Sunday Post #268

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

The Bookish Games continue! We are now on Day Three and the chaos rolls onward. Seriously, I love this game. The first two Days have been a little slow on suspicion due to some inactive players, but things seem to be rolling along at this point.

The FraterFest readathon ended this week and I did... okay. Life and those pesky Bookish Games sucked up all my energy but it was still fun- and a shout out to the challenge hosts who did a bang up job.

Movies That Suck will return with Night of the Comet! An apocalyptic tale of zombies and Valley Girls. Surely you won't want to miss this. Yes I know I promised Total Recall- it's coming- but seriously, given the season- Night of the Comet was a natural. You'll see.

BOOKISH LINKS

This is kinda cool. I was doing my Top Ten post this past week and stumbled on this- Carl Sagan talking about an Encyclopedia Galactica. I love how he shows hypothetical entries for different planets...

I'm not crazy! I just don't give a $%^&

  1. If you change the word 'hot' to 'cold' in 'It's Too Hot Out There,' then you've got an accurate picture of me most weekends lol.

The creeping Siamese - LOL Whut? I have so many questions.

I'm so glad you're having fun with the games. :D

    1. Haha I do rather like the reading part of that pic. :) And it was freezing here today- we even had hail, so yeah I can relate. :)

I know, right? What even with some of these pulps??

  2. Glad you're hanging in there with the games. I can't even tell you how excited I am for Night of the Comet. And yes I'm serious. LOL That is legit one of my favorite movies. I remember seeing it at the theater with my sister when it first released and there's no telling how many times I've seen it since. Can't wait to read your commentary. :)

    2. I've survived two Nights so far (they kill people of at night) so... so far! And Night of the Comet just came to me- and I immediately knew I had to use it!

Also Sam- I've seen it a few times. :)

  4. I don't know what the Bookish Games are, so I'll have to scroll back and check it out! And that pulp cover, oh my gosh, they are such a hoot to see each week. I remember books like that on a spinning shelf in the place we called the "candy store", a small newspaper shop by my childhood house.

I like the map of the Green Dragon from the Shire. Any LOTR pics are welcome. Have a good week, Greg.

  16. OMG! Do you know how much I loved Night of the Comet?!! I watched it so many times as a teenager, and probably more times as an adult, but it's been a long time since I've seen it. I'll have to see if Netflix carries it. Probably not. They have such a limited selection now. :(

I've never heard of it, but zombies and Valley girls does sound interesting. I like the storm watching picture. There's something so enchanting about paintings of people looking out windows.

  32. I enjoyed the Magellan's Beat track. And the plan of The Green Dragon; I pinned that one to my LOTR Pinterest board. "It's Too Hot Out There" is me most weekends in summer.

Have a great week, and thanks for sharing these!

  33. I love those images, especially the one of the reader surrounded by bookshelves. A perfect retreat!

Smokey and the Bandit made me think of Sally Field; I'm currently reading her book.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  35. The Creeping Siamese wth? lol.
I've never heard of Night of the Comet but that scene was hilarious.
I recently read about a little girl who found a 1,500 year old sword from a lake. I'm curious if you posted the lady of the lake coincidentally now.
I've discovered and rediscovered a lot of great artists. It's nice to see someone posting art on their blog that's predominately about reading.

  36. Glad you are still alive in the game!!

I did okay during Fraterfest too, but some days I was too tired to read :(.

Enjoy your week and survive the game!!

  37. I did FraterFest, too! It went . . . not great. I hope you survive the games. Have a good week!

  38. Cats on the brain, eh? I feel ya. Dead mermaid... that's different.
This pulp cover makes me think of Jessica Rabbit, which is appropriate. :)

I did okay on Fraterfest. I just haven't been in a big reading mood. Bleh. It's the season, I should be all down to be cozy, but instead my mind is like NOOOOOOO DO ALL THE STUFF NOW.

Yay for still being in the game!

HAve a great week and thanks for stopping by!

  42. Looks like you're having a blast with Bookish Games. My kids are big on games and Werewolf is one of their favorites. Your pics are like eye candy. I can relate to Storm Watching because it's something I like to do and have always done even as a child. Enjoy your new books!

  43. I'm glad you had fun with FraterFest. I loved looking at all your art pictures, they are so unique. Have a great week Greg!

  44. I loved Night of the Comet - back then. I'm sure it's a lot chessier now that when I was young. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!

  45. I totally need to do the Fraterfest, thought about it, but just knew I'd have too much life getting in the way. I always say I'm going to read a bunch of scary books in honor of Halloween in October, but then review books seem to mess that up. I've got to cut back I think! I always love all the pictures you put in your posts. I've got to get back to going to visit my favorite blogs more and spend less time posting for tours. I'll be interested in you posting about Total Recall. As horrible as it might have been, it was, and probably still is, one of my all time favorite movies! Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post on Lisa Loves Literature earlier!

  46. Lots of great art this week! Regardless of how you did in Fraterfest, you got a lot of reading done in general, and that's what counts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yay, you are doing great on The Bookish Games 💃

I have thought of taking part in readathons but haven't actually joined one 😭 I can't commit to anything at the moment!
