Best Books of 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by
That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is the best books I read in 2018- the annual best of list. It's always interesting to go back and look at my ratings and see which books really worked for me over the last twelve months. This year I seem to have gravitated to suspenseful reads. Seems right. So here are my favorites of 2018.

The Wolves of Winter

Bad Girls with Perfect Faces

The Cheerleaders

The Lies They Tell

Contagion (Contagion, #1)

Record of a Spaceborn Few (Wayfarers, #3)

An Unwanted Guest

Obscura

Echoes

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials, #1)

  4. I still have yet to read any of these... I started Contagion, but it had to go back to the library before I finished it. It's great to know that it was one of your favourites, I'll look forward to reading it!

  5. I have not read any of those! I am missing out

  6. 'Wolves' has a really interesting cover design (love the font and the dark palette goes well with what I'd imagine the book to be about), and I've seen The Cheerleaders around the blogging community. Sometimes a good suspense story is the perfect kind of read.

Glad you discovered some great 2018 read, Greg - happy 2019!

  12. I must admit that I have not read any of these, but some covers are very appealing. This year I started reading more mystery novels as well, so I`ll check out some of these books on Goodreads. Happy New Year!

  42. I do recall seeing a lot of reviews for suspenseful books on your blog in 2018, so that does make sense! Glad you found these amazing books!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cheerleaders -- I soo need to get to that next!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I remember all these reviews You were so enthusiastic about these books that many of them are on 2019 TBR now! I'm especially excited about the Wolves of Winter, Contagion, and Echoes! I hope 2019 is even better for you Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  45. The covers to all of these are all so dark and mysterious! I love it. Great list! I hope 2019 brings you even more books to enjoy :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Of course there's a Becky Chambers book on here, I need to read it which I see every time I see the cover anywhere. And I always enjoy coming over to your blog and reading your reviews of the more suspenseful releases, it tells me whether or not it's worth getting a hold of a copy or if I'll be left disappointed by the ending and I should give it a miss.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The Cheerleaders is on my TBR. It's funny how we gravitated to a genre, yours was suspenseful and mine was paranormal. This is a great list and hope you have a great 2019!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm behind and haven't really looked at my year end stuff yet. Have not read any of these but some still look really good.

  51. So, I have read about half of these, and own the other half basically hah. Wolves of Winter came SO close to making my cut, but it just fell a *little* short. Honestly if I knew there'd be a sequel, it probably would have made it.

I liked Contagion, I am looking forward to the next one. Did you ever read the second Extinction Trials book? I never got around to it, even though I did like the first one. I need to get Echoes for sure, and I have Cheerleaders, Obscura, Bad Girls, AND Record of a Spaceborn Few all sitting around waiting for me, so hopefully I like them as much as you did!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Happy New Year! I need to read RECORD OF A SPACE BORN FEW now. Hopefully before the end of January.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It is so fun looking back to see what stood out. Love the cover of French's book!
