Sunday Post #497

So do you ever look back at old blog posts and think- my old posts are better? I did that this week. I posted a repost of some fan fiction, and while it's not my favorite piece of writing, it did remind me of when I wrote more. And like I mentioned a few weeks back, I want to repost some old things that no one has seen- or got, like, 3 comments. Anyway, like I mentioned also I guess my ten year anniversary is arrived. I started in August of 12 but REALLY started posting in March the following year.

In other news I saw the movie 65 this week and... 🀣

Here is this week's lyric.

A new day is breaking
The road is calling today is the day

Here is the lyric f/ last week and the answer

I was so lonely until I met you
Told myself I'd get by without love

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

  1. I understand where you are coming from. And yes I think you should repost stuff. I know a couple of summers ago I was writing a story about Ivy who thought she was on her way to find her wayward boyfriend, but instead was kidnapped by his brother. Of course, I don't know if many read that story or if they did "got that story" since I know it can get lost in translation in different languages. So I do have a banner for Lenny since a lot of people would bring it to my attention..who is this guy Kenny. Although, I really did want to make the story more gritty sometimes I feel I can't write everything I want to write since I don't want to upset some readers. When I started my blog most of my readers were teens(and sometimes, I don't want to look back at all my grammar mistakes), now not so much anymore. But in all things you want to keep growing. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Still a chill here. Hope your girls are doing OK with everything happening at the University.

    1. Thanks for your comments.πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€Oh, these lyrics for next week....Such a cool vibe intro..just imagine if this song had been in Pretty in Pink..maybe Duckie would have gotten the girl after all...as if. Several times I have often thought of mixing it up and having all sorts of different outcomes of that movie. One movie I liked, but always thought it could have been so much better. Peace, Love & Understanding πŸ–€

    2. Well..it was Molly Ringwald who decided how Pretty and Pink would end. Her character was supposed to go with Duckie in the original screenplay but she wanted to be with Andrew so she got her wish. So a better version of the movie was Some Kind of Wonderful where they switched the roles around. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I didn't know about the new remake of CLUE. It does look interesting. But the original was pretty darn good, so it won't be easy to make something quite that classic...but who knows..maybe it'll be good. I think you should do a post where you make a list of songs that should be in a teen movie..or maybe a sciencefiction movie. Waiting for snow here. It might not happen.

    3. Cool! I will be looking forward to that! Oh, it is inspiring to think of making clothes..but making them is not as much fun. Just when I got expelled from one roleplay (which I didn't want to do anyway) Somebody wanted me to help with hers (we do not write well together, unfortunately) Maybe I'll make a post on "roleplay".

  2. The two songs were interesting in so many different ways. The Citadel of Death must be made into a bad movie, with girls in bikinis running through the forest, with the Dune-like monster worm chasing them.

  3. My first posts weren't that great, but then I feel like I got better. I think my posts from between 3-6 years ago are my freshest and best. Now I sometimes feel like I'm just phoning it in. Maybe because I'm always so tired. Happy 10 Years! :D

  5. I wish I had more non-book review posts that I "could" repost. Most of that stuff starts when I started on wordpress in '16/17. My nuking my blogs on a regular basis kind of did away all my stuff, sigh.

But I would like to see re-posts from you. I'm certainly not going to go randomly surfing your site, so bringing them up for consumption again works great as far as I'm concerned :-)

  7. I understand about the qulaity of old posts. I was looking for a recipe in my blog and found a few posts that were SO much better than what I do now. What happened there I wonder.
Maybe back in the day when I was just writing for myself and never thought of anyone actaully reading my ramblings I was less self conscious?

  8. I have read old reviews and thought they were better than the ones I write now. Who knows if that's true or me just being too critical.

  10. I haven't been blogging very long, so I'd love to see some of your older posts.

  11. I've always wondered is re-posts are worth it too but, as your post has proven, it definitely allows many of us to discover some of your past work and it'll always be appreciated! :D

  12. I haven't been blogging long enough to say my older posts were better, LOL. But, I am learning what works for me and what doesn't, so there is that :)

  13. Sometime I look back at old stuff and think it is better. Most of the time, I cringe. But there are some gems back there.

  14. I don't know if I'm better or worse now than I was. But I also stopped for a long time. Hmm... have a great week :)

  15. When I look at old posts I am mostly struck by how much time and effort I put into reviews. Long, thoughtful reviews and sometimes even a mood board to go along with them. Nowadays I dash off a short paragraph or, more often than not, skip the review altogether and move on to the next book. I wish I made more time to review.

