes, if you're going to be doing much long-distance driving, audiobooks are great. 'Robin' and I got through all of Pat Rothfuss's immensely-long (and fabulously good) The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear in about 2 1/2 semesters of driving to and from community college (about 40 minutes each way.) It made the commute much more enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across a mention of the Hogwarts MOOC, and I'm dying to sign up! If only I had more free time.
I can see where that would be nice. What a great way to pass the journey and get through a epic fantasy as well. Thanks for the thoughts, things are a little better this week and we're just going a day at a time. Hope your week is great.
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your parent's health concerns. I know how stressful that can be just going through it with my husband's parents. Audiobooks are awesome for long drives!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nise. I need to get some audio, that will probably jumpstart my reviews a bit! :)
DeleteThose books look interesting. And they're from different genre, too. :) Have a great week, Greg. Enjoy those books! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog! ^__^
Julie @ Books and Insomnia
Thank you for dropping by! I do tend to mix genres a lot... :)
DeleteENJOY all your books. I don't know any of these titles.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Thanks for stopping by Elizabeth, you have a fabulous week too!
DeleteSorry to hear about your parents. I hope they are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely give audio books a try. I check out a lot through the library. They participate in the OverDrive program so I'm able to check out books and audio online. You should check to see if your library participates in the program. You can check overdrive.com.
It looks like you have some great books to look forward to. I love the cover of Legacy of a Clockwork Key. Happy Reading!
I am going to try audio, I had not thought of checking audiobooks out of the library for some reason. That's a great idea! I'll definetly looks intoOverdrive, thank you!
DeleteI like that cover a lot too, with the dark clouds and the background. Really looking forward to that one!
I always like your covers. :-) I encourage you to get audio books - fun and easy to listen. Hope things settled down with your parents. I hope you have a good week and get more reading done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha! I am rather drawn to covers myself, I will totally buy a book for the cover if I think it's even remotely something I'll like. :) Sometimes I get disappointed that way, of course, but hey a nice cover is a good thing!
DeleteThis week is definetly shaping up better, thanks for the kind words.
Whoa! there were a lot of comments here. I am behind this week visiting blogs. I hope your parents are OK. It is awful. My dad was in a terrible motorcycle accident last year and I went home to be with him for 2 months. Traveling traveling. There wasn't really any reading going on either since I was so stressed. Hoping things get better Greg!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. That sounds terrible, I hope he's fully recovered. There's nothing worse than having a parent go through something like that, I'm sure your being there helped tremendously.
DeleteThis week is better so that's a good thing!
