Okay- question of the day.

You find a portal that leads to any one place in the world. You have 24 hours to visit and return before the portal closes. Where do you go?

  1. I totally thought that said Murderboat and not Murderbot... haha! I was so confused for a second! I think I want to read Bad Girls with Perfect Faces, but I'm still undecided on that one.

24 hours to go somewhere and return... Does is have to be a real place? I've always wanted to see something fantastical like Faerie, Tatooine or an underwater kingdom. Not necessarily mermaids, but Poseidon and his realm. If it's a portal though, that seems fantastical, so I'm going to stick with my previous answers!

    1. Ha right? I think Bad Girls will be my next read.

Hmm I like your ideas! Tattooine good one and an undersea kingdom- yes! I've always loved that idea.

    2. We have no idea how deep the oceans actually are, so who knows what exists at the bottom! Even as we are able to explore deeper, we still find life. It's possible there are things lurking at the bottom. It's an idea/concept that has always fascinated me.

  2. The Murderbot Diaries sounds intriguing! I'll check that series out for sure. Have fun with Longmire.

Visit anywhere for 24 hours? Maybe someplace dangerous that I'd want/need a quick getaway? Otherwise why would you only want to visit for 24 hrs? To be honest anywhere that's dangerous like North Korea or Middle East holds no appeal for me. Paris or England are beautiful so maybe an elegant dinner and tour somewhere there and then back home. :)

    1. I love Murderbot!! And Longmire is fun- I'm in S4 now, love Henry and Moretti!

Paris would be awesome, although 24 hours isn't very long, but nice for a quick jaunt. I was thinking Edinburgh as I want to explore and hit some bookstores in that city. But yeah dangerous the portal would come in handy!!

  3. I want to read The Murderbot Diaries! It looks so good!

A 24h portal? I would probably return to Venice with my mum or go somewhere Hamilton is playing to watch the show!

    1. Ooh Venice would be fabulous. I could spend 24 hr there. :) And The Murderbot Diaries are great!

  5. I hope to try Martha Wells at some point. Her books sound so good! That cover for Extinction Trials is gorgeous. I hope you are enjoying it as well as Bad Girls With Perfect Faces (which also looks good).

Where would I go if I could use an open portal? Only 24 hours? A nice week in a secluded cottage on the beach in Australia is out then... Maybe to London or Italy then. Or the way I'm thinking right now (because it's early and I'm still so sleepy), just back to my bed. LOL

    1. I've read a few Martha Wells now and enjoyed them. This may be my favorite so fat though. And Extinction Trials does look fabulous! It looks good in person too. :)

Ha ha I like the idea of London or Italy. Maybe somewhere on the Amalfi coast, I could wander for a day or get a nice meal. :)

  6. I definitely want to read The Murderbot Diaries! Hmmm where would I go? Somewhere quiet and surrounded by books. Wait, is that too boring??

    1. I can't recommend the first one enough! Excellent sci fi. And I hear you on books. If I could wrangle time travel along with it, maybe the library of Alexandria?

  7. I'm intrigued by The Extinction Trials and have downloaded a sample to try at some point.

  8. The Murderbot Diaries might not be for me, but I have seen every single Longmire episode and read a bunch of the books too. Good enough? LOL

If I could go anywhere for 24-hours - how about a shopping spree at Powell's in downtown Portland, OR. I could shop for books and also visit one of my favorite cities.

  9. I have *got* to get on top of reading Martha Wells' stuff. I've heard only good things. Riverdale is another thing I need to catch up on! As far as a place I'd like to go...hmm...my instinct is to say Greece! I'd love to go somewhere sunny right now, especially if it involves both the beach AND fantastic history. :D

  10. The Extinction Trials is new to me, I'll have to go add it to my Goodreads TBR! Where would I go? Hmm. Egypt? To see all the pyramids. Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post on Lisa Loves Literature!

  11. I love that cover for the Martha Wells one. I don't think that would be a book for me, but I hope you love it if you get a chance to read it!! :D

  13. I really need The Extinction Trials, it looks so good. And I need to start the Murderbot series, especially since each one is short! (I also just notice that the blurb is literally "I love Murderbot" from some author and I am dying hahha that is brilliant!) And I am so happy that Riverdale is back, I must watch it soon- hope it's good!

  14. YES! I need the next Murderbot book now!

  15. All of these books are new to me, but I like the sound of The Extinction Trials. I'll have to check that one out. Great picks!

  16. I'm very curios about BGWPF and TET! Artificial Condition sounds good too! I can't wait for you to tell us about all of them!

  17. Is it okay to say the Extinction Trials sounds fun? I mean, wouldn't want to participate in something like that myself, but I'd sure read about it!

As silly as it sounds - I'd visit Antarctica if I only had 24 hours! I mean 1) I'd like to visit all 7 continents, 2) it would take a long time to get there, and 3) it's so cold I'd probably only want to be there for 24 hours anyways! (Preferably with a nice warm place to cozy-up in over night)

    1. I think I might want to explore the world of Extinction Trials, but that's about it! And only if I could get away quick

  18. The tagline got me interested in Extinction Trials so I'll be looking for your thoughts on this one.

I think if I could go one place in the world for 24 hours I'd go to Ireland. I've always wanted to go and hopefully I could make the most out of my 24 hours!

  19. I like the sound of "Artificial Condition"!! I don't think I've ever read an SF book in which the MC was actually a robot. This book is now on my Goodreads shelves! Thanks for the feature!

As for "Extinction Trials", it sounds a bit too much like "The Hunger Games", and I've never been interested in that series. So I think I'll pass on this one.

Not interested in "Bad Girls", either.... Sorry.... :(

As for the song of the week, OMG!!! You pick THE BEST songs!! I should really come by your blog more often so I can find out what songs you're featuring!! I've already played this one FIVE times while writing this comment!! (Well, of course I LOVE to first check out the books, lol.) :) :)

And now to the question of the day! (Nice thing to include, BTW!) Is this question limited to real places? I see that another commenter, L, has already asked about this, and I heartily concur!! Because I have my heart set on going to Hogwarts!! I want to meet Harry, Hermione, and Ron, of course, but I'd also LOVE to meet Dumbledore! And then I want to wave my own, personal wand around and yell, "Expecto Patronum!!" I wonder what kind of Patronus I would get.... Probably a black stallion, since I'm a HUGE fan of the Black Stallion series, by Walter Farley!

Thanks for the GREAT post!! Thanks as well for commenting on my own CWW post!! <3 :)
