So we have snow! I woke up to a light dusting of snow and it was really pretty because the leaves on the trees are all yellow and they were dusted with snow too. I mean, yes, it's way too early for snow but I have to admit it was kinda neat. So... there's that. And it got cold. Anyway, in other news- it's SciFi Month! And it's off to quite the great start. There have been a ton of posts, they are really killing it this year. And I want to jump in, so this will be my official "joining SciFi Month" post.

Also the HoHoHo readathon starts today, I believe? I love this readathon and usually try to participate, but right now I only have one holiday- themed mystery so I might skip it. I kinda have my hands full with SciFi Month, but I guess winter themed books in general count too so maybe I'll still get a chance.

Oh, I have a funny story. So our trash pick-up has one of those mechanical arm thingies that lift the trash barrel and empty it into the truck, right? Well this morning it was trash pick-up but something went awry. The mechanical arm dropped our entire barrel into the truck! Plus some things fell out, so the poor driver got out and was trying to throw a pizza box and various other things into the truck. The pizza box kept falling back out though. Finally he got that straightened out and then proceeded to climb up on the mechanical arm to reach our barrel... which was in the truck.

Luckily he was able to fish it out without killing himself or falling in the truck. So here's this guy hanging off the top of the truck, trying to fish our barrel out. And the poor guy just about fell getting down. I hope the guy's day got better...

  2. Some very whimsical art pieces this week! The creative minds of some of these artists, just wow!

  3. One is called peoplebeer? Huh

Oh and I woke up to snow too!

  4. It is way to early for snow but I'd be excited if I woke up and saw some had fallen too. Our temperatures have reached 0-1c at points over the past couple of days which is much colder than autumn usually is! It's weird.

  5. The forecasters are threatening that the UK might get some snow next week but I doubt we'll get any where I am. I don't mind it except shovelling it off the path so the postman doesn't slip and kill himself! I'm making a start to my December posts or at least the ones I can plan ahead. That lets me concentrate on book tags and the end of year survey and still have time to myself for TV!

  6. ww already snow ? it's starting to get cold in the south of France but last week people were swimming at the beach so it's a big change just for us but snow is not for us yet

  7. Poor trash guy. Glad he was able to get your barrel out though. I'm hoping we get a little snow here this Winter.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'd love to get snow! We get snow about once every 10 years, lol. Once in a while the conditions are just right, I feel like this might be the year😁

  9. And WHY are there no pictures of the trash truck drama? LOL Just kidding. Would've been awful if you were snapping pictures and the guy was trash compacted to death or something. I'm really glad he got the can out without killing himself. Lordy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Funny about the trash drama. Glad you got it worked out! Love the cover of The Wilder Girls.

  11. I can't believe your trash barrel fell into the garbage truck! That's hilarious. I would've loved to watch that scene play out. :D Love the artwork!

  12. OMG, that poor garbageman! I would have been scared climbing all over and in that truck to get the can out. I think we may get our first bit of snow this coming week!

    ReplyDelete
  13. EEEK! I am not ready for snow. So far, the forecast originally predicting snow changed when the day came closer and we escaped any frozen precipitation. Poor sanitation man! That's rough when your truck starts losing pieces.

  14. I don't know where you live but it's snowing here too! November is that time a year where the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful lmao!

  15. Sounds like a beautiful snow day. Ah, gotta love Charlie Brown. Your poor trash guy! Have fun with SciFi Month, Greg! :)

  16. Oh my gosh, that poor driver! As you said, hopefully, the rest of his day got much better after that!
It snowed at a higher elevation here on Thursday, so all the mountains were snowcapped, it was beautiful. But I'm not fully ready for winter to actually arrive yet.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  17. That poor garbageman! In some areas we´ve got snow too. Nothing that will last, but the first snow is always a wonderful thing. Nights are now very cold and going outside is no fun if you are not wearing the right clothes.

  18. It is already time for Christmas reads? OMG time flies. I will try and read some seasonal books but I have a lot on my TBR already so I am not so sure. I hope you have a great week ahead.

  19. Oh wow, snow! It's so weird because here in the Southern Hemisphere, summer is starting to show its true colours. I hope the readathon goes well :) I just started reading Wilder Girls, and I am five chapters in at the moment! I hope I'll like it x Have a good week ahead!

  21. We're supposed to get some snow here early next week, but I stopped trusting the weather people years ago. We'll see. Hope you get some good sci-fi reading in!

  22. Urg - snow! I hate the stuff and luckily we don't get much, living right on the south coast of England. Yes... Sci Fi Month is absolutely brilliant, isn't it??? Glad you're enjoying it too:). Fabulous images again this week - and it's a nice change to see the blonde on the pulp cover being the murderer, instead of the victim! Have a great week, Greg:)

  23. snow!? Wow, yeah, way too early for that (for me). But I do admit, the snow on the leaves does sound pretty.

LOL poor guy! Sounds like he's having a rough day. Hopefully he can laugh at it and had a better one by the end.

Hope you have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow, snow already?! We're having slightly cooler weather here which just means beautiful afternoons for once! I'm trying to enjoy them. :)
    Have a great week, Greg!

  25. Wow, it is so early for snow. It was cold here for Halloween and it's never cold that early. I'm definitely bundled inside this weekend. (Although it's not nearly as cold here.)

