Sunday Post #399

Tonight is takeout night- Chinese!

This week I reviewed Good Girls Lie and posted chapter 5 of To Love Is Human. I also received this video from someone close to me and I'm going to rant a little- feel free to skip if you don't care- but it's something I'm really concerned about. If you watch the video it's not even so much the message- the guy just talks sorta aimlessly for an hour- but it's a livestream and the action is in the chat comments. I was watching the comments scroll by and I was shocked. Deep state this deep state that and whatnot. To listen to this (and read comments) it's like evangelicalism has gone full QAnon. I consider myself a Christian, but this... scroll through the chat and you'll see what I mean.

This is a nice video from Virtual Japan.

I'm liking the idea of sharing a tweet occasionally to generate discussion.

  1. I notice you always put nice chill musical tracks on your site and you also sometimes seem to be interested in video games and their soundtracks, so I was wondering if you have heard of Spirit of the North. It's this indie game I recently played from Infuse Studio, and the music is GORGEOUS! I've been wanting to rave about it in everybody's faces but sadly I don't know enough video game music fans that give a crap, lol.

  2. Chinese take out is awesome! Food envy is real right now...

QAnon and conspiracy theory nuts freak me out. I don't even think I care whether I offend them at this point - they're bonkers and should come with flashing "do not engage" signs for other people's sanity.

  3. We had pizza takeout last night. In fact we do that almost every Friday night, lol. Have a good weekend, Greg!

  4. I had no idea Caviezel supported those "ideas". I wholeheartedly endorse your need to rant...

  5. Ranting is healthy, Greg! I completely agree with you. Conspiracy theorists are scaring me and it's baffling that they can't see that actual people are dying in hospitals because of their ignorance.

  6. I can't even listen to any of those conspiracy things. I don't get how people buy into such unsubstantiated crap. Hope you have a great weekend!

  7. Tokyo is a bucket list place for me. Sadly, these walking tours are probably the closest I will ever get. At we have these great videos, right?

  8. Ugh. Tell me about it. Sad thing is, there's a lot of QAnuts believers. Misinformation is winning this game, for sure.

Anyway, enjoy your Chinese take out tonight. Yummm.

  9. I mean, the Vatican is SMALL, Idk how they'd even fit trafficked kids? Honestly it's so ABSURD, and I genuinely don't get how people can believe this nonsense. Like- I know plenty of otherwise religious people (you included) who like, still use their brains? I don't get it! How anyone can mindlessly follow this utter nonsense is beyond me. My mom and I took the kids to the park earlier, and a church friend of hers was there and she's my mom's age, so we figured she was vaccinated and my mom and I are, and since we were outside my mom was like "well if you are vaccinated we don't need the masks" and... this seemingly very smart, lovely woman proceeds to tell us that she doesn't need one because COVID is fake. SO. Now, this woman KNOWS that my mom was so sick she was nearly hospitalized, so that pissed me off extra. (Also, I one million percent think Jim Caviezel is just in it to feel relevant. Like... no one has heard his name in two decades and he has a case of the sads so he's gonna spew the extra crazy 🙄)

I am, as always, jealous of your Chinese takeout. And, even more than usual, trying to run away to Japan, if they'll have me.

  10. I really abhor the extreme conspiracy theorists! I think they are so dangerous.

Enjoy your books and your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  11. I can't even with Q-Anon and anti-maskers! I had a relative of a patient we were treating at my hospital last week say he doesn't believe in Covid and I told him it's real and we had the freezer truck outside full of bodies during the surge to prove it! But even worse, during the surge I had a patient infected with Covid for the 2nd time say this to me while he was gasping for air on 4 liters of oxygen! It's insane. I won't even watch or listen to Q-Anon bullshit. I can't believe Caviezel is buying into this nonsense!

And now I want Chinese food! :)

  12. Ooo I hope you enjoyed your Chinese takeaway - We had a kebab takeaway on Friday too. 😋 Take care and happy reading in the coming week, Greg 🙂

  13. I swear, I feel like Trump brought out the crazies and then stoked the crazy to make it even more bizarre. There have always been conspiracy theorists but it's gone to a new level with A-Anon and the like. And the whole anti-masking thing... ugh! How can people be so blindly led and believe anything they're told. Use your brain! People are dead from this virus... get your priorities straight.

Okay, off my soapbox... on the lighter side, your takeout sounds delish and now I'm craving Chinese!

  14. I had never heard of QAnon before but the world is full of enough crazy stuff as it is without inventing more of it. I think the extreme wings of most of the world's religions give the more moderate followers a bad name.
    Enjoy your takeaway.

  15. Ah.. Chinese take-out! It has been a long time since I last eat Chinese. The husband doesn't like Chinese that much, and since he just won't eat it and I'll have to throw it away.. I also rarely eat it. I'm really wanting it now though! LOL.
People are definitely getting a little crazy. We've had these crazies here too, telling people COVID is a government planned disease. Really?? Sigh..
Have a great week and happy reading.

  16. Hi Greg! Aaah, conspiracy theories and the church. The worst combination since the ban from the garden of Eden. Crazy talk! Just hang on to your truth and read the rest of the time.

I think I'll order Chinese for take-out somewhere this week!

Enjoy your week and your chilled music and happy reading!

  17. There are far out religious people in any religion. I am an anti-masker but I quiet about what I believe cause I don't like getting into debates about it. I figure people will do what they want no matter what my opinion is, same as I will no matter yours. :) :)

(I totally don't believe in these tv prophet people...lol)

Have a great week and happy reading!

