So I had my wisdom tooth out this past week and wow- what an experience that was! I've had my other ones out and never had a problem, but this one was something else. They gave me a choice of just having the numbing shots, having the nitrous gas, or full anesthesia (being knocked out). I should have selected the anesthesia option!

So now I'm recovering nicely and am able to eat actual food again. In fact I'm craving Chinese so I see it's going to be a take out kinda night. Other than that, it's been a quiet week. Although... I am very concerned about our school and Covid. My daughter's friend was "exposed", as they say, and is now in quarantine. There are lots of rumors about students and coaches having it... I'm wondering how long it will be before they shut down in person classes. My daughter does the online version, so at least she's not there, but I feel for all those students and teachers. It feels like an experiment that could go very bad...

  1. Glad you got your wisdom teeth out and it went ok! I think I will hold off on my extraction for a bit. But you seemed to have healed up quickly, so that makes me feel a little better haha!

    1. Thanks. And I've had them out before and it wasn't too bad, so hopefully you don't have any problems! I was a lot better after just a day!

  2. Our state has moved into the final phase of reopening. I was surprised even the most paranoid of my friends have started eating out, realizing that they can remain careful about their health and still enjoy life. Where I live, most parents actually want their kids to go back to school (while at risk kids and those who live with the elderly and vulnerable can still have remote option), especially since our county has really dropped the ball on our virtual schooling plan, leaving underprivileged families and kids with learning disabilities behind.

    1. I think you can do things if you're careful. And we can't shelter forever. although I'm still pretty leery of going out much... I did eat out a few times (with social distancing) and it was good. Same here with school- a lot of parents are definitely wanting their kids back in class. I have mixed feelings on it myself, but remote learning has its challenges too!

  3. Scotland is way behind the rest of the world-we can't even get a dental appointment if we're in pain and our trace service is a shambles! The area that borders my town is on lockdown again with cases constantly rising. It makes you want to just stay at home forever. I'm glad the recovery is going well and hope your family stay safe!

    1. Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. For some reason I thought Scotland had been doing well, but maybe that was before? I know there's been lots of backsliding (it goes without saying here in the US lolol). And I'm kinda fine with staying home too at least until they get this #$%$# thing under control?

  4. Ouch! I don't know which method you chose, but it sounds like it didn't work well LOL. Glad it's over!

At least your daughter is out of harm's way, but I'm not sure that online classes will ever manage to be a valid substitute for live ones, especially for the youngest...how old is she?

"Perverted urges"..."Could he do it alone?" -> WTF? 🤣

    1. I just had the shots. Which, was fine for the pain, but they had to practically wrestle the thing out. Lots of pulling and I had a huge bruise under my chin!

My daughter is doing the remote learning, but she does have practice for color guard and is coming into contact with kids, so there's always a risk.

I love how creepy Lonely Hgghway is!

  5. School is very worrisome right now. Because I have college kids, I've been watching all the colleges who have started out in person or with kids moving into the dorms and doing distance learning, only to be sent home after two weeks because of outbreaks. My son goes back to school in 2 weeks and I'm very nervous!

    1. It is! I feel for everyone going back and having to make these crazy decisions. My oldest daughter started college too and they went virtual. High school still in person with virtual options and all online for those who choose. Good luck when yours reopens!!!

  6. Glad you can eat again. Keep feeling better!

The whole school situation is scary. My niece has been going to softball tournaments - on planes, in hotels but they come home to parents, and grandparents (my MIL is high risk) and expose them. But there are really hard choices too.

    1. It is glorious haha. I had Chinese last night and getting pizza tonight. :)

I worry so much about that stuff. My daughtr's in color guard but they canceled all the events- they still go and therefore take risk wheneber they have a practice, but what can you do?

  7. Glad to hear you survived getting your wisdom teeth out. :)

  8. Happy to hear you survived! I got knocked out when I got mine done, I don’t think I could have done it the happy gas!

School is a worry, a couple of close friends kids have had to get Covid tests, when it’s on your doorstep it’s a definite worry.

The Station doesn’t Sleep makes me think of a spacey Where’s Waldo/Wally.

Have a good week and stay safe plus maybe avoid really hard food.

  9. I'm glad you got through it and are recovering now.

  10. At least the operation's done now! I think the idea of having mine out scares me more than when I had my gallbladder removed... *shudder*

    Hope you recover well!

  11. I'm sorry the surgery didn't go quite so well this time, but at least it's over now. I hope you feel better soon if you're not already! Yikes about the school. I don't know why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to open schools back up in the first place. Of course it's going to go badly.

  12. I am glad you are on the mend. I was knocked out when I had mind taken out but that was years ago. Ahhh, yes. I wonder how long it will be before schools just shut down for in person. So many outbreaks are happening around here... so I wonder when it will just be all online.

