Sunday Post #498

A few thoughts this week. It was fascinating seeing what people had to say re: reposting old posts. Roughly half didn't care for their older posts and others were like yes to older content. Some of you didn't think older content compared well with or was something they'd want to revisit, while others were like the older stuff isn't that bad. I tend to fall in the latter category- I think I had the fire for posting and writing stuff a few years back, so when I look back at older reviews they seem surprisingly thoughtful.

In other news my birthday was Friday. Where to go eat? I'm thinking Outback Steakhouse. What is everybody's favorite b- day place??

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

  1. Happy birthday! Outback sounds fun. We used to go there a lot when I lived in FL. There aren't many chains where I live now and I think it's been close to 2 years since I've been. We also have SO many small restaurants here that I always want to try.

I'm with you on the older posts. I think mine might be even better then than now?? lol Definitely more thoughtful. Now, I'm just so random and train of thought lol

  2. We have a little mexican/american place around the corner that I like. Serves a mean bluecheese and bacon burger....

  3. For newcomers like me, I like to see introduced old posts gradually and intermittently. It is nice.

  4. Happy Birthday! I like to get halibut and chips for my birthday. Or a really good cheeseburger. Not very exciting, I know. ;D

  7. Happy birthday! Hmm, favorite birthday dinner places. I tend to favor steakhouses as well, last year was Texas Roadhouse and some years before it was surf and turf at Red Lobster, lol. My bday is next week and this year I think I will hit up a new all you can eat hotpot place that just opened near us!

  8. I like how you put that, you had the fire for posting and feel it was more thoughtful. A March 31st baby - here's to another year to you, man!!! Happy b-day :-)

  9. Happy birthday Greg! I want to put a smile on your face for the occasion (or maybe make you laugh), so hear me out: in my latest InCryptid read (Calculated Risks), Sarah telepathically tames a giant spider from another dimension and calls him...Greg ๐Ÿ˜‚. I loved him BTW.

  10. Happy, happy birthday friend!

I don't mind older posts because it is interesting to see how my blogging style evolved.

  11. Happy birthday! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ My birthday meal is either manicotti at my favorite local Italian restaurant where I've been eating since I was five years old, or... a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish, large fries and chocolate shake; depending on how I feel. Ha ha. There were no Filet-O-Fish for last Mother's Day or my birthday. I Googled to see what was up and some articles say they discontinued it, others say it's supply chain problems. I hope it's the later. ๐Ÿ˜›

I think my posts are better now. ๐Ÿ˜„

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  14. Happy birthday!! I hope it's a good one. Texas Steakhouse sounds good, we also like TGI Friday's, Cracker Barrel...most anyplace where I don't have to cook, LOL.

  15. I love to go to Outback for my birthday. We're the old people who get there really early and then leave early :)

  16. Happy birthday! I'm a fan of ordering in for my birthday rather than going out. Have a great week :)

  17. Happy birthday! For me with reposting, it really depends on the post. Some old posts of mine I hate lol. Others, I'm like, "Oh, that's actually insightful!"

  18. Happy Birthday Greg! And I get what you mean with having the fire to write and having it thoughtful! Sometimes I read old reviews I wrote and I am all: "wow! I was good!" LOL

  20. I was looking back at my old posts and I certainly have gotten better at graphics and style. But it is nice to see how my blog has progressed. I had steak on my birthday this year. So Outback sounds great.

  21. Happy birthday, Greg! I haven't been to Outback in ages - and we have one 15 minutes from the house. Ha. My favorite birthday spots are Bonefish Grill and Copelands (a Cajun-type restaurant). Love that Boston song.

  22. Happy Birthday!! I usually grab Chinese for my birthday as it's my favorite type of food. :)

  23. I like to feel fancy on my birthday and make everyone work for their meal -- The Melting Pot. To be honest, I usually settle for Chevy's. I love tex-mex. Do you think it's that we thought we had a fire and our posts were better in the past, or are we just too hard on ourselves?

  26. Happy birthday! I rarely get to go to Outback because no one in my family is a big fan. But I always enjoy it when I can! My favorite restaurant is a local Mexican place my family has gone since I was a little girl. Hope you have a good week!

  27. Happy birthday Greg!! Yum, Outback Steakhouse is one of my favorites๐Ÿ˜ I hope you had a great meal.

  30. Happy Belated Birthday!! Mine is coming up this month. It happens to be on National Grilled Cheese Day, so I'm having a grilled-cheese-a-thon. Lol. I'm planning to have grilled cheese at three different eateries. :D

  31. We have to be so careful with gluten free now but I am a Texas Rodehouse fan. There are lots of places we like though. But the best food is my own cooking. We tend to only eat out when we travel. I hope it's a great birthday celebration!

  32. It comes a bit late, but happy birthday, Greg. Hope you had a wonderful day and could enjoy your birthday meal. Whatever you had on your plate *smile* Have a wonderful new week and happy reading.

  33. Yep, I think a few years back I had more thoughtful reviews, but it was so time consuming, and they were longer. I try to make reviews/posts shorter because who wants to read something long? Not me. I just want the nitty gritty. Happy B-day Greg! I love Ruth's Chris (such a weird name) because steaks in butter! Yum. And their potatoes are to die for. It's been a long while since I've been to an Outback but I recall them having good steak and maybe crab legs? Good stuff. Hope you enjoy where ever you decide to go. I'm looking forward to hearing about it!

  34. Oh, I feel bad not coming to check out the post sooner. Ugh, I was so tired after the zoo passes. I crashed at nine last night and thought I woke up at 5 just to learn it was only 11:45 at night.

But I did meet some interesting folks yesterday. There was a pair I am sure that had never been to the Henry Dorley Zoo so I made sure they got a free pass even if I couldn't figure out how to spell their foreign names. I actually had to fill out their forms for them. D needed a pin so I asked when were you born? He smiled and asked me to guess and I said, "1978" and he smiled. "No,1954." Of course, I had to do this all over again with his neighbor who lived in the same complex. He was born in 73. Of course, they may never visit the library again, but at least they have library cards.

I hope you had a really good steak on your birthday. I splurged last night and got crisp eggplant with my pork dish at our favorite Chinese place. At the moment I am drinking a homemade margarita(and I'll think of you when I drink the next one ^_~). It really is lovely out..61! but I was again at the library. Our YA libroam has covid. The head of Circ might have it to or she got something from her cat when she(the cat) was in urgent care. The cat has been sneezing on her since she got home a few days ago. She is almost 20 but the vet didn't believe this to be so..so they knocked her out when they took blood. She didn't wake up until several hours later and had to have oxygen. Of course, they didn't give her the antibiotic she needed so Head of Circ had to do that when she got her home.

Here's to a belated Happy Birthday!๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’• I hope the family was good to you and made over you well. Wishing you lots of sweet memories, lots of cool books to read and of course, stay inspired with your fan fiction and science fiction short stories๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’• Thanks for being here.

  35. Happy Birthday - my go to restaurant changes on current financial situation.....we've done fast food some years and Salty's which is a high-end restaurant with a great view of the city and bay, and everything in between. Those pulp covers just crack me up - they sure use sex and sizzle to sell - even the tag lines! "nude beauty's corpse" - ha.

  43. I've gotten to like going out for Mexican food more than anything else lately. I like a lot of vegetables in a meal, I guess. Plus, I love a good margarita. We haven't been to Outback in a while. They're not known for their veggie dishes! haha