  18. Your rant is totally justified. A lot of these radicals are bred on fear. Scared people tend to do scary things. I am a Christian also, and the things some of these so-called Christians do is absolutely sickening and hypocritical.

  19. About 50 German actors did something similar with videos where they were kind of getting ironic about the current lockdown, that most businesses are still not allowed to reopen, not even outdoors etc. etc. Within hours they faced massive criticism and some of them deleted their video on social media again. To me it is poor judgement. And that QAnon lady with the long blond hair, can´t remember her name, is a joke. But I guess that crap will keep going on as long as there are some stupid people out there who believe everything they say. Have a great new week, Greg.

  20. I don't think either that you have kids kept captive under Buckingham Palace...and I hate when people try to divert messages.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yum, I haven't had Chinese food in awhile!

Some of these COVID conspiracy theories are just wild, how do people not realize how silly they sound?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yum! Chinese Food. Now I want to go out for Chinese food :)

These conspiracy theories just drive me crazy. They are all over the place on social media.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I support your rant. it scares me that people actually believe this crap.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This whole QAnon thing is just bonkers, it’s scary stuff.

Have a good week and stay safe over there.

  25. I know I am just gonna get angry, so not gonna read that. Ugh people!!! I can imagine what they do on about

    ReplyDelete
  26. Now I'm craving Chinese food too :)
I didn't know about the Q-Anon thing, it's scary that there are people who actually believe that :o
    Have a great week, Greg!

  27. Mmm Chinese takeout! Even though I just had that last week it sounds so good I want it again.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Chinese is one of our favorites and we are blessed to have an excellent place close to us. I so agree, Greg, as a Christian these people are so frustrating to me with what they put out there!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ugh! The right-wing conspiracy world is just so hard to deal with! Unfortunately, I have a few relatives who buy into it and you never know what is going to set them off. It would be hilarious if it weren't so frightening! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  30. QAnon and all those crazy things are well... crazy. I consider myself a Christian but not crazy, science matters and really its hard to understand their crazy stuff. However they are so misleading and bring so many along with them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is the reason I’m an atheist, and I am so disappointed in the actor. I loved Person of Interest but I won’t ever be able to watch it again without it being tainted by these nut bar ravings.

Wishing you a great reading week

  32. The Qanon nonsense drives me nuts 🤯 I am really disappointed in Jim C- I knew he was a Christian but this is just mind boggling

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just can't with all the Q'Anon stuff. The utter denial of what is happening right in front of us blows my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My thoughts, 1. Everyone wants to be a part of something bigger than themselves, but that doesn't mean people pick 'good' things to join. 2. Conspiracy theories let people believe that everything happens because of good and bad forces, which can be a comfort for many- i.e. they don't have to sit with uncertainty. Thanks for the soothing streams! I hope you have a good week!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not a fan of extremists at either end of the political spectrum. QAnon just baffles me. I can't imagine how anyone could believe all the absurd things they do believe. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  36. One of my aunts texted me recently about Cavaziel. She's really enjoying whatever TV show he's in and she's so disappointed that he's joined in all this nonsense. A different aunt believes everything she reads on social media, which seems to be a lot of QAnon BS. And she's the sweetest person and truly tries to live a Christian life. I just don't understand why some people are checking their brains at the door and believing that mess. Ugh.

When the Green Star Calls has a great cover!

    Enjoy your week!

  37. I have not heard anything of this QAnon stuff. I don't even know what or who it is. I hope you have a great week!

  38. My mom is kind of into the conspiracy theory nonsense. Sometimes it seems like she lives in an alternate reality. That stuff doesn’t even make sense! I don’t get it.

  39. Oh man I have a couple of FB friends that believe in all that nonsense about the pandemic was planned and they are serious anti-mask. Even my own brother is antivaxx and think the pandemic is a hoax so I've heard all the conspiracy theories and think these kinds of people are just really gullible. I just have to shake my head at all of it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The conspiracy theorists just puzzle me. I know a few people who are anti-maskers or who aren't on board with getting the vaccine and while I don't agree I can understand where almost each one of them is coming from. I've worked on classified projects and that pretty much convinced me that the bulk of of conspiracy theories are bunk - especially if they involve the government or big business - because neither group is organized or quick moving enough to actually get anything that complicated done! Hope you have a great week!

  41. I don't keep up well with the news, but sometimes I get sucked into reading the comments on a NYT article on Facebook or on Twitter that remind me what a huge division there still is in this country. I'm lucky to live in a liberal state, where I'm in the majority, but there are plenty of conspiracy theorists around here, too, I guess!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ooo, that City Center animation reminds me of Blade Runner. Like it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow. I just don't get all the conspiracy theories and craziness. Like, how does this make sense to SO MANY PEOPLE?

  45. I'm a Christian and basically a conservative, both politically and religiously. I see plenty of room to debate whether the government should force interventions such as closing down businesses or masking but debating whether Covid-19, a disease that has spread around the world and has filled and overwhelmed hospitals in very disparate plances, is real? Those people are just plain goofy.

  46. We had Chinese last week, too! 🍤🍤🍤

My mother took me to an Evangelical church from six years old to fourteen, and they were strict: skirts at least four inches below the knees, no Halloween, only Disney movies, church four times a week, but they weren't conspiracy theorists. Too many of them are riding the kook train now. 😛

I hope you are having a great week. 🌞
