So the thing here is just before certain people die they are... replaced by... people from the future. These Travelers take over the body- and the life- of the person who just kicked it. We first meet Marcy, who's intellectually impaired and under care of a social worker named David, who's a little surprised to discover she can suddenly read just fine. They have an interesting relationship, and we'll see as time goes on how in some ways they're the heart of the show. There's also Carly the tactician- also a single mom, Trevor the techie (high school) and Phil the team's historical expert (and a junkie). Oh, and Mac too. Played by Eric McCormack (of Will and Grace)- the team leader and an FBI agent.
The first episode shows us what these peoples' lives are like (or more accurately, the mess some of these Travelers inherit)- while also raising the question: is it morally acceptable to take over someone's life and not tell their host's significant other? Probably not. At any rate David and Marcy are cute- but we're going to get into all the is it appropriate for them to have a relationship stuff? He's trying to figure out how she went from intellectually disabled to sharp as a whip literally overnight- and Phil uses his knowledge of the future to get himself out of a scrape with the law.
The team has to get Mac into place so he can be replaced by his counterpart from the future. And poor David. He gets kissed by Marcy and has NO idea what's going on. Meanwhile, Carly's abusive ex is also a cop, which will cause issues. There's a powerful moment when Phil witnesses the heart attack of the cop after him, and can't intervene. Anyway... we get to the point where our agent Mac meets the rest of the team. And- voila- the team is assembled.
Sounds like a fun series! :)
ReplyDeleteI think my husband might have watched this show or at least an episode or two because it sounds very familiar to me. I hope you continue to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely an interesting premise!

This sounds like a great series, I love things with a sci-fi twists.
ReplyDeleteHow many seasons of this are there?
ReplyDeleteThere are 3 seasons.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteWhat's weird is, after you wrote this I checked to see if this was on prime and amazon only has the first 2 seasons for sale. I guess I'll let Greg tell me all about the episodes then :-)
I love this series so much. I wish it hadn't been cancelled after the third season. I'd love to see what happened after that ending. I am glad that they got to give it an ending, though.
ReplyDeleteThis could be interesting
ReplyDeleteOkay that one sounds really good. I'll need to check it out :-D
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really interesting!! I think I've heard of it or seen something about it before!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound really good. I'll have to watch this.
ReplyDeleteNetflix series never get recycled by free channels after they get aired - apparently, not even after a while - so I doubt I'll ever see this one...but I'd love to. The sci-fi twist and ensemble cast and moral dilemmas...π
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued! It sounds like there is a lot of depth to this series. I may have to watch itπ
ReplyDeleteThis show was wild - I had to keep reminding myself that the travelers were taking over someone else's body, and in their own time, they were completely different people!
ReplyDeleteI had absolutely no Idea that's what this was about.π―
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI watched a few episodes. It is an interesting program. Hope you continue to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see Eric McCormack in a show like this, but it was pretty good! (And oh Joy, I can comment on your blog again!)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fun, is it new?
ReplyDelete"is it morally acceptable to take over someone's life and not tell their host's significant other?".... That seems to be the critical conflict point of this show. It also reminds me a lot of the French show Revenants, where instead of people from the future, people from the "past" would take over the bodies. I'll look up Travelers, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember this one but I always loved Eric McCormack on W&G. Cool premise, though.
ReplyDeleteThis really is a great show. I am so mad at its cancellation, there was like, a whole WORLD of opportunity missed there, ugh. You should definitely mention all the randos from The 100 who pop in too!
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like a great series! I had no idea what it was about.
ReplyDeleteI don´t have Netflix, so no chance to watch it. At least not now. But your review sounds quite intriguing. Have fun watching it, Greg.
ReplyDeleteI like Eric McCormack in Perception so it's nice to see, well, hear about, a familiar face.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the show. So in this first episode, no one has taken over anyone's body yet, right? I'm already confused about Marcy. She hasn't taken over anyone's body right? She's just pretending to be dumb, right?
Have a lovely day.
