Cover Characteristics Christie Covers

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Christie

Rogue topic- this week I'm looking at favorite Christie covers. I've never read a Christie, although I started one- must not have been the one for me- but would like to reacquaint myself. But for now I'm sharing my favorite covers I've come across- it will be obvious that I like a certain type of retro style I suppose.

  3. I love these new(ish) Christie cover designs! I think the artwork fits the whole early-twentieth-century aesthetic really well. I would love to collect these.

    1. I do too. they have that retro feel without looking like 80 year old cover designs, you know?

  8. I've never read anything by the author as I'm not a fan of crime novels but I do like the style of this set of book covers. I especially like the Caribbean cover!

  11. Oh wow, these are fabulous. This post actually made me to run to my bookshelves to see if any of my Christie covers are as cool as these, but alas no. More generic mass market paperback style. I haven't read too many of them yet, but I did really enjoy And Then There Were None.

  12. We have a ton of Christie's books in my home, as she is one of my mom's faves. I have never read one, but I think it's because i have seen many films based on Agatha Christie's work.

  13. I LOVE the Caribbean Mystery one! That feels like it could be a poster, you know? Problem at Pollensa Bay, too. Murder on the Orient Express looks appropriately ominous too! I like the retro look too, especially for older books, because they look appropriately old without looking... just like old book covers, I guess!

    1. I love that one too! Exactly. Pollensa Bay is one of my faves, especially one with the lighthouse and gulls. And I feel the same- they have the retro look without looking like 80 yr old editions.

  14. I love these! Any of these would make beautiful posters that I would not hesitate to put up on my wall. Ironically, as Christie's books are often full of murder and crime, some of these actually look very cheerful and summery.

    1. There are a few I would LOVE to have on my wall. And I know some of those are quite summery! That Pollensa Bay cover (2nd) would be a great pic, and the Christmas one too.

  15. I love Agatha Christie novels, but I'm never quite sure which covers I like the best. I love how stylish these look- and I'd love to have them as vintage posters in my room!

  16. Seriously LOVE this. I really want to make a poster of all vintage covers. The images after the covers are stunning also! Great post! You made it so pretty!!!

  17. You should read Christie! My favorite ones by her are Miss Marple novels and I guess 'And Then There Were None' has its own charm too. Beautiful covers! Though Evil Under the Sun is a little bit creepy. I mean imagine her staring at you from your bookshelf...

    1. I really should! I tried her Halloween one and it didn't really work for me, but I'm going try again. There are so many that sound good! And you have a good point about Evil Under the Sun... :)

  18. Love them! I need to read them at some point. My mom and grandparents LOVE these so I grew up seeing them about. One day I'll dive in, too :) Hope you like them your second go round.

  19. I love the old time covers, so much fun. I have never read one of her books, I really should so I at least can say that I have. ;)

  20. I really like these covers. Don't think I've ever read one though, If I have it wasn't memorable

  21. I adore all these covers! Agatha Christie books have had really fun covers over the years but I think these kind of art deco-y ones are my favorite. She isn't for everyone and I do think you have to be in the right mood for her. If you try again I suggest Death on the Nile, Appointment with Death, or Murder in Mesopotamia. I think you'd like the settings and they're not quite dry as some of hers can be.

    1. There are so many! I could have used 100 although this art deco style really drew me in. I had to delete some, I had more!

Death on the Nile really appeals to me, just the idea of it, so that's probably the next one I'll try.
