The Olympics are over and I'm going through withdrawal I think as I'm not really watching anything- or reading either. My Star Trek watch a thon has stalled this week too- although to be honest that is due to the Olympics as well. Our county was upgraded to a high risk county just yesterday so I'm curious to see if the school district here will change their stance on masks- right now they're making them optional but "encouraged".
The Olympic torch in Odaiba below is beautiful, and it's only a couple minutes long. This week in walking tours we have a spooky look at Seoul at 2 am
Song of the week
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
Poor you! I remember being, dunno, but I played with lego and watched the olympics and it was laaate! I could not stop. Now, I have no idea about anything
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll find something to fill your Olympic-shaped hole! π
ReplyDelete"Our county was upgraded to a high risk county just yesterday"
Awesome. Ugh. You and your family stay safe!
The lights in the Olympic Torch video are so peculiar.
Always sad when events like the Olympics end. But, hey, your wait for the winter games is a lot shorter than it would have been, right?
ReplyDeleteOnly four years and the Olympics will back in Paris ^^
ReplyDeleteStay safe out there! Cases are going up in my state, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad that the olympics are over. My sister and I were just talking about how there's nothing good to watch on tv anymore haha!
ReplyDeleteOur county health department wanted to issue a mask mandate for kids K-6 here because they can't get vaccinated yet, but our stupid county council overruled that decision. Why are people so stupid when it comes to masks? And I'm really missing the Olympics, too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched much olympics., but I understand it might feel a bit empty, if you hav e been a keen supporter. However, I am sure you will find something else interesting to watch. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe gustaron los juegos y los videos. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteI've also been going through a bit of an Olympics withdrawal. This was the first year I actually made an effort to sit down and watch some of it every day, and I must say it was really nice to always have something to put on (and not have to go searching for a show). Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLoved the spooky walk through Seoul! While I didn't really watch the Olympics this time around, I am kind of sad its over. I loved hearing all the stories of Olympians being supportive of each other, looking after themselves, and knitting! I hope you have a lovely week coming up!

I hope you'll get over your Olympihangover and find your reading and watching groove again, Greg!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading so much lately, mostly fun romcoms, and it's been very nice:)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

I hated that the Olympics were over too, but I imagine that once everything was over, the athletes were ready to just be home with friends and family to celebrate in person. I'm now looking forward to the Paralympics on August 24, and the new Fall Season for television. But of course, I've also got tons of books to read too. Hope you're doing well, and sending lots of hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteOur entire state is in the red when it comes to Covid and the Gov won't declare a state of emergency. The schools cannot require mask wearing until he does so they are going off to school this week with no masks. There are people actually sueing him so we shall see how that goes. My grands each go to Private School and they are allowed to make it mandatory so both of them will be masking up in school.
ReplyDeleteI never watch the Olympics so I don't have to worry about withdrawls, just glad I don't have to hear about them any more. :) Our area is kind of high risk, but it's just business as usual. Even Walmart and convienent stores have taken down their plastic barriers...so.
ReplyDeleteHope you get back to reading and watching soon!

Week in Review
I am glad the Olympics are over so I can watch Days of Our Lives again! LOL.
ReplyDeleteFunny, right?
Enjoy your week...and thanks for visiting my blog.
NJ has mask mandatory for all schools. Which I am happy about since the stay at home option isn't available at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Olympics but I am glad you enjoyed them.
I hope you have a great week, Greg!
I actually missed pretty much all of the Olympics because we were on vacation. We tried turning it on a few times, but always had problems with the TV. We caught a bit of a random soccer game, but that was the only thing we were able to watch. Glad you got to enjoy them!

