Sunday Post 455

Still all about shows. I've watching Stranger Things 4 and honestly- finding it a bit of a slog. Love the concepts of the show but do the episodes have to be THAT long? I'm still also watching Yakamoz S-245 which is a Turkish show and a spin off of Into the Night. I can't recommend Welcome to Eden enough. It's a Spanish show and that ending!

I wanted to give a heads up to a new blog- Ananka's photography blog. She's just started although she's been blogging for a long time.

   Song of the week

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

43 comments:

  1. Oh, I have joined Anka's new blog! I finally finished Master of my Own. And I am so glad Seven Tan finds so many good and meaningful projects.

Well, I wonder if I can come up with a short from that tag line..hehehehe.. Happy weekend.

    1. Oh, who knows what happened, but I know I pushed PUBLISH and there is was for everyone to see. It was about the Editor of Del Rey books that wrote the Pulp classic you mentioned. Truly OLD SCHOOL science fiction. I have to wonder how many novels they had to write for the month back then. Oh what a heyday it must have been. I had chatted with a mystery author Bill Pronzini once who started writing Westerns when he was 16 and had to meet a certain quota per month. They were looking for people who knew how to write who they were fans of. Probably a different process now. Hopefully this won't be scam...

  2. Aww thank you Greg for the mention, really appreciate that :-D And thanks Ellie :-D

I only watched S1 and S2 of Stranger Things. I'll need to check out the other 2 shows you mention, I really like foreign stuff. Did you ever finish Black Spot?

  3. I'm really surprised that cover made it past the censors....

  4. I don't think I'm ready for Stranger Things 4!

  5. I only watched the first season of Stranger Things, I liked it, but not enough to carry one with it. That cover is wild, it's pretty risque for that time period!

  6. The Stranger Things episodes ARE super long! It's weird having the cast be in three separate locations, we go whole episodes without seeing certain people.

  7. I'm not too keen on the length of the Stranger Things episodes, however, the final episode is so entertaining. I do think it's a bit difficult to get used to the length, but I found the story to be really interesting by the end.

  8. I will check out Anaka’s blog - thanks for the suggestion Greg! I love the pulp covers too! Have a great weekend!

  9. I haven't watched Stranger Things yet but I know exactly with you mean. It always drives me crazy when something feels artificially stretched out or confusing. As always I love the pulp cover. They never fail to crack me up. Have a wonderful week!

  10. How rude to hold a woman at gunpoint when she just wants to skinny dip. Those pulp covers never fail to entertain me.

  11. P.S. I did not get to see my movies. I tried and tried on my old laptop, but never could do it. Guess, I need a new driver for that. Although, I did make a few CD mixes from a buttload of MP3 songs a co-worker gave me so I now have my summer tunes K-Pop style. So that was sweet.

  12. Honestly really glad at this point that I couldn't get into ST. Maybe if it ends up being worth it in the end, I will give it another try? But the slog is not exactly enticing me to try more right now heh. Eden better be renewed for S2. You simply cannot end like that! I need to watch... Submarine Into the Night too. I will probably never refer to it by Yakabsdkshw87 or whatever. I am finishing my The 100 rewatch first though- I am on Nakara now I think? That scene with Diyoza, while Evil by Interpol is playing, chef's kiss.

  13. I've watched Season 1 and 2 and halfway through 3 with my husband of Stranger Things, and then I just gave up. He did watch the first one during the week and also complained about the length.

How sweet of you to support Anaka's blog. I will pay a visit!

    Have a good week Greg!

  14. I agree with the episode length for Stranger Things. It is getting longer and longer, or is it just me? I just paid a visit to Anka's new blog!

I hope you have a great week ahead.

  15. I've also been watching Stranger Things and though I'm loving it, I can totally see what you mean - the episodes could easily be a bit shortened, there's no need to have them be that long. Hope you'll have a great week!

  16. Yes, someone who agrees with me! I am finding Stranger Things 4 very boring. The whole Russian storyline I don't get, but hopefully it comes to play at some point. I think I miss the whole gang being together and all these different storylines are just not as great. I am not finished on episode seven, I just didn't find it as bingeworthy as it use to be.

  17. Ugh how long are the episodes? That makes me crazy. We haven't started it yet, we are going to finish up Outer Range first, but it is next up on the list.

  18. You're the second person today who I've seen complain about Stranger Things 4. I'm rewatching the whole series and I'm on Season 2 at the moment, which is really good. Now I'm nervous!

  19. The new blog looks good! Thanks for the heads-up. Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  20. I agree that the episodes are kind of long. I mean, just shorten them and make more episodes to get the whole story out, right? But I'm interested to see where it goes for sure!

  21. I am not familiar with all the shows you mentioned in your post. But some of them sound fun. So happy watching, Greg.

  22. I don't have a new show that I want to watch but I think I'll go for a rewatch of Heartstopper !

  23. I never seem to get to shows other than cooking ones. I want to watch but I have chores to do and also things to read. I'd really like to get to things like the Jack Reacher ones as I've read all the books for example. But there are MANY other things. I could watch while knitting and maybe get back to it a bit. But right now is gardening season, when it gets too hot in July and August I can stay in and knit and watch tv.

  24. I've seen a lot of people saying the same as you when it comes to Stranger Things. My partner isn't in a hurry to watch because for that reason lol

  26. I always love the pulp cover of the week that you share. They're always something I've never seen before, except when you share them on TTT posts. I'm glad you're going to do Tuesday Tagline again. I always loved that. :D

  27. I only watched the first season of Stranger Things. Won't be getting to any shows until I have a TV again! We left ours as part of the sale of our old house.

  28. I watched the first couple of episodes of Stranger Things new season and I found it very slow. It really seemed like each episode was super long. I'm taking a break from it now. Hope you have a great week!

  29. I the pulp cover looks cool. I'm currently watching the X-files.

  30. I'm kind of excited for extra-long Stranger Things episodes, though I wonder why they decided to do that. I'm currently rewatching season 3, and hope I can start 4 soon. It's tough trying to avoid spoilers on the interweb. :-)

  31. Yo aun veo la ultima temporada de Stranger Things 4. Me gusta la cubierta de la semana y el blog de Ananka esta genial . Te mando un beso.

  32. LOL the Stranger Things episodes are quite long, you're right. I've only watched one so far because my daughter wants to watch it too, but she keeps falling asleep on us :P

  33. Ooh these are nice sorta lo-fi beats. Very chill. Bummer that the latest Stranger Things season isn't so great. At least the other shows are good!

  34. We decided not to continue on with Stranger Things this season. I was underwhelmed by the last season and felt like I was fine with how things resolved there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I haven't watched Stranger Things. Hope you have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have not seen Stranger Things yet...and now, maybe I won't! Who need a show that's a bit of a slog?!

  37. I need to start watching Stranger Things. 📺

    Have a wonderful week! 🌞

  38. We've watched two episodes of Stranger Things so far. The length hasn't bothered me much yet, but holy moly, it took a dark turn this season! I've had to watch a couple of episodes of Seinfeld after each ST episode to make sure I don't have nightmares.

    Wowza--that cover!

    Enjoy your week!

  39. Forced myself to watch another episode of ST current season but lord it was hard. But, I managed to sit through so many awful episodes of Fear the Walking Dead I guess I can handle anything.

  40. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews for the new season of Stranger Things.
