This week is a Top Ten freebie and I decided to go with books featuring islands. Books set on islands or in which islands play a prominent role. Why islands? I really don't know! It just came to me so why not?
I loved this one and this is partially set on a deserted island.

LOL Islands are fun. I'd totally pick the new series from Melinda Leigh that has the awesome island covers.
ReplyDeleteOooh islands! Definitely a good choice. Every time you mention Obsidian and Stars, I want to read the thing, so that's rude hah. I *need* Echoes. I think I have been saying that for a long time, but one of these days! I have A Map For Wrecked Girls and Vitro, so again, one of these days! And I have heard some good things about Wreck, I might have to add that one to my list too. Great list!

ReplyDeleteI've heard so much about Echoes. Every time I see it featured on your blog, I'm that much curious to try it out. And now that I know it takes place on a deserted island...one of my favorite tropes!

ReplyDeleteHey, if islands is the idea that came to mind, you go with it! I often find it more difficult when there's a "freebie" Top 10 topic because the pressure is on to find an interesting topic. :D
ReplyDeleteI've looked at 'Wrecked for Girls' at the store before, but something always holds me back from buying a copy.
Aw I love this! Now I want to be somewhere warm and have my toes in the sand instead of looking at snow lol! I didn't realize that Obsidian and Stars had an island in the book, I really need to go pick up that series! :)

Letters from Skye sounds good. Echoes make my TTT this week too, although I wrote about books that deserve more love.

I would not have thought of a topic like this on my own, and I love it! Good job! Fear of Drowning Deep is a book I want to read. Seen some people who matter say it was great. Maybe I will hit it up one of these days for One Old, One New.

ReplyDeleteIslands are always a good setting for horror and thriller books! I've read a few I liked with dinosaurs, sharks and monsters! Nice theme and I might check out the blurb on a couple of these!

ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming of islands this time of year LOL so I can see why it you may have chosen it as as theme. :-) I remember reading On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves and how the island setting is almost like a character in the book.

ReplyDeleteOh man, Greg. I think I've only ever read TWO books which take place on Islands! O_o Anne of Green Gables and Island of the Blue Dolphins. I obviously have to expand my settings. Which of these books would you recommend I pick up first?

ReplyDeleteI'm loving your topic choice, islands are cool settings because it sort of keeps everything contained, which is something I love in books. Sanctuary Bay sounds awesome, as does Vitro! Vitro reminds me of this book called Dr. Franklin's Island that I read when I was a kid. Love this one, I'm going to have to check some of these out...
ReplyDelete"Why not?" is pretty much my reasoning for everything on my blog :-P Islands do have a unique kinda vibe in books because of how they usually make the characters more isolated. I've always loved the covers for Vitro and Ten!
