This week is top ten books to read by the pool or at the beach, so I wanted to pick stuff that involved water in some way, and preferably a summertime or island type vibe. There was lots to choose from so this was a fun topic!
Fun, no two ways about it!
You probably knew this was coming, but this thriller is a beach read if I ever knew one.
Set on a tropical island, with human experiments... what's not to love?
Yup... the sea!

You know this is gonna be trouble...
Set in sunny Florida with a few other stops, this would be an outstanding beach read.
Aruba!
Not strictly a beach read, but set in Napa wine country. See where I'm going with this?

I'm still very curious about Fear the Drowning Deep. I read the author's recent release and really liked it so hopefully that one will be for me as well.

DeleteNice books with water on the cover to read near water. I love it! Dangerous Girls is just such a great book, and I love seeing it on people's lists. Fear of Drowning Deep and Shark Club are two I hope to read at some point, and Summer Days is such an obvious choice for me too.

DeleteGreat list! I never read Summer Days and Summer Nights. I have the winter version and actually have several autographs in it from the various authors. I should check to see if my library has it. Have a great week.

DeleteI like what you did with the theme, Greg. Love that cover for The Girl from the Sea. I keep going back and forth on picking up Summer Days and Summer Nights. I read the winter/Christmas version and while there were some stories I really enjoyed there were also several that really fell flat for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love that cover too (it may be why I bought it, but I'm not telling). Summer Days was the same for me- some outstanding stories and some duds, but overall I was glad I read it.

Dangerous Girls was quite good. And Summer Days is nice because you can read a short story or two around the pool or at the beach... then go get a drink! :):)

DeleteDangerous Girls is still one of my absolute favorite YA reads, it was so much darn fun and I loved all the twists.

DeleteGreat list! I wasn't a big fan of Summer Days and Summer Nights so I hope you enjoy it a lot more than I did - I did really enjoy Leigh Bardugo's story, though. The cover of Vitro is giving me The Island vibes, which always seems to be a film that I end up watching in the summer...

DeleteI've been meaning to read A Map for Wrecked Girls for awhile now! It sounds like a fascinating story, and I've only seen positive reviews for it. Eight Hundred Grapes has been on my list ever since you reviewed it. <3 A few of these are new to me, but I'll be adding them to my TBR!

ReplyDeleteThough I'll be very honest, I would be the type to read Vitro as well. I wouldn't do any of the things from there like human experiments, but fictional is fair game indeed. 😈
