Top Ten Books I Can't Believe I Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader GirlEach week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Books I Can't Believe I Read. Ooh fun.

This is Not a Test (This is Not a Test #1)

I'm not into zombie books so this was different for me.

Omnia

I don't read a lot of middle grade but this was a buddy read with LaLa in the Library and Random Redheaded Ramblings and was a ton of fun!

The Shark Club

Not usually my kinda read but I loved it!

Grit

Another one sorta outside my comfort zone but I liked it.

Top Ten

Same.

Nerve

I think I mainly read this because of the movie?

Night School (Night School, #1)

This wasn't bad but it went on for five!!! books and could have two or three???

The Passenger

Not my usual kind of read, although it is sort of a thriller. Didn't love it tho.

Letters from Skye

Definitely not my typical read but it was good! And the author is the first one I ever interviewed.

Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick (Perry & Gobi, #1)

I'm not sure what drew me to this one but it was fun. And surprisingly dark at times.

  1. Great list! It's nice to see a positive spin on this week's topic as I think, like mine, there are going to be quite a few lists of books we weren't fans of. I've heard good things about This is Not a Test, I might check it out.

  5. I couldn't think of what to do with this topic so I kind of changed it completely. NOW I'm getting ideas for it but it's too late, I wrote it several weeks ago and posted it first thing!

  6. Great job thinking up 10 books. I could only think of 5. It is interesting to read outside your comfort zone isn't it?

  7. It's interesting what we end up reading sometimes. Totally unexpected. I remember reading the reviews to Letters from Skye and wanted to read the book but never got to do it.

  8. I'm never surprised to see The Shark Club here - I know how much you loved it. I also remember your review for Grit, and it's on my wishlist because of it. Great list Greg. Sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone works and sometimes we fail huh?

  10. My daughter made me watch the movie Nerve and I loved it! Completely ridiculous but actually a pretty well done movie.

  11. I haven't read a single book on your list but I think I wouldn't be interested in them except maybe 'Omnia', I seem to read a lot of middle grade lately...

perhaps I should read out of my comfort zone but definitely no zombie books.

    have a lovely day.

  12. It is annoying when books drag on, kind of like TV series that even though we love them, they really could of ended one or two seasons ago and been so much better.

    1. True. Nothing worse than a series that could have been way shorter!

  14. I read the first two Night School books, and they were okay, but I guess I lost track of the series because I didn't realize there were five and I guess I lost interest because I only have a vague memory of them...

    1. Yeah I liked em at first but five books... was not necessary. :)

  15. I loved This is Not a Test and the sequel novella (it's REALLY dark)
    but didn't love Au Revoir.

I'm really reading outside my comfort zone this year so it will be interesting to see if I enjoy something I normally wouldn't.

    1. I did too, This Is Not A Test was awesome. And the sequel WAS dark. I wanted more of those characters...

I like reading outside my zone sometimes, but you get burned occasionally along with the good ones *shrug* I hope you find some gems !!

  16. THIS IS NOT A TEST!!! I loved that book. I never read zombie books (they give me nightmares), but that one was an exception because I love the author. I have the sequel on my Kindle, but haven't read it yet because I have to be in the right MOOD for zombies.

    1. Yes This Is Not A Test was awesome! And I don't read zombie books. And the sequel was good but different, and dark... I hope you like it! I would definitely read more of her books based on those.

  18. The only one of these I've read was This is Not a Test, which I LOVED! I may have to do a reread of that one soon, actually...

  19. I loved Letters from Skye but found her keeping it all a secret on a tiny island to be unlikely....lol I love her books though.

  20. My list is filled with books that I'm embarrassed to admit I read; Danielle Steel novels, Tori Spelling books, and someone dared me once to read The Rules and The Game and I read them both. Sometimes I have really good taste in books and I read the classics and sometimes I have incredibly bad taste in books.