    ReplyDelete
  26. We are probably getting snow tomorrow and I am not happy but today is suppose to be almost 70! I mean come on! Though they say it will be to warm to stick unless their small chance turns into something bigger which you never know!

I really like the looks of that old book cover you have on here, I wish I could find more of those actual books to collect just for fun...lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  27. That Peanuts gif is cute! Unfortunately we have the opposite of snow here.

Wishing you a great reading week

  28. Those trashmen and women do not get paid enough. In the town where I grew up, one of the drivers recently ran over the man throwing the barrels in the truck, and it took his life. It's so darn scary!

We had a lot of spitting snow earlier this week, but none of it stuck. We're expecting more snow this week, so we'll see what happens!

I got an ARC of the Rory Power book, but after hearing how gory it is, I've been putting it off. I really need to woman up and just read it. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Snow! Wow. But then, you're further north than we are, so I guess it shouldn't surprise me. It did drop below freezing here for the first time last night, though.

I'm glad the trash guy was able to recover your bin without getting hurt. They can't pay those folks enough.

I need to read that Kathleen Baldwin series. I started the first book a few years ago. I liked it, but it had to go back to the library before I could finish it. I keep forgetting to put a hold on it again.

  30. We hardly get snow here (I'm on the seaside), but I suppose it would be early for it even if we did. Then again, the summer-to-winter transition gets more and more abrupt each year. A sprinkle of snow is nice though.

Looking forward to your sci-fi reviews!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh my goodness... snow! And here I am getting all excited because it's in the 60's today. LOL Poor garbage pick-up guy. I sure hope his day got better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ah well Greg it was not his day indeed!!! And snow? Here it is still too warm for the season! Enjoy snow's beauty and have fun with Science Fiction this month!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ohhh what is this HoHoHo Readathon that you speak? I'm curious.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm so jealous you got snow!!! I would have told the poor truck driver to just leave the can-you can get another one! He was probably cursing technology that was suppose to make things easier!

    ReplyDelete
  35. We had snow and it got really cold, too, it was 12° last night. That's January weather. Ugh. 😩

I'm doing SciFi month, too! πŸš€

I love the huts on the stacked rocks. 😊

Have a wonderful, and warmer, new week! 🌞

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah, we're expecting 10-15 cm of snow tomorrow. Not ready at all for that! Getting my snow tires on tomorrow. In Quebec, they are obligatory from Dec 1 to March 15. Enjoy sci-fi month!

    ReplyDelete
  37. That does sound really pretty with the two seasons blending like that. Have fun doing Sci Fi month. I'm sure it will have me adding tons of new reads to my TBR. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yikes.. it sounds like a very bad day for the trash guy! LOL!! I bet it looked kind of hilarious though!
Snow? Really?! Ow I can't wait for snow!!
Have a great week and happy reading!

  39. Hi, Greg! Oh wow, I am not ready for snow yet. The cold is already getting to me. I guess I'm not a winter kind of person, although I am enjoying the cozy vibes and tea season. I love how it says "and MURDER!" on the pulp cover hahaha like NOW I have to read it. Have a good week!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sci-fi month sounds awesome! And YAY Wilder Girls! I loved that book so much. Amazing art, as always!

  41. Seems really early for snow. We moved to a warmer climate so no more snow for me. Sci Fi month sounds like fun. Enjoy and have a great week!

  44. Snow already?! I bet it looks beautiful, but odd, against the autumnal backdrop still.

Nice images included this week; I love the last three.

    Enjoy SciFi month! Happy reading!

  45. Great images. The Temple of the Flying Crane looks really good.

That trash story would have made a cute video. LOL

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  46. I feel cold just hearing you had snow. Apparently a couple of places here has a sprinkling but I am not ready for cold weather yet. I'm till sad I'm digging out the fluffy pjs and scarf and gloves. I haven't even invested in a new winter coat yet. And that poor truck driver! Glad to hear he managed to fish it out avoiding injury.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ohh, snow!! So it's already winter at your place. Here finally stopped being so sunny and hot.
    It's finally autumn.
    I hope you'll have fun during sci-fi month! πŸ™‹

  48. Snow!!! Too soon lol

Our rainy season is starting late and I'm happy about that but I'm moving tomorrow and after that the weather can do whatever it wants. lol

  50. We have had snow a couple of times. Just a dusting on the ground so far which is quite enough for me. It's too early! Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  51. The above comment was not for this blog. Sorry.
Enjoy your reads and have a good week.

  52. Yay snow!! We have had 3 snow storms now haha. I live in Colorado so its not unusual for us to get early snow, but it came earlier than normal this year (but we were back up to 70 degrees last weekend)

    ReplyDelete
  53. As always, I love the art you're sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looooove the art, as always! It snowed here today and I might have loved it for the 2-hr delay except I was like "they will NOT delay school for a dusting" only.. they did and I had to turn around and go back home, so. Also that poor garbage man! I mean, as if being the garbage man doesn't suck enough, he's all wrapped up in your rubbish! I hope dude wins the lottery tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow snow? It was in the 80's today where I live! I'm still waiting for it to get cold :). I hope you have a great sci-fi reading month Greg!!!
