Top Ten SF Books (SciFi Month)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by
That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Bookish Items or Merch I'd Like To Have. Cool topic but for SciFi Month I decided to do a list of favorite science fiction books instead. So... these are some of my favorites. At the moment... I may change my favorites regularly, but for now here are some that I highly rec.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials, #1)

Contagion (Contagion, #1)

The Wolves of Winter

Dark Matter

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)

Obscura

Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2)

Replica (Replica, #1)

Record of a Spaceborn Few (Wayfarers, #3)

  1. Much as I like sci-fi in movies, for some reason I've never really gotten "into" it in books. Still, I might try Lauren Oliver's... someday. The concept seems really unique. :)

  5. I wouldn't even know how to pick a favorite when it comes to The Illuminae Files to be honest. Obsidio broke me so hard and I think it makes me unable to compare the books decently, hah. Maybe if I reread them one day, I'll be able to make up my mind. :)

  7. Nice! LOVED Gemina and Replica! Still need to read The Extinction Trials and Contagion! Waiting until next year to binge read Contagion with its sequel because I heard of its killer cliffhanger! Trying to save myself some sanity by waiting! Lol! Great picks!

  30. Thanks for all the recs! I feel like I haven't read much sci-fi which is a shame. Your note: murderbot! has me sooo interested in All Systems Red. I've seen your recommend or review Replica before and I know you like it a lot. I'll have to read it one of these days.

  31. Val still hasn't given me the 4th Murderbot. Clearly I know what I am doing after this. (Actually I didn't even wait, I just bugged her now hah.) Part of me wants to start A Closed and Common Orbit now but... I can't decide. Agreed about Wolves of Winter- such an unexpected gem and also I want a sequel. And I really need to read Dark Matter and Obscura! Great choices!

  34. I really enjiyed The Extinction Trials! I really need to read the rest of the series. 😊

  35. It's been a while since I read much SF, as witnessed by the fact that I haven't read a single book on this list. I do have the Becky Chambers books on my TBR list somewhere... and at least one on my Kindle. I recently finished listening to The Calculating Stars and The Fated Sky by Mary Robinette Kowal; they were wonderful and I highly recommend them. I think you would really like them. It's worth doing the audio, because Mary Robinette is a professional audiobook recorder as well as an author, and she reads them extremely well.

  36. I loved Gemina, too. A few of the other books on your list are on my TBR. I don’t read as much sci-fi as I used to.
