Top Ten New To Me Authors I Read in 2017

  

 Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Authors I Tried in 2017. This will be a fun list because I tried a lot of new authors in '17 so I shouldn't have too much trouble with this one. Here we go!

  1. Yay for Courtney Summers. This Is Not a Test was so good. McManus was new to me too. I reeeeaaally want to finally read one of Abigail Haas's book. Hope you discover many more awesome new authors in 2018, Greg!

  3. Great list. I haven't read many of the books on this week's list but I know of a few of the authors you have included. I adored Queens of Geek as well and never got around to MacManus 's debut. I need to rectify that ASAP

  6. I've heard a lot of great things about Marie Lu. I also heard that One of Us Is Lying is going to be made into a movie or TV show this year. That'll be interesting!

  10. Yay for new to you authors :) I've only read a couple of these; Patricia Briggs - I love Moon Called, and Abigail Haas - unfortunately I hated Dangerous Girls, everyone I know that's read it gave it 5 stars though haha

  17. I want to read the Three Dark Crowns series so bad. I am determined to fit it in this year. I also want to read Warcross. It looks so good!

  18. John Scalzi is one that I still really need to check out! I seem to love everything he writes for the LA Times and on Twitter, but I've yet to pick up one of his book. Maybe I'll rectify that this year. It looks like you made some awesome author discoveries this year. I also read Amanda Hocking for the first time. Dead Girls Society and One of Us Is Lying are both ones that I would like to read still. Nice list!

  29. This Is Not a Test is one of my favorite zombie novels. It's so underrated. I need to get to Warcross sometime this year. Happy 2018!

  30. I'm not surprised to see The Shark Club here. I know how much you love that one. I really need to pull The Wanderers out as I am super curious about it after seeing it so much on your blog. Hope you're having a great New Year and that you're staying warm!

  31. Marie Lu is tops for me. Legend is an all time favorite series of mine. I read a Gillian French book, it was pretty good, but I feel like Grit is the book to read. Courtney Summers is someone I want to check out. I have to put her on my short list this year.

  32. I've read Warcross and One Of Us Is Lying. I really enjoyed both. I really loved Marie Lu's The Young Elites Series. If you haven't checked it out, you should!

  34. I haven't read most of these though I really want to read Marie Lu and I've heard all kinds of good things about John Scalzi. The Shark Club is on my TBR which I'm thinking is probably your doing. Great list!

  35. Oh, I really need to read a lot of these. Marie Lu in particular. I haven't tried any of hers yet. I did just finish Lost Girls last night, but it wasn't for me. :x

    1. Sorry you didn't like Lost Girls! I loved it maybe for the fight club aspects, and how badass she was? But it wasn't a perfect book that's for sure and I could see why someone wouldn't like it. And I tried Marie Lu just this year and Warcross was fab! :)

  39. I've been wanting to read This Is Not a Test for years and I hope I'll finally be able to read it this year. And I got a copy of Warcross last month so hopefully I can read that one very soon :)

Ooh, so glad you discovered Courtney Summers, Marie Lu (LOVED her Legend series so much), Kendare Blake (Anna Dressed in Blood was amazing, but I've loved her other books too), Melissa Landers and Abigail Haas (I also loved Dangerous Girls!!) this year! Here's to more awesome authors in 2018. <3

  41. Wow, this is a great list! I don't think I actually read many new authors this year- at least, not many that weren't debuts. I do want to read a lot of these books though, even though the authors wouldn't be new to me- like This is Not a Test and Warcross! I also read Gillian French, Karen McManus, and Mur Lafferty for the first time this year! You know, come to think of it, I don't think I have read anything by Melissa Landers- I probably should, I have the first book!

    1. Thanks! I seemed to read a TON of new authors this year- I don't know what it was! This Is Not A Test is SO good. And I enjoyed the stuff I read from Gillian French and KAren McManus especially. Heck all of them really!

  46. Such an awesome list! I read Starflight by Melissa Landers and it was AMAZING! I was't a fan of Starfall, though.

    Also, glad you discovered Marie Lu! Her Legend series is really good!

  49. I just got Marie Lu's WARCROSS but I read her other series and enjoyed it. John Scalzi has been one of my favorite authors forever! I actually ran into him at O'Hare in late 2016. He was super nice.

  50. Courtney Summers is criminally underrated! I'm so glad you liked her stuff. John Scalzi and Patricia Briggs are two of my long-time faves, but Melissa Landers was a new-to-me 2017 discovery too. I actually think your review of Starflight is what convinced me to pick it up!

  53. I read a lot of new authors in 2017 too, among them Warcross by Marie Lu which made it to my Best Reads list and wondered why I hadn't read her before??
