Sunday Post #92

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This has been a good reading week- 2 weeks in a row! I started a new cozy and liked it a lot- my thoughts will be up on Tuesday. This was a good book , with great characters and an engaging setting.

Murder in the Mystery Suite (Book Retreat Mysteries #1)

Next week I'll have my thoughts on Murder in the Mystery Suite as well as a classic Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure tale. I als hope to have my thoughts on Tomorrowland, if I get to see it over the holiday weekend.

It's a beautiful day as I write this on Saturday morning- sunny skies and 70's. Time to break out the flip flops and maybe a trip to the beach. Looking forward to a relaxing holiday weekend...

CURRENTLY READING:

A School for Unusual Girls (Stranje House, #1)

Rainy Day Ramblings talks about book budgets.

This is awesome. Gamer mom gives birth, goes back to game.

  1. You have a nice mix of books! The cozies look very tempting, especially the one that is a bookshop mystery. Enjoy!

    1. The bookshop mysteries are great, and I'm quite fond of the one I just read too- I don't read a lot of cozie, but those two are winners. :)

  2. I own the Murder in the Mystery Suite but haven't read it yet. It looks like such fun! The Kate Parker and the Tasha Alexander series are also on my TBR. You got some fantastic books this week! Enjoy and have a fantastic week!

    1. I really liked Murder in the Mystery Suite, not all cozies are for me but I'll be along for the ride on this series! It was fun, and there's a little bit of a deeper mystery as well underneath the main premise. And the sequel is out in August, so not too long to wait. :)

The Kate P books are good, like them a lot.

  5. Cozy Mysteries are good in small doses for me. An occasional one! I like the look of The Adventuress. Enjoy the long weekend. Beach sounds great. You must be near it.

  6. I'm feeling jealous of your trip to the beach! It's not too bad here (mid 50s) but still not quite as warm as I'd like it considering it's supposed to be summer! I love the cover of the book you are reading, there is a lot going on with it but it doesn't look cluttered which is hard to pull off.

  7. We are heading down the shore in NJ today to have a BBQ with the family. I hope you have a fun day at the beach, it is suppose to be hot here today.

I might have to try a Cozy Mystery as I have never read one, it could be part of my scavenger hunt picks for COYER, out of my comfort zone read :)

I hope you have a fantastic week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  10. Oh my goodness. That appeared to have happened in Shandong Province of the People's Republic. They talk about her boyfriend and I wonder how young she was. I wonder how a birth out of wedlock goes over in the PRC?

Here, of course a teen having a baby is anywhere from normal to tragic but I don't know what societal norms are active there.

    1. I'm not sure, that's a good question. I probably shouldn't laugh at that story, but it just cracked me up for some reason. Gives birth, goes back to game- good grief! :)

  11. You got some great looking books this week, Greg! And Murder in the Mystery Suite looks good, too. I don't need more books, but you're tempting me! I hope you have a great holiday weekend and make it to the beach. The weather has been great here, too.

  12. Can't wait to hear your take on A School for Unusual Girls. I requested but didn't get it - and my library isn't getting it either. So I'm not sure yet whether to buy it. I'm also excited for the new Lady Emily mystery (though I still have 7 older ones to get through), and both those cozy book-related series look good, too!

  14. Hi Greg,

I adore the avengers, and basically just everything Marvel, lol. *Cough* anyway, onto books... you've got a few interesting one's here! Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar sounds good. But that cover for A School for Unusual Girls also books good :) I mainly like the name and the cover, looks different :) Different is good. Great post!

Have a great week, enjoy the sunny weather!

    1. I'm a big Avengers fan too. I still sometimes have a hard tim ebelieving they make these movies. :) Glad they do! I liked the cover too, and I've seen several good reviews so I have high hopes for that one. I like historical mysteries, and this one, while not a mystery, does have a certain mysterious tone to it, seems like.

You have a great week also, and happy reading!

  15. Good to hear you have been lucky with your reading! I had one DNF but recovered with a couple of good books. A School for Unusual Girls looks interesting so I hope you like it.

I loved the Avengers movie and I hope we can watch Tomorrowland soon. Have a great week and enjoy all your new books!

  16. We were pretty cold here until today. We had frost Thursday night, but I refused to turn the heat on, so I baked cornbread, biscuits, and cookies for Monday's holiday and it took the chill off the apartment. I have been interested in A School for Unusual Girls since I first saw the ARC showing up, but I haven't seen any reviews yet. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on the book. Have a wonderful week. :)

  18. I was really tempted to pick up A School for Unusual Girls from the library, but I am trying to get through a large portion of the unread books I already own this summer, so I held off. How are you liking it? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it.

    1. I'm just starting it, but so far so good. I've been reading some Victorian era mysteries so this is a different but I think it's going to be good. I like them somewhat realistic but with a mysteriousness also. :)
