This week is Top Ten Books I loved but will never re- read.
I liked this a lot but can't see re- reading it, it's just one of those books that left a good impression but I don't want to revisit.
I'm glad I read this but I wouldn't read it again. As much as I love the concept I found it kinda boring??
Loved it but probs not going to read it again.
I enjoyed it but never did finish book three. And there's always the movie if I want to re- experience it.

I love the history and lore of Middle-earth but this one is dense, y'all. I think once is enough, and I still have the Appendices and Unfinished Tales if I need more.

I don't think I'd reread Divergent either. Although I didn't hate Allegiant I wasn't overly satisfied with the ending.

DeleteI've never really felt the urge to read all the Middle Earth history in all these other books. I was interested enough in LOTR but my dad warned me how dense and hard going these were so I avoided them!

DeleteI feel like everyone hates Divergent these days because of how book 3 ended. I find I still enjoy the series! It was pretty awesome and it had an ending I never expected. Divergent works well as a standalone almost though! You can just pretend they're headed for a better future and leave it at that! Lol!

I actually like Divergent (book and movie) but I totally get what you mean- Allegiant seems to give a bad rap. I should read the ending someday lol. But I agree- if I did re- read it would maybe just be the first book, and let my imagination go from there?

DeleteI still want to read 20 000 Leagues under the Sea but I think I might have an unabridged version haha, which is probably where the boring comes in.

DeleteI liked the Glow books okay, too, but I haven't read the third one. I do plan to though. I plan a Hobbit and LotR re-read starting this year. Will I ever re-read it again? Who knows. Nice list!

DeleteYou know, I read Divergent but never read the rest of the series. So I have tried to reread it to refresh my memory so I can read the rest, but I just can't seem to get interested once I start it.

DeleteI have never read Jurassic Park but I love the movie. The Divergent movies aren't very good. They don't follow the books very well but I think the first book and movie are the most similar. Great list.
ReplyDeleteI took a long time to read the book of Jurassic Park and it was actually quite good. I agree- I liked the first book and movie of Divergent, and the second was okay- that third movie tho was horrible!
DeleteThe only one I've read is Divergent and while I liked it at the time, I'm not so sure now. I think the movies ruined it for me. I love the Jurassic Park movies but not sure about reading the book. Great list!

DeleteI seldom re-read anymore, I think I just don't have the time and have so many books in my TBR pile that I can't justify doing it. Kind of sad in a way but not at the same time. And don't even get me started on how many series and trilogies I've never finished even though I loved books one and two LOL!

DeleteI would totally reread Jurassic Park if I had time, although it might be hard having seen the movie so many times. But I remember tons of cools details in the book that didn't make it to the movie😊

I never read the Divergent series and don't think I ever will. Someone ruined the end for me.
ReplyDeleteI am not a big re-reader, so many books in this world I just can't see myself re-reading a book just because. Jurassic Park I never read but I did love the movie! :)
I often read the first book in a series and stop because I like it and don't want the sequels to wreck it. I understand about Divergent. Plus once the movie comes out what is the point? My TTT
ReplyDeleteI’m with you on Divergent. I enjoyed it at the time but I know I’ll never reread it. I actually read the whole trilogy... and kind of wish Roth had stopped after book two. Or even book one. LOL
ReplyDeleteI could never finish book one of Lord of the Rings and I heard The Silmarillion is a waaaay heavier read so when it comes to Tolkien I stay with The Hobbit. I've read that one many times and I don't give a fig the reason why it's more readable is because it was written for children XD

The Silmarillion IS way heavier, almost too much. I love the lore but that book... and the Hobbit is amazing kids book or not!

ReplyDeleteI did re-read Divergent but that was before the final book came out. Having read that, it unfortunately ruined the series a bit for me so I probably will never re-read again.
ReplyDeleteI read Divergent years ago when it first became popular but never picked it up since. The series took a bad turn by the time the third book rolled around and I was never quite satisfied with the ending. That, combined with the movies which completely butchered the books, have kinda turned me off of the series.

Much as I did enjoy the films, I don't see myself ever reading the Divergent books. I like the stories in the films, so that's good enough for me. :)

ReplyDeleteI definitely agree on The Silmarillion. It's one of those that I'd theoretically like to re-read, but it probably won't ever happen. There are plenty of other Tolkien works to read also, haha. I also feel the same about 20,000 Leagues--super glad I read it, but not going to pick it up again.

DeleteI feel that way about a lot of Crichton's books. I've read and enjoyed all of them...but I don't know that I'd revisit any? Maybe a couple of the old classics if I'm traveling/on vacation because they're reliably entertaining, but not for any reason more than that.

DeleteMad props for making it through The Silmarillion! I've attempted it oh, only a mere EIGHT TIMES and never once even made it halfway through! I've grown up enough that I think I'm just going to admit defeat at this point haha!

DeleteGood point about Divergent. I enjoyed that (and loved Four) but I'm not going near that series again unless I wind up watching the movies on Freeform or something. I need to reread Jurassic Park, though. :)

DeleteBut do you really want to rewatch the Divergent movies? Haha- now THAT would be a good "Movies That Suck" contestant. I honestly don't think I'd read basically any books over again (except The Hunger Games, of course) because I am mostly afraid I wouldn't like them as much the second time around? So I just like to leave my memories of them unscathed hah.

DeleteI tried to read JURASSIC PARK so hard in 5th grade, but I could never get past the first 100 pages. It was a lot of science and not action and I couldn't follow it at that age-- even though I gave it at least 3 decent tries. So, I'll probably just leave it on my list of fails and enjoy watching the dinosaurs on TV.

DeleteMost of the books that I loved but don't want to reread tend to be long. I wouldn't mind rereading Jurassic Park at some point though, but then Crichton books are always a joy no matter what.

I've actually never read Jurassic Park *hides face*. My brother harasses me from time to time but I'm not sure if I'll ever pick it up. It's not exactly my thing even though I loved the movie. Fabulous list!

I don't think I even realized that Jurassic Park was a book until well after the movie came out! I can relate to not wanting to reread certain books because of the denseness. I think that's how I feel about Woman in White. It was wonderful but so dense!
