Well it snowed twice this week. Winter is back, I guess. I was kinda quiet on the blog this week although I did review Sisters of the Vast Black. Reminds me of Becky Chambers' stuff in the best way. Also last week I talked a bit about the game Pandemic. I didn't get a chance to play this week but another game that came over my radar is The Red Dragon Inn. Has anyone tried it?
l guess it's a drinking game (not real drinking- although, I guess, you could)? You're a party of adventurers chilling in a tavern and the goal is to be the last character not passed out? Or the last character not to lose all their gold? Something along those lines. Anyway, clearly I need this game.

I discovered this channel on Youtube this past week and ended up having this on in the background for 2 hours! It's a train drivers eye view from Norway and it's pretty awesome. Especially shortly after the 1:30 mark where she hits heavy snow!
Is it just me, or does Alpha remind you of Echo, if Echo had guns and wolves? HA I think the game would be much better if it was REAL drinking tbh ๐ I watched the Norway Train (not all of it, just bits and pieces to get the idea), but Idk dude it just seemed like... lonely and cold? But I am glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteShe kinda does, now that I look at her! And right? I feel like drinking while playing this game could devolve into serious hilarity. :)
DeleteIt's been a pretty mild winter for us so far, but I'm not going to breathe easy until it's over. Traditionally, March can be pretty bad for Maryland so we're not in the clear yet :P And wow, you've been busy with your reading this week! Looking forward to your thoughts on the new Kelley Armstrong! A good read to go with the snow, I guess :D
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
It's been mild here too, i really can't complain. Like, I've only had to shovel twice? No raging snowstorms to snowblow through *knocks on wood* But yes let's get through the rest of february and see where we're at. :)
DeleteI just started the new one today!!
I'm totally sick of the weather we've had. About half of every week from November until now has involved high winds and they make me nervous, so I've been in a bad mood for months! Two bad storms this week have not helped! Ugh, this has been my worst winter ever and my bad mood is stopping me reading!
ReplyDeleteHa you guys have been hit hard, from what I can tell. I've always wanted to visit scotland but your weather does sound kinda rough this winter. I hope Dennis wasn't too bad for you? Take care
DeleteWe have been so lucky with the temperatures here, because it rained A LOT. Had it been colder, we would have been buried in lots of snow. Hope the snow didn't cause too many problems for you. That train video is interesting. People are always filming the trains coming in and out of the station when I am there. I guess it's a thing
ReplyDeleteSee here it's been snow, but not that much really. And it hasn't been bad, really. I had no idea train videos were a thing! Now there's like train ambiences (love) and now pilot eye views, which I have to say I loved this one.
DeleteTotally laughing at the purpose of that game... the last one not passed out drunk. Ha! The train video was cool. But that was some serious snow!
ReplyDeleteRight? That could get crazy. :)
DeleteI'm mesmerized by the train video. It's so weird that the train can just move so easily even through the snow. Very cool. Have a great weekend, Greg!
ReplyDeleteI was too! I had it on in the background and watched the whole 2 hour thing!
DeleteUgh. I just know I am going to end up reading Good Girls Lie. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! You are corrupted... :):)
DeleteI heard something about 24 live train, or was it ship on a fjord, anyway more to watch from Norway ;)
ReplyDeleteOh the ship on a fjord would probably be a win too :)
DeleteWe just ended up with a lot of rain this week, no snow, although the last couple days have been really cold!
ReplyDeleteIt got cold here too. Like 10 yesterday! But then today sun and warm- go figure!
DeleteGreg honestly you have winter and we have storm Dennis and temperature worth of spring! Could you send some winter our way please?
ReplyDeleteRight? What is this madness? Hope Dennis wasn't too bad for you guys. Sending some winter your way!
DeleteI hope the snow didn't trouble you too much. I'm happy we haven't had any snow over here yet, so I'm hoping it will stay that way.
ReplyDeleteThe Red Dragon Inn sounds great! I'm going to check it out!
Have a wonderful week!
It wasn't bad actually. Hardly got any, surprisngly. Hope you stay snow free! And Red dragon Inn sounds fun!
DeleteHope the snow clears out and stays away! I want winter to be over but here in Missouri it has been known to snow on the first day of Spring! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reads!

Week in Review
Me too! Missouri sounds a lot like Michigan- anything can happen!
DeleteUgh, snow! Not a fan, but glad it wasn't too bad. I can't remember the last time I sat down and played a board game, but I so enjoy them. I would love to hear how that drinking game turns out if you get it. Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Greg!
I'm not either, although I have to admit we didn't get that much. And have a good week!
DeleteYou had snow twice? We hardly ever see snow where I live, so it sounds like a treat LOL.
ReplyDeleteKato's drawings are awesome!
I wouldn't mind seeing snow only rarely. :) But we haven't had that much so I can't complain too much. Although I do. :)
DeleteI love his work.
