Sunday Post #381

Thanksgiving is history and now we have the holiday season. The other thing is I decided to share a few more vacation pics since they seemed well received last week.

This week I posted Best Music Art and will have an encore on Monday. These are both reposts from like 2019 but one thing I've discovered recently is my audience has largely changed. I still have many friends from over the years but at the same time- there are a ton of new bloggers who have never seen posts I take for granted everyone has seen. I sometimes hate to repost because it feels like cheating, but... looking back at the comments for those posts, a lot of those commenters are gone! And while wanting to resurrect Best Music art with some new picks, I realized half my audience (maybe more) has never seen the first two!

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

  1. I hear you about how our followers change over the years. I was looking back at some stuff and maaaaaaan, besides a few core folk, my entire lineup has changed. Of course, who I follow has changed dramatically as well. Bloggers change as they continue and sometimes our paths diverge. Which is why I'm always on the lookout for new bloggers to follow :-D

  2. Seeing through your lenses is a pleasure. The music adds a lot of colour to my Saturday morning. I am heading for a run soon

  3. Love the photos! And reposts are a fun way to remember past blogging years. Hope you have a good weekend! :D

  4. Peanuts is a icon of our TV Christmas.

  5. You always have me checking what day it is putting your Sunday post up on Friday. LOL! Did you see that they are having a live action Charlie Brown Christmas? I saw an advertisement somewhere. It's such a classic.

  6. The blogging community is ever changing. I love the photos. I hope that you have a great week, Greg!

  7. Me gustaron las canciones de Charlie Brown y los otros videos. Te mando un beso.

  8. High heel Homicide. Makes me think of the gunman at the Colorado Springs nigh club that was subdued in part by a drag queen stepping on him with high heels.

  9. We have the Charlie Brown Christmas CD and recently listened to it. Love that one during the holiday season.

  10. Like you, my previous readers are gone too or perhaps they thought I'm not blogging as I did change blogs a lot. It's sad but that how it is. People do stop coming around and we shouldn't feel bad but we do.

I'm new to your blog, newish - I'm sure I haven't read all your posts. I don't think re-posting posts as cheating because new readers haven't read them so it's new to them. I was thinking of also reposting some posts that I thought were rather good to repeat but I'm too lazy to look for them.

I've always enjoy sky/water shoots because there are no skyscrapers to hinder the beauty of the sky. I don't visit beaches much or anywhere really.

    Have a lovely day.

  11. Lovely pictures! Can't go wrong with Charlie Brown either! Have a great weekend!

  12. Loving all the Peanuts stuff. Huge fan here.

  13. The Charlie Brown music is so nostalgic. Coincidentally, just yesterday my husband read that The Charlie Brown Christmas movie first aired in 1965. I had no idea it was that old... even though I clearly remember watching it in the mid-70's.

  14. My blog will be 10 years old in 2023. It is wild to see how much the blogosphere has changed. I don't think anybody who commented on my first posts is around anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have switched my blogs twice now and it is neat to see the people I have talked to on all three blogs still around - including you! But overall, it does seem like people come and go. I often think about reposting from my old blogs sometimes. Hmm..you've given me something to think about there.

And hey, I know that outdoor area! Leland!

  16. I should republish older posts too Greg as you are right about our audience! Maybe make it a monthly or weekly theme!

  17. It's neat that you have a growing audience - I seem to be stuck at 116 followers LOL (then again, next to no one uses the Google to follow people anymore). And I'm sure most of them have stopped blogging (or changed host) a long time ago!

That dining area with all the wood is so nice!

  18. It's sad to think of all the bloggers who have gone, but it makes me happy to realize we are still getting new bloggers to the community.

  19. I know the Charlie gif or picture (not sure how to call it). Saw it last year already *smile* Glad you are having a growing audience. I am stuck with 33 followers for ages now *sigh* Ah well... Happy reading and have a great new week.

  20. Great pictures. I think that the audience changes and it's nice to repost once in a while. I "update" my posts and link back to my old ones because I am constantly reading new things that can now make certain lists. To be fair though I have only been blogging a year and a bit.

    Have a great week!

  24. Your second to last holiday pic can easily be the cover for a sinister pulp fiction murder mystery or something.

I don't mind reposting. Like you say - your audience differs year by year and sometimes people like to revisit with you!!

    Have a good week Greg!

  25. I love the Peanuts stuff. My daughter has just discovered them. We watched the Thanksgiving special and I'm not sure I'd seen that one although I thought I have seen them all. Love the photos.

  26. So how do you decide or find the pulp covers you post? Are they books you have? Books you want to read? Always love seeing them! They're fun! They remind me of the Grady Hendrix nonfiction book I bought about horror novels. Hope you are having a good week!

  27. I love Peanuts. I have an aunt who collects everything Peanuts and I think of her every time I see something Peanuts related.

