Top Ten Hidden Gems

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by
That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Hidden Gems- those books that are maybe flying under the radar, or haven't gotten the push they need. Or just aren't showing up a lot on lists. This is pretty subjective, of course, but that's the beauty of it. It should be fun to see everyone's picks this week. Here are mine.

Radio Silence

Captures the angst of finding yourself and starting university.

Lost Girls

A teenage fight club, lost memories? Hello!

A School for Unusual Girls (Stranje House, #1)

I really like this series and would like to see more visibility, especially for the two sequels.

The Blue

I've seen very few reviews!

The Cats of Tanglewood Forest (Newford, #18)

Beautiful artwork- and lots of cats.

Blackbird (Blackbird, #1)

This one caught some flak for using a second person POV but I didn't think it was that bad.

Emilie and the Hollow World (Emilie, #1)

This is a YA novel by Martha Wells, who is getting a lot of attention right now for her Murderbot novellas. This came out a few years earlier but I really enjoyed it.

The Wanderers

A YA shifter book and a duology - I never saw a lot of reviews for this.

What She Saw

A woman sees something she shouldn't, and has to go on the run in Paris. What's not to like? I didn't see a lot of reviews for this one either.

World of Water (Dev Harmer Mission, #2)

A temporary body and a 72 hour deadline, set on an amazing water world.

  1. Great list! I keep seeing Radio Silence lately and I think that's the universe's way of telling me I need to order myself a copy. :)

  13. I think there is a sequel to the Hollow World book. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the publisher closed up shop. Those Tanglewood cats, ha ha, I have to see if Hoopla has it. 📚

  25. I feel like people talk about Radio Silence a lot, but that's probably just a blogger thing and more IRL people need to read it. I still need to read it too, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it so hopefully soon. Thanks for the other book recs!

  28. The only book I have heard from this list is Radio Silence, so this just acted as a reminder for me to actually pick it up and read it very soon! What She Saw also sounds super interesting, so I might have to add it to my TBR as well :)

    1. Radio Silence may not have been as underrated or a hidden gem as I thought, as lots of people seem familiar w/ it, although somebody made the point that bloggers might be aware of it, but the general public? And that got me thinking :)

I think A School for Unusual Girls could use some more visibility as well, and I'm surprised it has flown under the radar for so long. So many of these sound so good, though, especially Radio Silence, The Hollow World, The Blue... I might as well just write down all of these. Great list!

  35. What? No Shark Club? However, you did add some here that I definitely want to check out. Great list Greg!

  38. Although I've heard of a few of these authors, I haven't read any of these books - so I guess they really do need more recognition! Also, I tagged you in a book tag I did today if you would like to do it (but no pressure!)

I REALLY want to read Radio Silence too- I have heard incredible things. One of these days! Great choices!

  52. The Blue has been on my TBR since you first mentioned it though of course I've yet to actually read it! I want to read The School for Unusual Girls this year but I've been surprised how difficult it's been to find a copy. I'm going to buy it off Amazon but I was surprised that neither my library or Audible has it. Definitely needs more exposure!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Most of these are new to me, but I know I have Radio Silence on my TBR, probably added it after reading your review. :)

  54. The Cats of Tanglewood Forest looks adorable. I think my daughter might have it---I'll have to check out her shelves.

  59. Love your list! ❤️ Many of these are under the radar. I think the best place to start is at the top. My nephew would The Cats of Tanglewood Forest. He loves the idea of being an animal! 😼
