Sunday Post #73 A Quiet December Morning

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

The first weekend of December is here and it's a nice morning as I write this.  It's been a quiet week on the blog but I did get through a few reads and will have a few reviews up this week.

I'm still panning my reads for the Vintage Science Fiction Month, starting in January. I think this will be a lot of fun, exploring some older stories and revisiting other ones.

NEW ARRIVALS:

Tarzan the Invincible (Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan, #14)

BLOGOSPHERE:

Check out the APP review of Dragonvale over at Because Reading- looks like a fun game.

Ciao Amalfi has a post this week on walking tours in Italy and 5 gifts for the Amalfi coast lover in your life.

  1. Yay! I'm excited to see you'll be joining us for COYER again :) we put up out Christmas things this week - though we also have gorgeous weather so it doesn't feel like Christmas yet. Have a great week! Have fun putting up the Christmas things :)

  2. We've finally started to put the Christmas decorations up as well. I'm already starting to feel panicked about all that needs to get done! Love the idea of the Coruscant traffic noise while working! I use Amazon Prime's Music classical for reading playlists a lot but that sounds way more fun!

    1. Just saw your comment on my post. The Librarians comes on tonight so you haven't missed it! It definitely feels like Christmas is right upon us. I'm hoping our decorations are put out either today or tomorrow.

    2. Oh cool, I didn't miss it. I'll have to check that out, I need a new show to get into. Enjoy! And have a good weekend...

  3. Rainy and gloomy here yesterday, and still gloomy (but dry) today. We put up our Christmas tree and decorations this week. I love looking at lights on other people's houses but we don't do them ourselves. Maybe one day we'll change that. I think it would be fun, but probably a lot of work.

  4. Enjoy putting up your Christmas decorations, I love doing that but won't do it for another few weeks as I'm too busy until right before Christmas. I always stick on it's A Wonderful Life and munch chocolates while I do it and I really get in the mood :)
    Have a great week.

    1. That sounds like a great way to get in the holiday spirit. It's funny how we all have little traditions or things we like to do. :) For me its the movie White Christmas- for some reason I always enjoy that one at this tie of year and never seem to get tired of it. Hope your week is a good one. :)

    2. I actually don't think I've ever seen White Christmas. I'm going to get on that this year!

  6. Yay for joining COYER again! and Thanks for the shout out. I am playing the game as I type this. It's always open on my iPad.

I really need to read Blythewood and I do love the cover of Ravencliff.
My house is all decorated and it looks like a christmas village house :) I can get a bit crazy.

    Have a great week Greg!!!

  7. I did enjoy the Christmas music - thanks Greg. I always found that in Germany, the Christmas music is more traditional carols whereas in England it's more pop songs. And I ought to join the COYER, lets' face it who shouldn't :)

  9. We just put up our tiny tree every year that I bought at Dollar General after I got sick of our cats destroying the larger one we had. It's nice though once all the presents are wrapped and under it. Feels cozy. Have a great week, Greg!

  10. I'm glad you're enjoying a nice and quiet December weekend, Greg!

You added some really nice books to your shelves, too, The Counterfeit Heiress looks good, and Mistletoe and Mayhem looks interesting, too.

  12. We've had a sunny, windy, cool day here. First time we've seen much sun all week. The Vintage Science Fiction sounds like fun. The Edgar Rice Bourroughs cover brings back memories. I read lots of his books when I was a kid. And I have the Charlie Brown Christmas album and have been listening to that and other Christmas music. That brings back memories, too!

  13. Th weather has been a bit dreary here, grey skies and some rain, but I don't really mind. The colder weather is nice for a change. Ravencliffe has a nice cover indeed! I can only imagine it looks even nicer in real life. My Coyer sign-up will be live later this month, glad to hear you're joining as well!

  14. The weather here was beautiful today... 60 out! Soooo.. I finally raked my leaves! LOL! Even though we have already had snow and everything. There were so many leaves my trash can was too full. Luckily the trash gets picked up tomorrow and then I will get the rest of the leaves out of here!

  15. I've been binging on Star Trek lately, both the original series and the animated series.

My tree is up and decorated now I need to finish my shopping.

    Have a good weekend!

  16. Sunny and breezy here in the 60s. Absolutely gorgeous weather for me.
Decorating is done and am now working on catching up on my posts.
I just watched some old Christmas carttons. Of course, Rudolph was the first one and then Frosty. I even found some from Courage the Cowardly Dog and Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Had a lot of laughs.

  17. YAY, for COYER! :) I love Bruce Willis but I really prefer him in the action hero roles he use to play, but I will probably end up giving this one a try.

    Enjoy your new reads!

  18. Both Ravencliffe and The Counterfeit Heiress have great covers. It was nice to have a mild weekend. I think I am done with decorating. Didn't put out as much as usual this year. Hope you get some reading time in this week.

  19. The Counterfeit Heiress looks great from the cover and I am off to Goodreads to explore it a little further. Nice to know you had some good weather, a coffee and no doubt a book not far away.

  21. I was a fan of the original Star Trek but haven't gotten into any of the adaptations. Of course I was young at the time but I do recall having a crush on Dr Spock. (That's not weird is it?!)

  22. Thanks a lot for the Star Trek video, I'm such a Trekkie that I watched it even though I know the dialogues by heart :) Enjoy your quiet december !

  23. Enjoy that lovely weather, it's stinking hot here and we've just received an alert about another severe summer storm. I love the cover of Ravencliffe but gee it took me a minute to work out what the title was ... vertical text was a challenge lol
Have a great week and happy reading :)

    1. It's a nice cover close up, but yes the text is odd, i don't like the vertical either, and it's a better cover close up. Hope it cools down for you a bit.. but not too much. :)

  24. Same kind of Sunday here - bright sunshine and Christmas decorating to be done! Decorations are up now and so is the tree. I'll get the lights on it tonight, but wait until the girls come home to hang all the ornaments.

The Counterfeit Heiress looks good, and the walks through Italy have me dreaming of vacationing there. Have a great week!

  28. Ambient SF city noises - now there's something I wouldn't have even imagined! Sounds interesting, and I know a few people who would really get a kick out of it.

The Tasha Alexander cover is gorgeous - I got that one, too, and I'm looking forward to reading it. Hopefully I can jump in with this installment, but I've got a few of the earliest books around in case I need to refer to them.

Thanks for the Star Trek clip, too - I haven't watched TOS in ages, and it's high time I did. Sure, it was cheesy sometimes, but it was terrific a lot of the time.

Have a great week and enjoy planning your Vintage SF reads.

    1. I stumbled over those ambient by accident, and was intrigued! I've been listening to them a bit. The Tasha Alexander books are good, some I like more than other, but this one has me curious and I've enjoyed revisiting these after a bit of a break.

TOS did have its moments at times, and I do sometimes enjoy going back and reliving some of the classic episodes. :)

      Have a great week too!

  29. OH YAY FOR XMEN!! I'm reading some comics atm, the first time ever! ;-) My library doesn't have a fabulous collection unfortunately so I'll probably only get to read the bare minimum. *sigh* Still. I love me some Xmen.
