This week is Top Ten Books That Awaken the Travel Bug In Me. Books that are set in other countries or exotic locations are always my jam, so this is a fun topic. I could go with fantasy locations but I think I'll stick with the real world for this one.
I didn't love this book but I did like that it was set on a tropical island- being stranded on an island is always a trope I can get behind.
Set in the Philippines and New Zealand, as well as various points in the south Pacific.

DeleteBig Little Lies did a nice job helping us "see" Australia, and Love & Gelato was great trip to Italy, as well.

DeleteI've seen Love and Gelato on a few lists today, and now I can't wait to pick up a copy. I was already interested because of the gorgeous cover, but it's obviously wormed its way into lots of reader's hearts!

Deleteoh some great books there. I love the setting in map for wrecked girls. That book makes me more scared to travel though. lol. I don't want to be shipwrecked... well if I have enough snacks, coffee, and books... maybe.

DeleteWow, the Isle of Skye is definitely a unique setting. And Paris... I actually haven’t read too many books set there but I’ve loved the ones that have. That’s definitely a bucket list location!

DeleteGreat list! Dangerous Girls is a great one and definitely made me want to go to Aruba. And of course BLL always makes me want to go back to Australia.

DeleteI loved the setting of Wolves of Winter. Such a good book - more people should read it. So glad to see The Shark Club make another list. Maybe I'll break down and read it soon.

ReplyDeleteYES! City of the Lost has really made me want to visit Northern Canada (the Yukon, specifically). It's strange to think how few Canadians visit there, but it's pretty remote and, you know, rugged. So I think a lot of people are scared off. Not me though! ^ Deleted my first comment because I accidentally commented with the wrong account. Whoops! 😂
City of the Lost and The Wolves of Winter was another one- in spite of the isolated, rugged nature it kinda makes me want to visit the Yukon/ northern Canada- beautiful area!

I have only read one of these, City of the Lost. Not sure that I would want to visit their little town though. Maybe I could stop in just to play with Storm for a bit :)

ReplyDeleteLove these! Especially the island ones, and Australia! OH and the one set all over the South Pacific? Much yes. I didn't know part of Shark Club was in Mozambique either, talk about a location you don't see a lot of in books, I really need to read it. Though you know, I didn't really feel the desolate Yukon while reading The Wolves of Winter? Scary and cold and... pass.

ReplyDeleteFantastic list! Which is not at all shocking since your lists for TTT are always top notch. I'm bummed that you didn't like A Map for Wrecked Girls too much. That cover is so striking! Anyways, I need to read Love and Gelato ASAP. And Dangerous Girls and Big Little Lies are two of my all-time favourite books. Swoon!

ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to armchair travel, and books that make me want to travel, I tend to love books set in colder climates - Alaska has a big one for me during the winter season.
ReplyDeleteBig Little Lies made me want to go to Australia in some ways but in others ways it was just way too close to home! I love a desert island book too and to funny about TinTin. Your reviews definitely made the setting sound appealing!

ReplyDeleteI've looked at 'Map' A LOT, but haven't picked it up. I think because of its cover design - stark with a bright overlay, I've been curious. But thus far, I've not picked it up. Perhaps at some point I will. Or maybe not. :D