Oh you poor boy *smile* I am sure you will find something to watch or fill your time with. Happy reading and have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteOlympic hangover? That's rough! XD I love that book cover!
ReplyDeleteStay safe! I didn’t get to watch as much Olympics as I wanted. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the Winter Olympics.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I feel your pain. I had finished Z Nation AND the Olympics were over and I think I had just finished a book as well so I was like now WHAT??? I couldn't get interested in anything. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOnly 5-ish months until the Winter Olympics if you watch those. I do and can't wait!
Ooo your pulp cover is very appropriate this week, as I just finished reading A Princess of Mars! π
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll get back into Star Trek.
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad here in Illinois our governor did a mask mandate for schools prek-12th grade. Our local k-8th grade had rolled out a mask optional plan-WTF those are the kids who can't get vaccinated. It's so disheartening. Hope you find a new Olympic sized distraction!
ReplyDeleteLove the walk through Seoul at 2am, had to share that with my Discord server. <3
ReplyDeleteOR reinstated their mask mandate but WA is still just encouraged (I'm in WA but right on the line of OR). My county has one of the lowest vaccine rates and highest per capita case counts and they're starting to fill up at the hospitals and cancel routine medical care so....I guess, here we go again.
ReplyDeleteYou're watching the original Star Trek right? We're watching The White Lotus right now and I can't say we like it but we also can't stop watching lol I hope to be done today so I can move on. And I kind of want almost everyone to die?? lol
Karen @For What It's Worth
Our county is high too, and our district is still on the fence about masks in schools. I am still homeschooling my kiddo but my nieces are all going to school this year and I am freaking out about it. I am hoping they enforce them. :(
ReplyDeleteThe county where my new teaching job, and I guess where my old teaching job was, are both high risk. Ugh. But that is unfortunately the way it seems to go. Hope you can get back into your Star Trek watch-a-thon!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
I love the fantasy music for inspiration! We're starting to see a major uptick in cases here too. We are the highest vaccinated county in the state but we are also the most populated and with the Delta variant its just craziness. I had kind of enjoyed not wearing a mask all the time but we are back to that now. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGlad they're over. With everything going on they couldn't be put together at 100% in the first place. Also, I was saddened to see that my country didn't do that well. Anyway, have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Olympics. I haven't been watching much of anything. I've been doing more reading lately.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week!
I hope something new piques your interest soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have withdrawal symptoms now that the Tokyo Olympic Games have come to an end. They were so much fun to watch, weren't they? Something to look forward to: as of right now, the Winter Olympics are in only 173 days!
ReplyDeleteWe watched a lot of the Olympics, too, and then have turned our attention to Schmigadoon. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm still watching Olympics videos, lol. Something to consider if you still need moreπ
ReplyDeleteBummer about the Olympics. It's nice to have that diversion when so many bad things are happening in the world. Masks are mandatory for California schools now. I feel bad for the kids since it's so hot, but it's better to be protected especially since 12 and younger don't have a vaccine option yet.
ReplyDeleteThe Paralympics start next week, do you watch that too?
ReplyDeleteOur entire state is in lockdown right now because we currently have about 400 cases diagnosed a day. Though we have anti vax/science/lockdown nutters here, thank god they are in the minority and protecting children is a priority.
Wishing you a great reading week
I enjoyed watching the Olympics but happy to have my regular shows to watch again. :) Covid is high in my area and yet no one has to wear a mask. I still continue to wear mine, never stopped. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThis whole Covid situation is so weird. I can't see why there is such aversion to wearing masks. They are recommended but not required most places here in Minnesota. I'm wearing mine while out and about but still mostly staying home. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm missing the Olympics, too! It's funny how wrapped up I got for two weeks in sports and athletes that I otherwise know nothing about.
ReplyDeleteI hope your school takes to wearing masks, students are precious and they are able to contract the virus. I wonder if we will ever get out of this. I am feeling rather despondent about the world today with Afghanistan as well.
ReplyDeleteJust watch Fear or Sweet Tooth, it'll be okay. Think of Morgan and Alicia as like, Olympians. Morgan and his stupid stick could be like, the Javelin or something.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the school. That is such CRAP. My kids' school actually is mandating them, thank goodness, but several are not. I do not understand how a school, of all places, where more than half the student body is not vaccinated, can be so freaking irresponsible about this! Fingers crossed that they change their mind!
Stay safe and protected! I also miss the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the birthday wishes! Hope you are staying safe and healthy!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching the Olympics this year. My school is mandating masks on indoors, which is good, but I can't wait until it is no longer necessary. Hope you get your reading mojo back soon!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the Olympics but I'm usually ready for them to be over so I can get back to my usual routine. But the winter Olympics aren't very far away!
ReplyDeleteMy county back home had decided that masks in schools would be optional but they changed tack last week and now they're required. This despite a handful of morons in MAGA hats, including our Congressman, showing their tails so badly at the meeting where it was discussed that we landed in the national news. Ugh. I'm so tired of loud, ignorant people.
Enjoy your week!
I went to the Fantasy inspiration music video to follow Blue Turtle and I forgot to come back! Oops... thanks for the heads up on this channel. πΆ
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good week. π