  13. I hope you are feeling better. Chinese food sounds like a good idea. The kids going back to school is a very scary thing.

    My Sunday post is here.

Hope you have a great week!

  14. Sorry to hear your wisdom tooth removal was so unpleasant! Sounds like that Chinese takeaway was well deserved - We had an Indian takeaway on Friday night, after a tiring week returning to work at school 😋 I hope the re-opening of your school will go well and that it will be safe. Take care and happy reading! 😃

  15. Hi Greg! It's Sunday now, so hopefully you are feeling much better!! That bunny picture is absolutely gorgeous. I have bunnies as a theme in my kitchen.

Schools are open and mostly up and running for 8 weeks now. So far, no exposures. We are actually hoping that the president will lift the restrictions even more this week. Only masks and social distancing.

Have a good week and eat as much as you can. Here's my The Sunday Post #10

  16. Yeah, back to school in covid times does feel a bit like an experiment... Hopefully it will turn out well for all of us!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading, Greg :)

  17. Oh I am so glad that your daughter chose to stay safe and it is scary to think of this as an experiment. Stay home and stay safe Greg!

  18. Sorry that the extraction was so unpleasant and I'm delighted that you are now on the mend. Yes... my grandchildren are headed back to school and I'm concerned - but I also know they are both suffering from being cut off from their peers. It's a hard one!

Thank you for the pics - and PERVERTED URGES is one of the darkest covers I've seen in a while! HOW OLD is the chap leering at her?

Have a great week, Greg. And I hope you and yours stay safe.

  19. Oh goodness that wisdom teeth experience sounds like it was horrid. Our schools here are back in and I haven't heard anything about anything bad going on. Though I know a school a few towns over has had problems and my cousin who drives a school bus has been 'exposed' and is in quarantine but she says so far she feels fine.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  20. Greg, I am glad that you feel well again after that wisdom tooth "operation". Here in Germany schools have learned over the last weeks how to improve things at school to avoid a spike in Covid. Kids have to wear masks when at school. They have to wash their hands whenever they leave or enter a room. They have to disinfect their hands when walking into a room or leaving one. The floors show now a line in the middle and everywhere are stickers which tell the kids to keep 2m distance and to walk only on the right side of the floor. They are not allowed to bring any liquids other than disinfectant with them to school. No birthday cupcakes etc. And classes don´t change. They have math, language class or biology yes, but kids within that class don´t change the entire day and they stay in one classroom if possible. And as far as I heard, chemistry and physics are not happening at all.

And last but not least: Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Love to watch them. One reminds me of The Hobbit.

Stay safe and healthy and happy reading!

  21. Glad to hear you are on the mend. Are all the wisdom teeth out now? I hope so. Most of the districts in NJ are all virtual for at least the first marking period. I think it's smarter to start that way until we have a vaccine, especially with cases rising again.

  22. I like the Bag End image.

Enjoy your week and your books. And the wisdom teeth...Ugh! I remember that experience well.

I can't believe some schools are having in person classes. I know I wouldn't risk it.

Enjoy your week, and stay safe.

  23. I hope you're recovering well from having your wisdom teeth removed. My boyfriend had to have all of his removed and I remember how much pain he was in and how difficult it was to eat that first week or so. I hope your daughter's friend stay healthy. It sure is scary hearing the rumors and hoping no one gets sick.

You included some pretty artwork again in this post. I saved that youtube thunderstorm video to listen to, I like music like that for when I am working, so I have some sound on the background.

  24. I'm sorry your extraction didn't go as well - what option did you choose? I'm pretty sure I had nitrous gas when I had mine out years ago. I'm glad you're doing better now! Hope the Chinese was yummy 😋

I'm glad your daughter is home, school is scary right now. I understand the struggle to meet kids various needs, which can't all be met virtual. But I worry about how things are going to go in the next few weeks as more and more schools go to in person learning in NY area 😕

    Have a great week!

  25. I hope everyone stays well. Parents are in impossible positions right now.

  26. Ugh I can't imagine the pain of extraction. My dentist wants to extract my bottom two, but I can't afford it!
My biggest fear with schools is that we won't know. If someone determines that the person infected wasn't exposed or risked others at school, we might not know. That is what worries me! Hopefully everyone will be safe!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ugh, that is scary to be having those rumors going around your daughter's school!

  28. LOL - Perverted Urge - you find the gems. Hope the surgery recovery goes well this week.

  29. Aw Greg sorry it went so bad for your wisdom tooth! I have none (I am an oddity I know). And my daughter will soon get back to university wearing masks and all and ...well we'll see how this experiment goes too!

  30. Glad to hear your recovering well. My kids go back this week, doing a hybrid and we're kinda just wondering when it will close again. Love your pics as always.