  16. Well then Greg, happy blogoversary! And yes I think I posted more discussion than simply reviews and memes so maybe, they were better. But I am still here after more than 6 years so I am happy LOL

  17. No I have looked at my older stuff and cringe...lol. Happy Blogoversary!

Have a great day and happy reading!

  19. I need to save that Follow Your Heart Lofi! And congrats on 10 years!

I think my blog has ups and downs. :)

  20. I sort of have the opposite problem...if I look at my old reviews, I still think they're mostly good, but they're also SO LONG-WINDED 🀣 😭 *cringes hard*. I've learned to rein myself in a little more lately...

Happy blogoversary! I started in October of 2012, and even made my intro post and everything...not like anyone knew me back then LOL.

I would happily read more fiction, in case you get inspired...πŸ˜‰

  21. My old posts had a different feel because the community was different back then. I feel like some of the old vibe is starting to return to my posts, though.

  22. Ugh my old posts kind of make me cringe. But, there are a few good ones in the mix.

  23. I know I used to do a much more thorough review, but then I had two people say my reviews were like book reports, so I quit doing them that way. :-( I need to go see 65 this week on my spring break! Happy 10th blogoversary!

  24. Happy Blogoversary! I am glad I have my old posts because I used to share anecdotes and funny things my kids said and did, and it's nice to have that record now that they are young adults. Time passes too fast! I love The Babys song Isn't it Time https://youtu.be/s-c8X52Qg4o

  25. This week's lyric SPEAKS to me and my upcoming roadtrip so I Googled it, should've known it immediately, love the song, added it to our roadtrip playlist!

  26. LOL sometimes I look back on old posts and just feel kind of embarrassed!

  27. I see no issue with reposting old posts. I think I've been blogging about the same length of time but it's been awhile since I looked back at my old stuff. I may need to do that soon! Have a great week!

  28. I just watched the 65 trailer... WOW! 😱

Studio Ghibli! Have you watched an anime movie yet? πŸ€”

I love the Citadel of the Green Death cover. πŸ€—

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  29. First, happy blog anniversary, Greg. The other thing is, I understand you. I am still writing long reviews, with all my thoughts and feelings in it. But also noticed, that most of my visitors don´t read the full length anymore. Guess, I will have to rethink my way of reviewing a book *smile* The reposting is a good idea. Go for it! Have a great new week.

  30. Happy blog-versary! I have looked back on old posts and reviews and thought how much better those were lol. I think it's a good idea to repost some older stuff, especially posts that didn't get too many comments/views. Is that a Fast Times at Ridgemont High gif? Enjoy your week!

  31. 10 years ! That's a real accomplishment. I wrote longer reviews in the early days but that was when I was a reviewer on other blogs. Hey Happy Birthday later this week - have fun!

  34. I read some reviews and think they were better than I do now, but sometimes I'll read one and think it was awful, so I guess it just depends, haha. Congratulations on 10 years! Mine was last June and I forgot about it so didn't mark the event in any way, lol.

  35. oh wow, that song... It immediately gave me Studio Ghibli vibes even before I actually looked at the title πŸ˜…

I don't have my old blog anymore, but I wrote for a few websites and personally I prefer my writing now, as I see the difference and how much I've improved.

  38. I feel like I had more to say when I was a "younger" blogger. I used to love discussions, but it gets to a point where I feel like I've talked about everything there is to talk about!

Happy birthday later this week! Hope it's a good one!

  39. I've gone back to some of my older posts and they were so bad. LOL I started in 2008. I can't believe it's been that long. Have a great week!

  40. I cringe at my old posts lol! I was very young when I started my blog, so a lot of my old posts have many spelling errors or just cringey dialogue.

I'd love to see some of your favorite old posts!

  49. I like the of reposting something from way back. People seldom browse the archive of a blog anymore so it gives the newer readers something while sort of remind the older readers what they have missed. I used to browse people's archive whenever I find a blog that I like but I haven't found any new blogs lately.

I see you have one post in August of 2012 but do you know there's no content in that post? Happy blog anniversary, whenever it is.

    Have a lovely day.

  52. Oh I absolutely feel this, my older posts were more interesting too, mostly because I had more time and posted more stuff. Now it is just... trying to get through the stuff I promised to review or whatever, and less of stuff I actually enjoy. Also, The 100 posts were my fave and I don't think I have done one in nearly 2 years, unless you count Conageddon, which I don't. I need to do one but again, time. Also ten YEARS, that is quite an accomplishment! Congrats!