    1. You know it's okay ha ha because it depends on what we're in the mood for? I don't think there is a bad book if we're in the mood for it. :) Can't wait to see your list!

  21. A lot of people are doing their, can’t believe I read it because it was so bad, lists today. I like that you did a pleasantly surprised list.

  22. I thought Nerve, the movie, was really good. Did you like the book? I think it would be an interesting read depending on the writing.

  25. Have you seen the Nerve movie? I haven't, but I did hear mixed things in general. I haven't read the book either. -_- You are way braver than I am. For the most part, I am in YA fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary land.

    1. I did see Nerve, and I thought it was okay. Not great by any means, but surprisingly... good? I liked it more than the book. And I need more YA fantasy...

  26. Nice list! I haven't read any of these, but I'm glad you found some books out of your usual zone to enjoy. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.

  27. Awesome list! I'm always surprised when I read a book that's out of my usual 'type' and it ends up pleasantly surprising me. I'm definitely not a zombie person either, so I'd be surprised to read one like that also, haha. I like your list, it's fun to look back on random books and realize how it can be fun to read stuff we're not used to.

    1. Same here! I'm a little hesitant to read outside of my box sometimes, but a lot of times it pays off. This Is Not A Test was one of those, as I', definitely not into zombie books!

      Thanks!

  28. I haven't read any of those but I mostly stick to PNR these days.

  29. I loved This Is Not a Test and as far as zombie books go, I thought it was really unique.

  30. Buddy reads can get you into all kinds of trouble! I remember your review on the zombie book. I'm not a fan of zombies either but it sounded different than the usual. I have Letters from Skye on my TBR. I'm thinking because of a recommendation from you.

  31. You and I had a similar take on this week's theme. I'm a bit ashamed to say I've not read any of these though! Interesting list and glad you enjoyed books that were outside your usual comfort zone.

  32. It's always fun to find books I enjoy even though they weren't my usual read. I actually haven't read any of these yet so I'm going to have to look into them.

  33. I have heard nothing but love for Letters from Skye. The Passenger didn't go over well with Lutz fans, I heard. I've read the first of her Spellman books and enjoyed that one. Great list, Greg!

  34. I used to never read below YA, but then I read a few MG books my co-bloggere suggested, and they are writing some brilliant books for that age group.

  35. Hi! I'm interested in reading Top Ten :)

  36. I'm not into zombie books, either, but I'd seen This Is Not a Test around the blogosphere a lot and thought it'd be cool to read outside of my usual genres for a change. I still don't like zombies, though, lol!

  37. I haven’t read any of here except The Passenger and I didn’t care for it. I can’t recall, but I may have even DNF’d it. Nerve looks pretty good though. I haven’t read it or seen the movie yet.

  38. Ah, very nice list! I have heard that the Nerve movie was better than the book so... maybe I'll just watch that some day ha. I do really want to read This is Not a Test (even though same with zombies- I have only liked a couple of zombie books- they have to be, Idk, non-hokey?), I have heard great things. Shark Club I want to read too of course!

  39. Lists like these make me feel encouraged to step out of my comfort zone, because you never know what you'll find! There are gems from the most unexpected of places :D

    Great list!

  41. I was actually surprised when you read Top Ten. I’ve seen you read some contemporary but not YA contemporary. It’s great to take a chance on something outside your norm and end up pleasantly surprised. :)

  42. WHat did you think about Nerve? The movie intrigues me but I haven't watched it yet or read the book :)

  43. I keep thinking I'll read one of Katie's books - someday, but haven't as of yet. Maybe... someday in the not-too-distant future I'll actually read it. :)

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Greg.

  44. Omnia was recommended for me so I might try that one out! Enjoy your weekend!

  45. I remember seeing Au Revoir Crazy European Chick come through the library a while ago and the title totally hooked me - I'll have to check it out sometime. :)

  46. The Omnia read and triple review was a lot of fun. I miss Heather, too. I don't care for zombies either, but I loved The Girl with All the Gifts. :)
