Sunday Post 394

So... lots of stuff this week. And since I am not proficient in imbedding tweets in my blog I have one at the very end I wanted to share but I had trouble imbedding it so... it's at the end lol.

What's with all the goofy comments on lo-fi videos? Ex) The better tanker architecturally suspect because wolf clinically tap modulo a spotted spear. daffy, cultured asia ??? Is this just spammers/ bots or is this like... a thing?

Oh, the FUCK BIDEN flag down the street is a classy addition to the neighborhood

This week I have a night walk and spring blossoms in Tokyo. The blossoms one is an hour long but If you don't want to watch the whole thing the intro catches the highlights

The latest Bookish Games is over and here's a highlight. I was on the Mafia team this time and someone had the eavesdropping ability so they caught me - so we decided to speak in code in our night chat. Here's a tweet from one of the moderators- and a peek at our Mafia chat

  2. People and their flags -- we still see Trump 2020 flags waving in the wind here and there. Guess they never got the news!

  3. "Oh, the FUCK BIDEN flag down the street is a classy addition to the neighborhood".
Sure thing...if it were fuck-you-know-how, someone would have found the culprit already and cracked the sign on their head...

Death in a needle...even better...I respect fear, but stop terrorising other people...

So you like butterflies. I wouldn't have thought 😆.

  4. Sounds like you had fun even though you lost the Bookish Games.
Hopefully someone else in your neighbourhood has spray paint.

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. Sighhh. My colleague's elderly parents aren't getting the shot because they're Trump supporters. She's so frustrated because, who the eff cares about your political leanings? Think about your health!

    1. Do they know that he got the vaccine?? Coward that he is, didn't announce it until now, but he was vaxxed in January. What a waste of a dose.

  7. It's kind of amusing but also really fucking stupid for people to be freaking out on this level about the vaccine. I can't even count the number of people who swear up and down that it is just a way for the government to microchip us...ummmm, wtf do these morons think their smart phone is? The government can track you at any time with it - just as the seditious terrorists who stormed the Capitol and tried to stop our democracy in its tracks. I can't with these idiots any more, I just can't.

  8. It sounds like you have some truly lovely neighbours, take it they won’t be getting the vaccine either?

    People are crazy.

    Have a good week!

  9. There are always people who are like this about vaccines, even the ones that have been around forever.

  10. wow, courage with all that craziness around you. I'll focus on the positive here, thanks so much for sharing Spring in Japan

  11. Oy, I really think humanity needs a reset. #TeamALIE. Honestly, the vaccine thing is so DUMB. Like Agent Orange legit claims HE is the one responsible for the thing (eyeroll) and has gotten it, but his lame minions still are anti. Like. Who even are they following at this point!? It's like- they don't even care who they follow as long as they sound/act like the absolute dumbest beings who have ever walked the planet. My brother tried with the whole "I am entitled to my opinion" (re: COVID, the vaccine, etc) and I am like... actually NO you aren't, because it isn't an "opinion", it's actual, literal scientific facts, so. These people are exhausting, I have had more coherent arguments with a brick wall, I swear. Also, your neighbors are so classy, neighbors with little kids (or you know, people who just aren't crass enough to post vulgarity in their front yards) must be thrilled 🙄

I am sad that Bookish Games is over, BUT since ALIE won, I guess we can just go eat ice cream in the CoL, right? No more humaning? I'm in tbh.

  12. Omg! A trap?!! My manager has a masters degree and she thought that Bill Gates might have bio-chipped the vaccines "to track us all"! Yes, she is a Trumper. Still. I can't even...

  13. Sigh at the its a trap thing. Also, I love lofi music for when studying! As I often have it on in the background I have not scrolled the comments so I haven't noticed them. But now you have me curious.

    ReplyDelete
  14. LOL! Calling it death in a needle and a trap might be a bit much. But it might surprise people to know I'm not getting the shot unless I need it for travel or work. I have no doubt it's safe enough but I've spent long enough in the health research field and microbio to know the long term studies are still inadequate. But to each their own. For those whom the benefits outweigh the risks, they should definitely get it.

  15. Some people are odd. The vaccines are likely to be a boon for the big pharma companies who developed them, but that was inevitable but the idea of a microchip is insane. They don't need too, we all emit all the data any government could ever want without resorting to extreme measures.