  31. I'm glad your daughter is remote learning and therefore healthy and safe, but it really is scary for all the other students and teachers.

I'm sorry you had a rough time getting this wisdom tooth out. I hope you are feeling better!

  32. Glad you're recovering well from your dental surgery. It seems the older we get the more everything is more complicated. Never like when we were younger.
Yes, Covid and school. I'm worried about my son who does half at school and half at home. I wonder how long before they start shutting schools down once again.
    Have a great week, Greg!

  33. The biggest issue with covid is the younger ages especially the college student age. I have a brother this age and had it and let me tell you --he and his friends have the attitude they "don't care or view it serious" this age of adults, don't think its more than the common cold. Now for their age its not deadly at all, but its still a virus to take seriously. They might be safe at classes because universities are taking all the precautions they can but then these students go to parties and don't take any lol that is the real danger that I see happening. I wish they would be better in their attitude though because their lack of concern only damages ppl's livelihoods and for some their lives.

I hope you are recovering well!! I do not miss the pain and swelling from that procedure. Many blessings upon you.

  34. Glad the wisdom tooth is finally gone and you've been able to eat again. Yes hindsight is always something we wish we'd known! Yes schools in the time of Covid really have a big question mark over them. Anywhere really where there are large groups.

  35. I chose to be knocked out for my wisdom teeth and I'm glad. My husband did the same as you and it was rough! Glad to hear you're recuperating. Glad to hear your daughter is sticking with the online version.

  36. So that was your last wisdom tooth? At least you don't have to worry about having to go through that again. 👍✨

Sebastian didn't get his paperwork done in time to start his Master's classes this fall. I was kind of miffed with him, but maybe it's better that he has to wait. SUNY B just started classes a week ago, I'm curious to see how long they manage to stay open. I guess the on campus students are going to be tested every week, but the students who live off campus aren't getting tested. How that makes sense is beyond me. 😛

Have a wonderful week! 🌞 Stay safe.

  37. My county hasn't had many cases until the university went back to in person classes two weeks ago and now we are having a huge spike in cases. I was completely knocked out for my wisdom teeth removel (I had all 4 out at once) but afterwards I had a bone shard that wasn't found until it rubbed an ulcer on the inside of cheek. Check out what I read

  38. Hope the healing continues to go well for you and you are able to enjoy your favorite foods! What a book title and cover!!

  39. Ugh, feel better! At least the wisdom tooth is out now.

I know, the back to school situation definitely feels like an experiment that could go bad. I'm hoping it goes well. some school are going to open here with rotating schedules, some are still doing virtual. They've opened indoor dining and movie theaters here in NJ but no thanks, I can wait till mid-2021 for that....lol.
    Enjoy your week ahead.

  40. Boo for having to have a wisdom tooth out. That doesn’t sound fun, I would always pick anaesthesia when it comes to the dentist as I am not a fan anyway but that’s just me. Glad you’re back on to foods now though, that would be the worst part being hungry but your mouth being too sore for solids.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So glad you made it through the wisdom tooth surgery in one piece! I totally would have gotten the nitrous. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm glad you are feeling better after your wisdom tooth issue. I would have opted for full anesthesia being a dental wimp. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  43. I had 3 removed and lived on vanilla ice-cream, I could not eat it for years afterwards ;) I am glad it went well

  44. Yikes 😲 My son had part of it done when he was 17, and all was well. Fast forward to age 35 and he had pain! Then he had to go back 3 times to have something repaired because it wasn't healing. I'm so glad you're doing much better. The school and Covid-19 situation is so stessful for many people. So sad. Stay well and be safe. Hugs, RO

  45. I never had my wisdom teeth out, and they did not bother me...until I turned fifty and they started moving my teeth around. I ended up having to have braces again! So, a little pain now is worth it, I think.

Not sure what people are thinking starting back to in-person schools...sounds like a very bad idea to me!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm concerned about COVID and the schools too. I have my son doing the virtual as well, but many of the kids will switch from virtual to in person next month and I worry about how it will go. One of our universities sent students back in person and within less than 2 weeks reported 500 cases of COVID and switched to a virtual environment.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm glad the wisdom tooth extraction is behind you! Schools back home chose the virtual option but I don't know how parents are doing it. My aunt is a 1st-grade teacher's assistant. Their kids have to be online 3 or 4 times a day! I don't know how parents with more than one child are managing it. At least they're safer than if they were in-person.

    Enjoy your week!

  48. Ouch! as painful as it sounds, I bet you're glad the wisdom tooth stuff is over! And, gosh, the Ganesha pic! It's beauitful!

  49. Sorry to hear that this extraction was worse than the others. I opted for full anesthesia for both of mine. Sounds like that's the way to go! Hope you enjoyed that Chinese takeout. :)
