Sunday Post #148

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It's been hot and sunny around here- a nice week. I've been enjoying the warm days and the nights have been nice too- still warm but comfortably so. There were some nights this week where the moon was out and the clouds were scudding by and it was great to be out- nice to be able to see the stars too without freezing! Lots of blue sky- now if only I were up north to enjoy it. Maybe in July...

Last week HBO NOW famously went down just as Game of Thrones was about to start. As I use HBO NOW to watch I was of course irritated, but it was entertaining to watch Twitter and see everyone go berserk. It took almost an hour to come up...

The showrunner of 12 Monkeys took note of one of my tweets and that was kinda cool- the great thing about Twitter is that of all the social media platforms it seems to be the one best able to connect fans and creators.  This show is one that flies under the radar a bit and so there is a real question as to whether it will be renewed for S3. I hope it is...

  1. Did you read the Invisible Library? I haven't decided if I like the US covers yet... As always you're a wonderful reminder of the fact that it's time for a Sunday post, so thank you!
That's so cool about the 12 Monkeys showrunner! I love that about twitter, it's such a good place to connect with people!

    1. I'm reading it right now, and so far so good. Apparently it was released but only in the UK, or was released here and went out of print- not sure but it just was released here and I finally got my hands on it!

I agree, I haven't always used Twitter to the max but I am liking how it can connect fans and creators.

  3. Summer finally reached us here too Greg^^ I actually sunburned a bit both last Sunday and last Wednesday LOL! I'm very curious to see what your impression of The Invisible Library will be! How freaking cool is that for the 12 Monkeys showrunner :D Have a wonderful weekend! x

    1. Oh good. We wait so long for summer it's about time when it shows up! I'm enjoying the nights especially, warm but not too. :)

  4. I really like the art you collect for your Sunday posts! The pirate tavern is great.
We are having a mini heatwave (though it looks like it will storm soon) and the nights have been decidedly TOO hot. I really like being cozy with a blanket at night and now the thought of covering myself is just too much.
And I love these fan moments when a creator (either an author or whoever) notices you! :)

    1. Thank you, I loved that pirate tavern pic. As soon as I saw it I was like oh yeah. Hope your heatwave subsides a bit- I love summer but yeah it can be too hot sometimes! We've had hot weather but luckily the nights have cooled just enough.

  5. I have my fingers crossed for you that HBO NOW does not experience any technical difficulties this week, especially with all the demand it's probably going to see because of the season finale! So excited for tomorrow's episode, but also a bit bummed because it's the last one for a while. Looking forward to discussing it with you! :D

    1. I do too! Although after last week I imagine they'll have it all ready for this week. Although you never know... I feel the same way, excited but also kinda bummed it's the last one. Looking forward to discussing!! :)

  6. It sounds like you're having some nice weather. I am not a fan of too warm weather, but as long as it stays comfortable warm and not too warm I don't mind too much.

That pirate tavern arts looks great! Thanks for sharing those artwork pictures, I always enjoy looking at them. Have a great week!

I have a movie package that includes HBO. I haven't watched Game of Thrones, but I'm curious.

You have some interesting images and videos, as usual; thanks for sharing. And thanks for visiting my blog.

  9. The weather ha been all over the place this week but it's was really hot today. I seriously need to catch up on Game of Thrones. I am still half way through last season, just hard to watch with the little ones around and they always seem to be around. :)

LOVE that pirate picture. I did look at it close and it's so need. I can picture it as a story.

I hope you have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

    1. It's been hot here- especially today. It was a scorcher. GoT is hard to watch with little ones, I would think- not exactly kid friendly! I've watched this season but the last few seasons I haven't, so I had to do a little catch up!

      You have great week too!

  11. That is awesome about the showrunner! I'd have been beside myself with excitement. The Invisible Library is tempting me so much. I want to buy it and read it now! I heard about the HBO Go thing and felt sorry for those that rely on it. How disappointing. Have a great week!

  13. I love summer nights! Hahaha - sorry, but that's funny about HBO. I can totally imagine the meltdown on twitter. That's cool about the 12 Monkey's tweet! The Talking Dead retweeted one of mine before and I got way too excited. :D Have a great week, Greg!

  14. Sitting outside at night? Certainly you jest! Don't you get eaten alive by mosquitoes? I've resorted to planting lavender and luring more birds into my yard to eat up the little critters!

I'm curious... do you follow Wil Wheaton on Twitter, Tumblr or his blog? If not, you really should.

    Have an awesome week!!

    1. I know? Although the skeeters haven't been too bad, weirdly... where I grew up they used to spray for mosquitos and it worked, but over here they don't do that.

I haven't followed him although I think I saw a podcast he was involved in... good stuff? I'll have to check it out.

  20. I would not be surprised if HBONow crashed tonight with the finale of Game of Thrones on but I am several episodes behind still and need to catch up anyway. I can't wait to see how the season ends.

I'm on the waiting list for Invisible Library. The premise reminded me a little of Ink and Bone which I loved. I am waiting for the sequel Paper and Fire which will be out early next month.

I always laugh at those pulp fiction covers-- how sexist! And the Pirate Tavern artwork, wow, the details are stunning! Not sure where you are finding all these great pics but very enjoyable each week.

Curious about The Invisible Library-- many are reading it now and seem to like it. Have a good week, Greg, and hope you get up north this summer.

    1. I agree- where I used to live they sprayed for mosquitos, buy here they don't, and they can be such a pain!

You're not the only person who doesn't watch GoT, trust me- although it seems like it at times. I haven't always watched it either and people are always talking about it...

  31. I love Twitter! I don't spend enough time on it to really know how to use it to its fullest, but it does seem to be the medium that connects people to each other the best. I get so excited whenever an author or actor or someone responds or retweets me! Lol.

That time lapse of Sleeping Bear is awesome ~ and only makes me want to get up north even more! Next year for certain we are going, I think Wyatt will enjoy it more than if we went this year.

The weather here was ok then boom - 100 degree weather hit. Yuck nasty out.

  32. I really need to get back into my social media accounts. I use to be really active in all of them, but lately I just haven't had the extra energy or patience to even remember they exist. I sort of miss Twitter.
That GoT finale was pretty good! I just want all of my favorite characters, except one (because she wouldn't really get along with anyone), to meet up and become allies. I'll be the first to admit that, that's way too optimistic of a hope for my own good..but I'm holding out hope.
