Sunday Post #120

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This week I finished up S1 of Black Sails- quite the interesting show. I have so many shows going right now, where a year ago I barely watched any TV. I also posted Cover Characteristics, a Top Ten Tuesday and a post on the upcoming Star Wars movie (as I examine why I'm nervous about the plot even as I look forward to the film).

SciFi Month is over, was a lot of fun, and I'm gearing up now for Vintage Science Fiction Month in January. Details here

Blurb of the Week: Three Girls. One Life.

The Originals

Beth Fish reads reviews A Knight of the seven Kingdoms

These two are the best part of Black Sails.

And for Christmas...

  1. I loved my Nancy Drew mysteries...a few years ago, I bought the first three, but haven't yet reread them.

    I love vintage art work...

The Conspiring Woman looks good...enjoy your haul!

  2. I enjoyed The Returned by S1 ended frustratingly. I think there have been remakes and ended up getting confused as to which was which though!

  3. I saw the book cover spotlight and loved it. I love Nancy Drew's cover art. If I ever have a library I'm going to do a Nancy Drew theme. It's funny how TV works. It's either so many shows you can't keep them straight or none. Another Kate Parker! I still haven't gotten my hands on the first one but the series looks so entertaining. Have a great week!

  5. Black Sails ... wow, I forgot about that show. I had planned to watch it when it first started but never did. I have so many shows too, but I'm only up to date with 3 of them ... TWD, Doctor Who, and iZombie. Have a great week, Greg.

  10. I love the cover you picked for Cover Characteristics this week!
I don't watch a lot of TV but I really want to watch a few things I am hoping to catch in the New Year.

Timothy Anderson pictures are fantastic, those would look awesome if I ever get an office :)

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  14. I am very excited for the new Star Wars movie and cautiously optimistic that it will be good. I was happy with what J.J. Abrams did for Star Trek and I am thrilled that members of the original Star Wars cast returned for this movie.

Black Sails looks interesting. I don't get Starz though I am hoping they will do what HBO did with HBONow so I can watch Outlander season two without having to wait till it's on DVD! I watch a lot more TV now too. I started watching three new shows in 2015 and Netflix makes it even easier to discover new things to watch. My sister and a friend are raving about The Man in the High Castle so I may have to check that out too.

  15. I'm with you on tv viewing. I didn't have nearly as many shows on my Netflix list a year ago and now that I have so many and no time to watch them, well...I need to *make* more time. :D My son has ants in his pants for the Star Wars movie. I get a daily countdown even though he knows we never go opening weekend. lol

  16. I like those art prints, pretty cool. I also have SO many shows I'm "currently" watching. Which really just means I'm WAY behind on all of them and I feel so overwhelmed that I completely give up. I'm finally catching up a bit with Once Upon a Time, though!

Here is my The Sunday Post!

  17. I love those vintage prints, I would love some of them on my walls. They remind a little of the vintage railway posters we had in the UK many years ago.

    Have a great week!

  24. I started Black Sails season 1 but I have to catch up. I am so behind on all my shows I'll have to wait until they get on Netflix and just binge watch. I love all the artwork! I especially love the Monterey Bay since I've been to the aquarium numerous times. Have a great week!

  25. Nice to get through a whole season of a show. Hmm so you have become a little bit of a TV addict in the last year! Could be hope for me yet! Me - I have to admit I binged on Behind the Scenes of Oprah which was about 6 years old, but only showing here now!!

  26. Love the vintage prints, I wouldn't mind the Key West or Monterey Bay one on the wall. Can't wait for season 3 of Black Sails, took me all of first season to really get into it but I'm hooked now.
Cool cover on Under Water too. Have a great week and happy reading!

I'm in the same boat as you TV-wise. Last year I barely watched TV and this year I have quite a few shows I'm working my way through. Black Sails sounds interesting. I might have to check that one out.

  30. I barely watched TV a year ago too, but with Netflix my kids are getting me to watch TV shows I otherwise wouldn't have seen. The cover for The Originals caught my eye. Enjoy your reading week!

  31. The Originals and The Immortals both look like good books! There are a couple new science fiction shows coming on tv on the SyFy channel, and then one on Mtv, the Shannara? I'm excited for the all. Thanks for stopping by my Sunday post earlier!

  33. The Originals has an intriguing premise and I really liked your review on GR. Love the Linus and Lucy song; it's so classic. I always envision the gang dancing up and down and heads going side to side.

  37. I'm hoping to participate in the Vintage Sci-Fi month, too, but my queue keeps getting hijacked. We'll see what I can pull off. I love the cover for The Immortals. Wow. Makes me want to read it. Hopefully it's as good as its cover. :)
