Sunday Post #535

I had my first holiday party this past week. It went very well, good food and it didn't last all day either. Finally got decorations up. I'm thinking of getting a smaller tree. Do you get real trees or do you go artificial?

In other news I've been playing a lot of Lord of the Rings Online lately. A couple things. I walked into a random tavern and a lot of players were playing music and dancing. I love how you can just stumble on things like that. The other thing is the Yuletide festival going on. So festive! I have a rabbit companion now and a walking Christmas tree too (because Middle- earth has, you know, walking trees).

This week's discussion post is Star Wars - Why I Hate The Newer Movies

Here is this week's lyric.
Ooh you can dance you can jive
Having the time of your life

Here is the lyric f/ last week and the answer

I've been driving all night my hands wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel

   Song of the week

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

  1. We do an artificial tree...but I miss picking out the perfect real tree every Christmas. Artificial trees may be easier and less messy, but real trees are definitely better!

  2. I can't remember the last time we had a read tree. I guess that was in upstate NY and he brought in through the door and ended up just cutting to top of it..he had no idea it was going to be that large. Now just a baby artificial tree that I have not put up yet. LOVE this MIMI! Oh, I know if was playing LORD OF THE RINGS I would be stuck in the tavern and wouldn't want to leave. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙 Glad you liked the post. All the best to your creativity! I have tried a couple of pic with some of my characters..but I felt yours told much more of a story.

  4. Artificial tree for me. Where I am from that is the only kind we can get.

  5. I always kick myself when you reveal the song. I know Radar Love, but I am terrible at recognizing the lyrics. My tree is so fake, it is up and fully decorated in under a minute. I love it! Glad you enjoyed your holiday party (you made me laugh when you talked about it not lasting all day - I also cannot wait for parties to end)

  6. Yo pongo árbol artificial. Linda música. Ten un genial fin de semana. Te mando un beso.

  7. We had parties yesterday and today. One left on Monday. After that, I need to focus on home stuff. I've only had a real tree once. My allergies prefer artificial. Cover of The Screaming Mimi is neat. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Oh artificial one million percent! No mess, no lugging the thing down to the curb, less wasteful for the environment, I see no downsides. I would get a smaller one too honestly- or at least a lighter one? I hate lugging the thing up from the basement! (Incidentally, you know what else would be great? A one story house. Or a yurt, you know how I long for a yurt.) Glad that the party was relatively painless! The LOTRO festivals sound so... jolly! I love that! And honestly, a walking Christmas tree would actually solve ALL of those aforementioned problems!

Also I FINALLY got one! It's Dancing Queen!

  11. Haha listening to Radar Love as I type! Abba and Dancing Queen - that was easy lol. And in their song Super Trouper, they mention Glasgow!

I was never a big Star Wars fan but do love The Mandalorian :-D

  12. We have two trees at home - artificial and real :)

  13. We always do artificial trees. I am sure I would forget to water the real tree and it would die before Christmas.

  14. Ahhh LOTRO! Such nostalgia. I haven't played it in a while but it was the first time I played an MMORPG. (I play FFXIV now, but I keep getting tempted to poke my nose in on LOTRO.)

  15. I have two artificial trees. With the show way I decorate and undecorate (usually a couple weeks minimum each direction), plus wanting time to enjoy them, I wouldn't want a real one. It would be dead long before I was done with it.

  16. Glad to hear the Christmas party went well with good food! You have a rabbit companion? Did you get a new pet or am I misreading? Lol.

  17. We have an artificial tree. Every year we are like this year we will get a real one, and never do. Lol. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday party!

  18. I'm glad the party went well! I've never had a real tree. I'm too scared it will have bugs in it.

  19. I prefer real trees but when you live in a warm climate and want your tree up for A LONG TIME, artificial is the way to go. Plus I love white trees and pastel trees so, kinda have to get artificial. Last year I was in a MOOD so I had a black tree.

This year is kind of a transition-y year for me. I didn't drag either the pink or the black tree with me from Arkansas and I got rid of the white tree in L.A. because it wasn't in great shape. So, no trees this year. Just minimal decorations.

I'm really liking those skinny trees and grinch trees I keep seeing on social media.

  20. We always put up fresh trees until a few years ago. While we love the scent of a fresh tree, they are so messy. So we made the switch. An artifical tree means we get to set it out right after Thanksgiving. And they're usually pre-lit, so I have a step to skip.

  21. Since it's just me, I have an artificial tree. I currently only have a 4.5 foot tree, but would like to maybe get a 6 foot next year as I get more ornaments for my peacock themed tree. I love that you can walk into a little bar/pub like that in an online game! I wish I did stuff like that, it would be neat I think. We had our work holiday party Friday night. It started right after school and went till 5 pm, but I left around 4, after the raffle winners were drawn.

  22. Oh I know this week's lyrics! Woohoo!! We always did artificial trees. Now, we do no tree because of the dogs.

  23. We always do a real tree, a small one. We didn't get ours until Dec 24th last year and we haven't gotten it yet this year. I'd have gone today but it's raining so maybe tomorrow.

  24. We just put up our tree this week. We got an artificial one last year, so we'll go with that for awhile.

  25. Glad you had a good time at the party. I always enjoy the pulp covers and this week's is another great one. Have a great week!

  26. We've gotten real trees for years mostly as an experience for the kids, and will probably continue to do so until they get old enough where they don't care anymore, lol. Real trees can be so much hassle, it would be easier to just do artificial. But I do love the fresh tree smell!

  27. You always feature such iconic covers! Love the red dress on this one--great piece of pulp art.

  28. Lord of the Rings online sounds like fun! We usually get a real tree, but this year we didn't get one at all, oops😁

  29. I prefer artificial trees. And...I never knew Lord of the Rings Online was an actual thing. It sounds like a lot of fun.

  30. My family got real trees for years but switched back to artificial this year. My mom said it is too much stress to get a real tree tied onto the car and into the house.

  31. OMG Radar Love! i LOVED that song. I used to drive a little crazy when it was on lol
We have a fake tree but when we lived in FL, we didn't have a tree at all.
My husband had his work Christmas party 2 weeks ago. His company was slashing budgets and cut back on the party after it was already reserved so they had to cut the guest list. I happily withdrew lol

  32. We do an artificial one. We did a live one once because I wanted one and thought it was so romantic and we were still finding pine needles in March so no more. Ours is 7 1/2 foot and I have the ceilings for a bigger one but this one is tree enough for us. We decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving but the tree just went up yesterday. I can't bear to say "Zeke - no!" any longer than 2 weeks.

  33. We got an artificial tree about ten years ago. I wouldn't mind having a little bit smaller one, though.

  34. We have an artificial tree but my whole childhood we always got real trees and it was always such fun. I do love the convenience of a fake tree though. I hope you're having a great week!

  35. We do a real tree. I love picking it out, but I'm getting slightly more allergic each year so might do artificial next year.

    Have a good week!

  37. I haven't been able to visit your blog in a while, so I hope all is well with you and your family for the holidays! We always get a fresh tree. It's a thing for my husband. :)

  38. I prefer tall, fat, fresh trees. We have tons of Christmas tree farms back home in NC, so we used to spend a whole day driving out to a farm, choosing the perfect tree (my husband had to keep me realistic about what would actually fit in our house), cutting it ourselves, making smores by the bonfire, and having a great day. Since we've been traveling and stay in our RV, we don't have room for any of that anymore. I buy a cheap, artificial 4' tree each year then donate it to Goodwill after the new year. It's a tradition in its own way now. Enjoy your week and happy holidays!
