Sunday Post #221

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I had a pretty good week, generally speaking, and of course it was Thanksgiving here in the U.S. I hope everyone who celebrated had a great day.  Mine was full of turkey and stuffing and a mean Monopoly game that closed out the night. Other than that it's been pretty quiet, just healing and taking it a day at a time.

Sci Fi Month sadly is coming to a close and while I wasn't able to participate like I wanted to, I was able to hit a lot of the posts and still feel involved. As always there was such a great mix of reviews, lists and everything else. And while I didn't really manage many posts myself I did enjoy the variety of everyone else's.

Also on Wednesday will be my first heart patient post, where I'll talk about heart catheterizations. Fun right? You can read about how mine actually WAS fun, oddly enough. And until next time, have a great week.

  2. Oh Monopoly, how fun! I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving :)

A heart catheterisation sounds the opposite of fun, so colour me curious about that post!

Have a great week ahead :)

And yes they do not sound fun, do they? I would say the opposite of fun. :) But my experience was actually... pretty good.

  5. I'm glad you had a great thanksgiving Greg! I'm such a competitive person when it comes to any sort of game, so I can imagine our games of Monopoly going through the night too! I hope you have a great week Greg!

  6. Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner. My husband had to declare it a cheat day. Haven't played Monopoly in years. To be honest I don't have the patience for it. Have a great week ~

    1. Monopoly can be a time sink, no doubt. And we were all getting tired so it's good that it ended when it did!

  7. Glad to hear you had a great holiday. We haven't done it in years, but I remember when I was a kid, Monopoly marathons were a staple of our Thanksgiving holiday too. (Probably to keep us kids from getting underfoot while the adults were cooking, but whatever, we had a blast playing it.)

  14. Happy to hear you had a good turkey day! I love Monopoly, but no one seems to like to play it around here anymore, so you are a lucky guy. We had our meal a day late because Baz had to work on Thursday during dinnertime. He got out at 5:30 on Friday, so it was perfect. I am elated that we can now have book discussions during the few times we get to sit down together to eat.šŸ“

I have seen a lot of people mention the got Wild Bird, but I haven't come across any reviews yet.

I love the Abiogenesis music. I have been hitting those as a music bed while I read and comment on your posts on Sundays!šŸŽ¶

I am looking forward to your heart health post. I am sending all the good vibes for your quick healing.šŸ‘ Have a wonderful week. ☺

    1. I did, glad you did too. And I haven't played Monopoly in ages, so it was fun and nice to play it again! I even won, considering I started out with like two properties and a utility, that was pretty good!

Glad you guys are talking books. :) And the music too- I do find that ambient music relaxing and good for a background when doing other things.

  15. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Incredibly, I was also able to squeeze in Into the Drowning Deep this week, surprise surprise :) I had some issues with the science and the characters, but otherwise I had fun with it. Looking forward to your thoughts :)

  17. Sam's comment wins, with the Top Ten/Monopoly reference hahah. Love it. I see The Hunger Gamessssss! Time out. Did you finish it and not TELL ME!? I certainly hope that isn't the case :D Glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving of course, and that you were able to participate in the sci-fi month, because a little is better than none! And I am really looking forward to your heart post too, especially since you're referring to catheterizations as fun? I feel like you may be playing fast and loose with "fun" ;)

You were right, the Cinderella one WAS worth expanding! So pretty. And seeing the "before" the ball was nice too.

    1. I agree! And yes- THG!! No I haven't finished- I wouldn't do it without tellin ya- but I have started it. I'm just... blah on reading, haven't read this week at all. Maybe I will today? And ha ha yes catheters are not a fun topic? I had to put a little tease in there to get people curious. :)

  18. Into the Drowning Deep has such a great cover! I love the splash of red. OMG Monopoly, I haven't played in forever! I loved that game; I used to be really good at it, and my brother as well. We'd get into epic marathon-like games!

Have a great weekend, Greg! =)

  22. Ooh, Monopoly! I haven't played in years, but have such fond memories of the game. One summer many years ago, I was staying with my cousins and we played all day every day for that week. (I was a child at the time). Funny how I more clearly remember those events, but couldn't tell you much about last year. LOL. But then again, last year had some horrific events.

Nowadays my grandchildren are glued to their devices, and video games are their thing.

I do recall persuading the youngest to play the game of Life...but that was also a few years ago.

Glad you had a good Turkey Day. I had mine in two versions, as you know. In the second version, we had burgers and brew...or others did. I had a martini with my California burger (avocado, etc.) LOL

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week!

  26. I am so in love with that Cinderella art! So beautiful. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I am interested in your heart patient post. My dad had a heart cath procedure a year or so ago. He did NOT find it fun :)

  28. Monopoly can get pretty intense! We kept trying to play games, but there were too many small children running/crawling around and getting into things (mine included). We needed everyone's eyes to make sure they stayed out of trouble. I hope next year we can all get together at a more family-friendly home.

I'm glad you're getting back into the swing of things!

  29. It sounds a quiet Thanksgiving, but turkey and Monopoly sound great. I have also COMPLETELY missed sci fi month - and it's my favourite genre... and why? Poor planning! Somehow nearly ALL my review copies were fantasy this month... I hope you have a peaceful quiet week with steady healing progress, Greg:)

  37. Any week which involves food sounds like a good week to me. I forgot about it being Thanksgiving in the US until I saw all the Black Friday sales. And Monopoly! The board games which either brings folks together or causes epic arguments. I'm not brilliant at it but I love that game.

  45. Glad you had a nice peaceful Thanksgiving to get some rest and healing in. Though I'm not sure how healing Monopoly is. I'm not really allowed to play that anymore because it doesn't bring out the best in me! Love the art for Bag End. It looks so peaceful and calm. Have a great week!

  46. Ahhh - Happy Thanksgiving! Yours sounds pretty amazing. I hope that you are healing well and that you're managing to get the rest that you need.

Trying my best to hit a catch up on all things blogging right for the end of the month! Wish me luck to actually be up to date at the end of the year! Ha ha

  47. Glad to hear you enjoyed your thanksgiving food and had fun! I hope you keep recovering well! :) and stuffing and a mean Monopoly game that closed out the night.

  48. Oh no, your heart had to be treated or diagnosed? I hope you're okay. I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Did you bring a dish? My kids like to play Monopoly with my dad; it's really cute. My daughters get competitive with one another.
I'm sorry you didn't like the second Immortals book. When I read it you and I can compare notes. I have to admit I suspected Apollo in book one; I got that totally wrong. I was tempted to buy another turkey at Whole Foods yesterday but they were too big. Someone snatched up the 10 pounder. I hope you're comfortable and healing smoothly. Take care and see ya Monday.