  16. I loooove your posts, always so full of interesting stuff. I didn't know about the "japanese night cafe lofi music" and it is exactly what I needed. Thanks for discovering it to me. Same with the "tokio evening walk" i love these videos. The "It's a trap" meme cracked me up hahaahah I hope you have a great end of weekend. :)

  17. I can't read the words it's a trap without thinking of that scene from Star Wars! LOL. I get my shot tomorrow. My husband got his yesterday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh my lord. I'm so dumb. I read that tweet as "your mom told me you were going to get shot" not as "get THE shot" so with the rest of the tweet, I was like "wait, those are unrelated things. is the mom a psychic?" Oy vey.

  19. So I have no clue what lo-fi videos are I guess...lol. I am not real techie and don't really follow newish things...lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  20. Really nice art selections. I like the Ruins of the wind and Find our ways. Ruins of the wind reminds me of the Howl's moving castle movie.

    Have a lovely day.

  21. Oh brother about that flag. People are really crazy and obnoxious. The last 3 futuristic images are very cool.
    happy reading this week!

  22. So..I wonder if all vaccines aroused this much fervor from people? Probably not. This whole Pandemic and the aftermath have been so politicized that nothing surprises me, I guess.

But...I got both shots, and happy that I did!

    Enjoy your week.

  23. Flags aren't a big thing in South Africa. If you ask a large number of my students why do we use a flag, they might look at me with a few blank stares.

I will investigate the Bookish Games a bit more intensively this holiday. Maybe Stinkie can take part in the next round.

No Sunday Post from my side, I'm just popping in to say hi. Have a good week!

  24. There’s still a Trump 2020 flag in my neighborhood, so I guess some people haven’t gotten the news about the election yet. Also, I’m interested to know how a vaccine is a trap. How can it trap you? So much about this world confuses me . . .

  25. There's a lot of... I'll be generous and call it "ignorance" around the vaccines. We live in a rural/exurban county, and there are a lot of Trump supporters and anti-vaxxers around here, including people know and like. I try to encourage/persuade them to think more rationally, but they believe the mainstream media is lying to them and only their conservative media tells the truth. It's frustrating. Anyway, I wish you courage and fortitude in dealing with the "f*ck Biden* flag people and anyone else whose beliefs or attitudes are getting you down.

  26. I wish I could get my jab now instead of having to wait for it until September. Ugh. Well, what can I say about Biden? I am glad that he´s won the election and does what the other should have done last year. Happy reading and stay safe and well.

  27. I had hoped the political stuff would be over by now, but it's not. Even the vaccines are political now. People just can't get past this stuff, I guess. That's why I love my books and TV so much :) Hope you have a great week!

  28. I got vaccinated last weekend. I all of a sudden want to eat brains, but other than seem to be fine. Happy reading!

  30. A trap? I have many questions for this person but mostly what kind of trap is this exactly? Is this back to the tracking chip or some other new conspiracy that I haven't heard of yet. Love the ambient noise! Have a great week!

  31. Death in a needle, eh? I plan on getting it as soon as my doc tells me she has some. Hopefully my limbs don't start falling off or I get a craving for brains.

  37. That lotus picture is just... wow ! And those comments are weird. I watched the blossoms in Japan too and loved it so much that I sent the links to my coworkers, locked up... in their jobs, public transports and homes in Paris :)

  38. I'm not sure what I think of the vaccine yet. I have heard all different responses to it. Have a great week!

  39. Looks like an interesting week. I really don't understand vaccine resistance - but, then, I believe in science and medicine. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  40. Goodness the amount of paranoia out there on the internet is at an all-time high. It's not a trap. It's a release from this hell. Sigh. And Fuck Biden? I'm not sure why. He hasn't done anything even remotely controversial yet! Lol.

  41. I have three neighbors who still have not taken down their Trump flags and lawn decorations. I keep thinking I'd like to take these poor deluded folks some brownies and have a nice chat. Somebody needs to.

    ReplyDelete
  42. There are some wacky conspiracies doing the rounds on social media about vaccines. I'll take my chances with it and hope I don't mutate into a mutant angry vegetable...

  43. You like butterflies? Har har. What was the code about? Gimme more guns? Glad to see the game's so much fun!

The video comments do seem odd, and you're right, probably spambots. But some people also do use translators to post comments, and I am wondering if their translator apps are failing them!

Thanks for the cool scifi pics, grabbing them for my desktop.

  44. I love those Chill with Taiki videos. :)

There are a lot of Trump flags and signs in my area. There was even a billboard.

  45. IT'S A TRAP! 😆😆😆 Now that the microchip implantation conspiracy theory has faded, the new one is that you will have genetically modified kids after the vaccination. 😆😆😆

    I hope you've been having a good week. 🌞
