This week is Top Ten books for my younger self. I'm not really feeling this topic so I'm going to get a jump start on next week's topic. After all, a cover freebie! And I've been wanting to do a post on Nancy Drew/ Hardy Boys covers, so this is... Part 1!
I used this a couple weeks ago but gotta ask. Why is the bear bigger than the plane???
Be careful, Nancy!
I love the speedboat and what's happening w/ the lighthouse?
Same title but totally different cover!
Shards of Narsil?
I really need to read more Nancy Drew books. I've been trying to read more mysteries especially in time for the fall season. And these are super easy to get through!
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to look at the classic vintage cover designs. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much food that bear needs to eat to stay alive?
ReplyDeleteYou always have the best covers.
I don't think I've ever read a Hardy Boys book. Love the old looks.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage covers, so kitchy! I've actually never read a Hardy Boys novel but have loved Nancy Drews over the years. It's great that they've been rebranded for a new audience, such wonderful stories that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
ReplyDeleteI was a Trixie Beldon girl rather than Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I love these covers -- I think I remember the 99 steps one in particular. And I did grin at the warning note in The Secret Warning -- don't just leave town, leave town at *once* or there'll be trouble!
ReplyDeleteOoh nice! I only ever recall reading a few Nancy Drew novels. I can't remember them really well.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I love these old covers, and I remember a few of the Nancy Drew ones!
ReplyDeleteWow these covers take me back! I love the nostalgia 😁
ReplyDeleteOh, I had quite a few of these books on my shelves when I was growing up... And I'm embarrassed to admit that I never read any of them because I was too scared 😂 You have me looking forward to next week's topic now!
ReplyDeleteIt's not creeping down the 99 stairs that's a problem...it's hoofing it back UP!
ReplyDeleteI love the style of these old covers.
ReplyDeleteMy post .
I have never read any of these books but I love all the covers you chose. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2020/09/top-ten-tuesday-books-for-my-younger.html.
ReplyDeleteI never read any of the Hardy Boys. They were there, but they didn't interest me. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/09/ttt-090820.html
ReplyDeleteThese are all such cool, vintage covers. I haven't read them, but my mom was a big fan of them.
ReplyDeleteFun list! I loved reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books when I was a kid, though I don't remember now which ones I've read.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading these, thinking I'd make an amazing detective! Thanks for the throwback :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday post.
I wish I’d kept my Nancy Drew books, the covers weren’t as cool as these ones but they were very retro!
ReplyDeleteI never got into the Hardy Boys (except the TV show), but I loved Nancy Drew
ReplyDeleteI always feel like reading some Nancy Drew after visiting your blog. My TTT list of books my teen self would have loved
ReplyDeleteThese are two series my mom loved, but I never really got into either. Probably because I wanted to find my own favorites.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices! The classic covers are so great. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren @ Always Me
I loved Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys when I was a kid so your post just has me sitting here smiling and feeling very nostalgic. :)
ReplyDeleteHallo, Hallo, Greg!
ReplyDeleteI can finally start leaving some notes on your lovely blog! My 7th Year surprise gift from Mum was a tablet - best gift she could have given me! I've re-routed all my audiobook & music listening to the tablet which enabled my computer to relax as I used to over stress its processing!! lol
I went a different way myself this week - as I was focusing on #diversereads in order to support & inspire donations for a library's book drive which is seeking new diverse stories for their library's card catalogue. It is a project near and dear to me and I had a lot of fun sorting out which stories & authors to feature.
You can check it out here!
I've been getting positive feedback on Twitter & my blog - the lovely bit is finding out which stories are inspiring my readers & visitors to start seeking out the stories, too!
PS: I have so many fond memories of the Hardy Boys & Nancy Drew! I didn't get to read the older titles like the ones you've featured today as the case files were available in the '80s but I'd love to read the original set of stories one of these days! Their timeless, truly! Such a great post to celebrate the JOY of Cosy Mysteries which are wicked brilliant for younger readers and adults who want to revisit them for nostalgia! These stories along with Agatha Christie is why I read so much Crime Fiction today!
Hi Greg! Whoop whoop!! I love these!!! I am going to take photos for you this week (if I remember) of all the classic Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew's I have in the school library. Books don't look like this anymore... Such a shame!

"I used this a couple weeks ago but gotta ask. Why is the bear bigger than the plane???" There lies the mystery.....
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I was big on reading the Hardy Boys, but I think the only Nancy Drew book I read was The Hidden Staircase. I love these covers. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI totally love these old covers. And while I've read a lot of Nancy Drew books, I never read any of the Hardy Boy mysteries. Though I did watch the TV show with Shaun Cassidy. :)
ReplyDeleteI never read The Hardy Boys but I watched them on tv.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the Nancy Drew covers. My older sister had several of them when we were kids so it's so nostalgic to see the old ones.
ReplyDeleteI read a great book a few months ago about the creation and writing of the Nancy Drew series, I loved it! Eleanor is super into Nancy Drew already (big surprise!).
ReplyDeleteI love some of these - particularly the 99 steps.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I wish I had kept my Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. Such fun reading back then!
ReplyDeleteI am very confused and very British.
ReplyDelete(Also, the stereotypical depiction of the Native American man on the last one... oh dear.)