So many of the bloggers who were blogging when I started have moved on or not as active. I was reading some of my old reviews the other day--boy, was a I wordy! I definitely went into more depth than I do know. I don't see that as a bad thing necessarily--just different.

I hope you have a good week, Greg!

  28. Hi Greg,
It is absolutely not cheating. I'm not surprised that a lot of the bloggers have stopped blogging (I mean, I did!), but it is also great that there are so many new people in the community. By reposting content it's also an opportunity to share posts people used to love or found very helpful.
I still have access to a LOT of my old reviews but I am very hesitant to post them on my 'revamped' blog. I'm not sure they're up-to-standard ha ha. You can definitely see the progression I made in both writing and reviewing over the years. Just in case you repost very early stuff, maybe a quick freshen up is all they need :)
Have a great week ahead Greg :D

  29. That Charlie Brown art is so cute. Makes me wish I had learned to skate!

  30. Yeah, bloggers and booktubers alike have changed a lot. I have started cleaning out my channels I follow on youtube because the creators are not creating anymore, so probably the same with a lot of bloggers as well.

    Have a great week!

  31. Being the huge Peanuts fan I am, I really enjoyed the musical clips and animation ! I hope you have a wonderful week Greg!

  32. It's always nice to see others vacation pics since we haven't been able to travel much the last couple years!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just recently downloaded an audio of Moon of the Crusted Snow, so I may take a peak at those reviews once I've finished.

My husband has also been watching the World Cup--he was a pretty serious soccer player in his younger years. I guess I prefer my soccer in the style of Ted Lasso!

  34. Your beach vacation photos are pretty! The town looks cute. Are you longing for nicer weather with these colder temps? Lol! Love all the Charlie Brown holidays. Makes me laugh and smile with the memories. :)

  35. I have steered way clear of football this time around! I have seen the news though about Germany having to ho home... whattt! But once it gets closer to finals, I'll probably look at the last couple of matches.

The beach photos are lovely! Makes me wish for summer although I generally don't like summer all that much!

  36. I find that really interesting that the bloggers who commented a few years back are mostly gone. A changing world!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Beautiful photos! Also, Vince Guaraldi's music is absolutely classic and a favorite of mine. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love Purple Cat! I'm saving that to my music reading list. Peanuts is my favorite and I love the ice skating music best of all. I hope you have a wonderful week!

  39. I've been so out of it lately ... but I'm not quite gone yet. I hope to get back in to more regular posting in 2023. I miss all the old, original gang of bloggers. It's always great to see Peanuts!

  40. Repost all you want! Things change and we change right along with it all! Life circumstances go through seasons which is what has me hardly blogging, but just keeping my toes in and its okay. We are so fortunate to have such beautiful beaches so close to us to visit! TC is one of my favorite places to visit.

  41. Hopefully the blogging community change for the better. I re-post some of my older reviews but don't get any or very little views on those post.
I like the music you pick out. Have a great week.

  42. I think it might be time for me to repost some things. I love the Charlie Brown videos. Enjoy your week and your books.

  43. Peanuts and Christmas just seem to go together! I know what you mean about changes in the blogging community. I'm feeling more and more like a relic. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  44. The book blogging community does seem fairly fluid, its odd but many people don't stick with it (and some of us keep on disappearing for months at a time only to turn up in the autumn.)
I was thinking about revamping and reposing some of my older book reviews as I am sure my writing and image skills have improved over the years

  45. Next year will be my fifteenth anniversary for blogging, and I miss a lot of my old blogging friends. But I think you've got a good way to look at it...new people who haven't seen your old stuff. I plan to repost some of my favorite posts next year.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think I'm a fairly new follower on your blog, and probably found it through the It's Monday, What Are You Reading link-up. I've been blogging for a long time, but had a fairly long hiatus at one point and have noticed a change in followers and commenters. I guess Substack is the latest thing? But I still like blogs better!

  47. I definitely appreciate more vacation pics, especially of the shore!

    ReplyDelete
  48. High heel Homicide -- oh that's GOLD!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  50. So true about reposts, it's definitely ok to repost since newer followers will not have seen older posts. Also, it's always nice to see vacation pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  51. And as an old blog follower - both in time following you and in age - I forgot what you posted anyway lolol

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love the 2nd vacation photo, with the stormy skies and ocean. Hope you have a good week!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Never look back, then you realise how many are gone :/

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yeah I really like the Peanuts song and it gets me in the spirit around Christmas. What a great song!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I used to repost sometimes but haven't in a while. But I should, because yeah, some of them get forgotten in the past or haven't been seen by new visitors. Nice beach pics!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Those old vintage covers and titles sure catch one's eye! Peanuts always brings a smile on my face so thank you for those videos and reminders

    ReplyDelete
  57. I forgot that Blogger ate my comment last week and I forgot to come back! 😯

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🍽
