Sunday Post #197

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It's been a nice sunny week- a nice start to June. A short week too thanks to the holiday weekend. Why can't every week be a short week? I got a bit of reading done, and watched more Netflix. Finished up season three of Bloodline- anyone else watching it? Orphan Black and Dark Matter both come back in June, so I'll soon be immersed in shows again. :) And I've been writing. Several people expressed interest in more flash fiction so I'm working on a couple of ideas.

I did a Game of Thrones discussion post last week- maybe I'm getting my mojo back on discussion posts. Haven't done one in a while.

I reviewed What She Saw this week- a thriller set in Paris- and One Of Us Is Lying is up next. One Of Us turned out to be really good and I loved it.

I look forward to your thoughts on One of Us is Lying. I'm still loving the title on that one.

  12. I feel like all weeks should be short weeks. People would be far more productive with 3 days off and 4 days of work. I love this time of year, it's warm and not too hot yet. Today was kind of perfect- like, 72 and sunny.

I am so glad you liked One of Us is Lying, I am really looking forward to reading it (which, fine, I have been telling myself since January, but one of these days). Definitely curious about Hysteria too. Dangerous Girls was such a good book, too. The second to last picture, the girl looks like a Grounder hahha.

    1. Yes? And 72 is like the perfect temp. Sunny sky, no humidity.

One Of Us Was Lying was great! I really liked it and the characters really grew on me. I hope you like it. And yes ditto on Hysteria. I know it's a bit of an older one but that premise! And I have heard Dangerous Girls is really good.

      She totally IS a Grounder!

  16. I always look forward to the artwork pieces you choose for this feature. I love these cyberpunkish images, totally reminds me of something out of Blade Runner. The one with waterfalls flowing into the giant bunny hole (lol) is a great one too, that would make a fabulous cover to a fantasy novel.

  19. I wish you could send some of your sunshine this way! We did finally have a full sun day yesterday. I am too afraid of the weather forecast to look at it and see if the sun is going to continue. It has been hell trying to get enough light to take book photos for the blog. I am going to break down and buy a soft box. I used to have two, but the ex absconded with all of our photography equipment.Heh. Then I can take photos at midnight if I want to. Ha!

YEEEEEEEEESSSSS to more Flash Fiction! Thanks for the girl band vids and the art. Have a wonderful week. :)

    1. I wish I could too! Got hot today, had to turn the air on. :)

I haven't looked at our forecast. Probably hot.

Are you doing Bookstagram, or just pics for the blog?

More flash fiction on the way. I'm trying to decide whether to write original stuff or use artwork as inspiration...

    2. Kindle doesn't have a proper IG app yet, so for now my pics are just for the blog.

Original, or art inspired, I will read all of it. :)

  20. I really need to watch bloodlines and 12 monkeys I haven't been watching alot of shows lately but these to are on my to watch list. Which would you suggest starting with? Have a great week

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think 12 Monkeys. Bloodline is a good show but it's slow, each season is 10 episodes and it's good but for ten hours not a lot happens, you know? I enjoy getting to know the charatcers.

  21. I really like that image with the cute fox :)

  24. Yes! Let's just make Mondays part of the weekend. It has my vote.

I have been deep in the world of Netflix as well. Oops. But because I don't have a whole lot of spare time it means that I didn't read. One of those things!

I'm thrilled to hear you are doing some more flash fics. Can't wait to see!

Also I loved your GoT discussion post. You should do more on GoT. I miss your recaps on Dragons!

    1. Sounds good! Yeah I've been in Netflix, this time it's Luther. I've been binging. And thank you! I've got more flash fic coming. :)

Thank you also! I didn't think anyone was reading the Dragons recaps lol. I do have another GoT post in the pipeline, and maybe some others as well.

  25. We've had some days nearing 30 degrees Celcius and mostly sunny. I hope it stays this way with a bit of rain here and there. The constant up and down of the weather was so annoying.

  29. OMG, I'm so behind on my Netflix shows because I've been doing a Vampire Diaries season re-watch. I'm on season 5, but on the weekends tend to slack off and watch cable. I also started a Pretty Little Liars re-watch. Both shows I quit after many seasons, and I want to see how they end. I can't wait to see House of Cards and Bloodline. Plus, Dark Matter, Orphan Black, and the Killjoys are my jam. Ugh, and I haven't started this season of 12 Monkeys!

    1. 12 Monkeys was good. Bloodline I like but the third season was a little lackluster, I thought. Kinda disappointed. Orphan Black is my jam!!

  30. I swear I am the only person who has never watched GoT. I don't have cable or anything, so unless shows appear on netflix or hulu, I don't get a chance to watch them.
    Have a great week!

    1. Nah, you're not the only one. I skipped a few seasons cause I didn't have cable either, and I wasn't going to pay for hBO just so I could get that. Although now I have HBO NOW so I guess I'm doing that very thing. lol

  31. I've caught a bunch of the episodes of Bloodlines, because my husband watches so when I'm cooking dinner I end up seeing it. He hasn't started the 3rd season yet, though. What an ending for the 2nd season!

I've wanted to read Dangerous Girls for some time now, but just haven't set aside the time for it. Hope you like it! :)

    1. Yeah Bloodline had quite the ending to season two! Wow. I actually just binged season three and to be honest I didn't think it was that good, i was a little disappointed. I hope you guys like it though!

Dangerous Girls seems to get a lot of love so I'm looking forward to that one!

Many thanks for your shares - Tactical Neural Implant and the pic below are hauntingly good... I'm glad you are writing more. I MUST get back into Dark Matter, I enjoyed it but somehow fell by the wayside halfway through the last series - have a great week Greg. 34. I certainly wouldn't mind more short weeks and long weekends. I had to work over Memorial Day weekend so I didn't get a long weekend but it was still nice to have Monday off.

I'm looking forward to finding out what happens on Game of Thrones next month. I saw that there may be a one year delay between this season and the final season though. :(

Hope you have a great week!

  35. Apparently hubs is wanting to see Atomic Blonde, so now I know! And somehow from there I went to another movie preview for Victoria & Abdul with looks wonderful, ah the internet, you never know where you'll end up!

Neat artworks as well! Have a great week!

  36. Sounds like your June has gotten off to a great start. I like those shorter weeks too--most of the time. Sometimes though the work week ends up feeling even longer with one less day. I'm not sure how that works out. Luckily, this past shortened week wasn't one of those longer weeks!

One of Us is Lying sounds really good. I think I would like that one.

I somehow got sidetracked from Orphan Black and need to get back to it. I don't watch the show live or even in season, and so the new season starting doesn't mean much for me, but I really do like the show.

I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  46. I miss the sun. I feel like it's been forever since I saw it. *sigh* If anything, I have the excuse to curl up and read.

I haven't seen the shows you've mentioned but I've heard of them. Hope you enjoy your week!

  47. I didn't know that Dark Matter was coming out again. I have to record the series. I've only ever watched it on Netflix.
It looks like you are in a mystery mood. I've read reviews of Dangerous Girls and it's supposed to be really good.
Ha! That keep calm poster... I had the Storm Troopers "voice" in my head while reading it.

  48. Short weeks are the best. :) I used to work a government job and got a four-day week nearly every month for years- so spoiled I know. LOL

I am so behind on the shows. Dark Matter is on the list.
Neat that you're getting your discussion and writing mojo going.

    Have a great week, Greg!

  49. I read the first of the Game of Thrones books long before the series began. It wasn't my cup of tea so I've not continued with the books nor have I bothered to watch the series.

Armchair Book Expo, getting ready to move, drama club, and a volunteers' tea. Come see what I'm reading this week.
