    1. Thank you, I'm looking to Magnus chase as well. It'll be my first Riordan and I'm looking forward to getting in on the ground floor of the new series.

  2. The Hitchhiker's Guide novels are hilarious. The last one gets a little weird as they tend to, but meh. I haven't read that side novel for ASOIAF. I'm still trying to get through A Dance with Dragons. I've been trying to get past page 165 for a year now. Maybe I should just listen to the audio lol.

    Awesome list and Merry Christmas!

    1. I've heard they're funny, and look forward to reading them. Dance with Dragons is funny, some chapters are great and some are... meh. I have been doing a re- read weekly on the blog and it has really brought home to me how the chapter quality varies- that and how the plot has slowed. I like the book, but the first three seemed to move so much faster. :)

  7. Great picks! I listened to the first two Hitchhiker books on a long roadtrip a couple years ago. Martin Freeman does a wonderful job narrating. Hope you enjoy reading the books if you find them under your tree!

    1. Thanks! I can't believe I've never read the Hitchhiker's books, I've heard so many things. 2016 is definitely the year I'm going to read them! I bet they'd be hilarious on audio.

  8. I wish I'd made a list. These are all so fun. Of course, narrowing it down to a reasonable number might have been a challenge. I enjoyed reading your picks, Greg. You've got some great ones there. I really want a copy of Black Widow Forever Red too. And The Queen of the Tearling is on my Amazon wish list.

I hope you do get to The Hitchhiker's books. They are such fun.

    1. Narrowing it down is tough! My list changed a few times as I was going through all my "wants" for next year. :) The Tearling book has caught my eye and I'm curious about it

  10. I've never read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy either, but I also want to try it! I have to know what all the fuss is about since it's so famous. But I really need to read the Dresden Files before I try anything else by Jim Butcher since I've heard SO MUCH about that series.

I've seen Alex + Ada at the bookstore and kind of considered reading it, but I don't think the art style is really for me.

    1. Same here with Hitchhiker's. I need to finally read it... as for Butcher I think I started Storm Front at one point but drifted away from it. Not that it wasn't good, I just never finished for some reason. I should jump back in, I like the premise...

Alex and Ada I was curious about after seeing Ex Machina earlier this year, but the art could be a little simplistic. I think I saw a preview but it's been a while...

  11. I love the Hitchhiker's Guide (need to re-read it!) and thought Alex + Ada was amazing. I'd love the Ice and Fire book too. It looks beautiful, but not something I'm likely to buy for myself. The new Jim Butcher book is fantastic! I love all of his books, and was so happy to discover how much I enjoyed the start of a new series. I hope you getting what you're hoping for this Xmas!

  12. I'm interested in the new Jim Butcher book, too. And I hadn't seen A Sliver of Stardust before - I love the cover; I'll have to check it out! Have a merry Christmas and I hope you find a few of those under your tree.

  13. So many amazing books Greg! I've heard great things about the Queen of Tearling and of course Hitchhiker's Guide is a classic! Merry Christmas!

  14. Oh, you MUST read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; such a wonderful book. I love the cover for A Sliver of Stardust. I hope you get your hands on some of these books. :)

  15. I hope you actually got/bought some of those books for Christmas! :D I read The Hitchhiker's Guide, but never the sequels - I liked it. I also read The Queen of the Tearling and I had some issues with it, but overall also liked it. And I bought Black Widow pretty much when it came out, read a couple chapters and then set it aside because I wasn't really in the mood for it, but I'm planning to pick it up again at some point! Can't see anything about the Divergent series without having to push down my rage anymore sadly :D I'm glad they worked better for you though! And everything Game of Thrones related is obviously awesome. I still haven't read the books, but I'll probably cave at some point, who knows.

  16. Oh a Sliver of Stardust has such a pretty cover! And you need to read The Hickhiker's Guide. The first two certainly are pretty great!
