This week is Top Ten books of the year. We all know what a dumpster fire of a year 2020 has been- but there were some good books! So here are my picks for favorites of the year. Hope everyone is having happy holidays.
Thank goodness for good books this year! I only had one five star read this year, but enough 4.5's that it pulled me through with 10. My reading definitely felt way off this year thanks to everything going on. I haven't read any of your top ten, but Kelley Armstrong's and Becky Chamber's books are ones I would really like to read.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping 2021 will be a better reading year!
I read so many phenomenal books this year. There sure were a bumper crop of hits for me. I liked The Cousins too. McManus never disappoints.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up my copy of The Cousins and I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI see so many raves for The Cousins. Thank goodness for the escape that books gave us this year.
ReplyDeleteI have been having a tough time the last... 2-3 years coming up with a lengthy list of favorites. Not sure why, but it has been a thing. I think it's more because I know more what I like than I used too AND that I just don't read that many books in a year. Glad you still found some books to enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for good books to get us through the year! Glad you found some you loved. Funny, I think the pandemic had the opposite effect on me because I read more. I like the cover for the Becky Chambers one!
ReplyDeleteI hope your holiday is going well too! Alone in the Wild sounds good.
ReplyDeleteYeah.. dumpster fire for sure!! Hoping for a better 2021! I agree, so many great books this past year! I enjoyed The Cousins! It was my first book by her.
ReplyDeleteThe Cousins keeps hitting lists every week. I really should take a peek at it I guess! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Here's hoping that 2021 has many more great books in store for you!
ReplyDeleteI recognize The Cousins on your list (think I actually first saw it on your blog) and still want to read it.
ReplyDeleteLost Horizon is a classic and I love that book. Quickly had a look at where my copy is, found it!
Hope you will have some great reads in 2021 Greg.
Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteYeay for becky chambers favorites! And I have sisters of the vast black to read at some point. Hopefully next year.
ReplyDeleteI've only read one of the books on your list and I really enjoyed The Cousins too ๐ I'm such a fan of McManus' YA mysteries! I still need to read Girls With Sharp Sticks and all of Becky Chambers' books (I feel like a broken record saying that all of the time LOL) but I'm determined to get to them eventually!
ReplyDeleteBooks have been a saviour this year!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any from your list but I wish you many more good reads in the coming year!

ReplyDeleteThe Cousins look really intriguing. Hope you enjoy New Years's!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the dumpster fire of 2020. My "favorites" of 2020 felt more like books that help me escape for a time from the awfulness of the year. Thanks for sharing. Some books I liked in 2020
ReplyDeleteI listened to more audiobooks than ever this year, I think! I haven't read any on your list, but I definitely agree that 2020 was a strange year for reading!
ReplyDeleteYour description of 2020 made me laugh! I would definitely say that you are pretty accurate with your description ๐! I have not read any of the novels you listed, but I am so glad to hear that you have read many great books this year. Reading is such a wonderful escape from reality... and even more so when the year is a dumpster fire of a year! I hope 2021 holds even better books and that the year is full of love, health and happiness for you! :)
ReplyDelete2020 was indeed a dumpster fire, lol. The Cousins and Sisters of the Vast Black are two I definitely want to read.
ReplyDeleteSisters of the Vast Black made my list last year, SUCH a great choice! Now I really must get to To Be Taught If Fortunate since it made your favorites list! I also loved The Cousins!
