Sunday Post #471

So I got a new job this week. I've been looking to do something different for a bit and this just came out of nowhere and looks perfect. I start the new position on October 3rd, so I'm excited.

So kiosk or no? The results from my last Sunday Post seem to indicate that a lot of you share my anti- kiosk sentiment, but there was quite a bit of pro- kiosk sentiment as well. And I can totally understand that- between the pandemic and just not wanting to deal with humans, the appeal is definitely there. And maybe the issue isn't kiosks per se, but the particular location... In other news, I know I've mentioned it before, but how weird is it when we realize the year we're living in was a dystopian disaster in movies we grew up with???????

  2. So you are leaving us to go earn filthy lucre? I feel betrayed. and cheapened. And some other stuff like that. Yeah totally.

  3. Wow congrats on your new job, good luck :-D And great news about your mum too, glad she is doing well :-D

I really enjoyed The Rockford Files and totally loved James Garner. On a side note, he was in a film called Marlowe with Bruce Lee! It was good.

Not seen Soylent Green in ages, probably late 90s last time I saw it!

  7. Congrats on the new job! It's always interesting to see dates in movies that were meant to be far in the future arrive. It makes me smile because if it's truly futuristic you see what people thought we'd have definitely hasn't arrived.

  8. I had to read the comments to figure out the movie. I have never seen it, but it is interesting every time we reach of those "futuristic" dates featured in older movies. Congratulations on the new job! I hope you have a very smooth transition

  10. Older movies set in the future are fun to watch. We saw one recently and had a laugh about how things were supposed ot be. Great news on a new job!

  11. I agree with you, 2020, definitely felt like a disaster movie to me. It felt as if it was a dream and nothing like that could happen in reality.

I also like the pulp cover you posted. :)

  12. Congrats on your new job! :D I hope you end up loving it.

I had no idea that SOYLENT GREEN was set in 2022. I do find it interesting, though, that many futuristic movies/shows were set before 2022. At the time, it seemed like we'd never get there, and now, it seems kind of comical at how far off we were. Back to the Future. Or Quantum Leap. LOL.

  13. Let's not think about that movie. I prefer it should never be mentioned.

Congrats on your new job. I hope you'll enjoy it.

    Have a lovely day.

Great pulp cover this week. And I TOTALLY remember and was a fan of Rockford Files. Ah, the memories. :) Thanks for stopping by.

  30. I hope you enjoy your new job! I have mixed feelings on kiosks. For simple things when I'm in a hurry they can be great. When I have a complex or unusual problem it's not always great.

  31. Congratulations on the new job! By chance we ended up watching an episode of The Twilight Zone the other night and it was set in the future and in some ways hit a little too close to home. Have a great week!

  33. Congratulations on your new job! How exciting! :-) Speaking of weirdness with years, I had a forty-year calendar that just finished at the end of 2021. For some spooky reason, the only year it did not have was 2020. It's like it predicted something big was going to change the world that year!

  45. Good luck with the new job! Hope you love it.

So, I was just talking real estate with some colleagues and saying how if we went back in time to Dec 2019 and economists told us about all the things that happened during the pandemic, we would say, "What is this? An Orwellian novel?" So agree with you on this sentiment, Greg.

Hope you have a great week.