I got very waylaid by that lovely video of the train travelling through the snow. As my husband is a train driver, I found it especially compelling - though I'm very glad he doesn't have to cope with conditions like that! Though today is likely to be a complete nightmare because of the floods. Have a great week, Greg and enjoy the snow if you can.
ReplyDeleteI did too, I watched the whole thing (not straight thru, I had it on in the background, but when it gets really moving through that Norwegian countryside I got a little mesmerized). And yes I don't think I'd want to have those conditions either!
DeleteLove the train video! We've had snow twice this week too -- perfect time to stay inside and try out that new tavern drinking game :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I agree :)
DeleteThat's a lovely pulp cover! I don't read them, but I love the artwork.
ReplyDeleteMy mom was telling me about the snow. I hope y'all enjoy it. That's definitely one thing I don't miss about Michigan.
I love finding those pulp covers. I always get a good laugh :)
DeleteOoh you're from Michigan? You must be somewhere warmer then...
I don't play any games, that would be more my daughters thing. We didn't get any snow, it was actually in the 60's here all week.
ReplyDeleteOoh 60's sounds so balmy right now... :)
DeleteI've been eyeing Good Girls Lie. Enjoy your week and your books...and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteOh snow? We're having pretty nice weather here in California with temps in the 60s. Not much of a winter I guess.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed Alone in the Wild! :)
I envy your weather... :):)
DeleteGood Girls Lie looks so good. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou too Yvonne!
DeleteStunning images, illustrations! Love looking at them.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed in my area, too. I can't wait for Spring to get here.
ReplyDeleteOw snow... We haven't had any snow here yet unfortunately. I can't wait to be able to show our little girl snow. I just loooooove snow so much!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading.
I always love the images you share. Forest is my favorite this time!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I've got serious snow envy going on right now! All we're getting is rain and wind and storms and floods and misery. Snow is pretty and fun. :(
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time visiting your blog but it won't be my last! I love that you share such interesting stuff - art, games, ambient music... Can't wait to come back next week to see what you've found!
ReplyDeleteWell thank you! I hope you come back often- I always try to load up the Post with some interesting stuff. :) Appreciate your visiting!
DeleteI'm glad we came to this particular part of southern Spain this winter because we avoided the storm that hit further up the coast, avoided all the ghastly Brit weather, and haven't yet seen a single flake of snow. Sat out in the sun with a 0% beer this afternoon ;-)
ReplyDelete(Hopefully I've not now jinxed the rest of our trip!)
That train trip video is gorgeous!! I found myself just watching it for at least 15 min before I realized I was just zoned out. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHa I did too- I watched the whole thing the other night in between doing other stuff. The countryside whizzing by- something about the frontal view- I was hooked.
DeleteYou find the most interesting covers and pictures. Thank you for sharing and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThe cold temps returned here but thankfully no more snow. I'm so ready for it to warm up though. My son starts outdoor soccer practice in 3 weeks and I'm just like how? It's too cold!
ReplyDeleteWe had very heavy rains last week but also these big bursts of sun which helps me get through it all. Some of our plants are already budding too and that makes me super happy!
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's worth
That sounds like a fun game. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
OMG, I didn't know there were such videos about train driver's view. Someone commented no thrill, but I thought it was so scary, and my heart was getting insane!! I'm going to try others for the landscape.
ReplyDeleteAnd did you see the comment about Finse and Star Wars?
And thanks for sharing Oswaldo Kato's art, gorgeous!
I haven't ever got into gaming but I know if I did I'd get addicted and then I'd do less reading! Such a busy life being retired!!
ReplyDeleteI need a drinking game in my life, or maybe just more drinking? Haha! The move was super stressful, but it feels good to be BACK! I have Kelley Armstrong's Alone in the Wild, so I hope we both like it! <3
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ๐ฌ
One Dragon Inn sounds D&D related, I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
Such beautiful artwork! I'm always in awe of people who can create, I'm not very artsy myself but love visiting your Sunday posts to see what you've found.
ReplyDeleteI know winter is here all of a sudden, when we are ready for it to be over. Lol. It was like it took offense at the groundhog's prediction.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Sisters of the Vast Black sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love those Oswaldo Kato images. So surreal and dreamlike.
We need more rain. Winter never really arrived here. My weekly update
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for warm weather! Youtube videos can be so addictive. Have a great week Greg! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
Oh dear, it sounds like winter has won out. Hope you manage to stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you enjoyed Sisters of the Vast Black. I really want to give that one a try. I hope spring comes your way soon. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to get a dusting of snow tomorrow which will actually evaporate before it hits the ground (lol), which is really no snow at all. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteI love Rootbeard's House! ๐ณ
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ambient! ๐✨
I am comment vomiting backwards, so I know your weather got better! ๐
