It rained this week and then it got nice(r) but I still need it to get into the 70's. Still we had lots of sun for the tail end of the week, so it's all good.
I reviewed Missing and I Found You this past week. Both were very good. I've been lucky as I've mentioned that most of my reads have been good so far- 2017 is a good reading year for me. I know I'm going to burn out on the psychological thrillers though at some point, and probably soon- I'm already itching for more fantasy/ SF stuff.
On Netflix I watched Glitch which is an Australian show about people coming back to life. Very similar to the good (and eerie) French show The Returned, but this one was mixed- started out strong but the characters irked me a bit (except for one or two). I like these British and Australian shows though because the seasons are a lot shorter, so they don't drag 'em out.
This week I'll be reviewing Gone Without A Trace and Blood Tide.

Here's a trailer for Glitch
Oh and this looks ridiculous
Hmm, I wonder about the glitch
ReplyDeletePretty good show!
DeleteThe Defenders looks AMAZING. And Sigourney Weaver!!
ReplyDeleteCan't WAIT for Defenders!!
DeleteWow I love the image of the girl standing on the rooftop at night, it's so atmospheric. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead and I hope you get to read some fantasy soon!
Amy @ A Magical World Of Words
I like that one too!!
DeleteBlood Tide is exactly the kind of cover that I like with water involved.
ReplyDeleteI like it too, to be honest the cover is what sold me on the book. :)
DeleteWe have had rain the past two days and I am over it!! IT doesn't look great for next week either. I really enjoyed I Found You which made me happy since I didn' love her last book. I love that last picture. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteIt rained early in the week but the last few days have been sunny, but still not nice enough. We can't seem to get into the 70's!
DeleteThe Defenders look so cool!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for The Defenders!
DeleteOoh want to see if I can get Glitch in the US!
ReplyDeleteNetflix has it...
Delete47 metres down gives me the heeby geebys but could be because I can't swim!! It's beautiful and hot here in Scotland which is can't often say! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHey you got some nice weather! And yeah 47 Meters looks so silly. :)
DeleteI saw The Defenders trailer. I guess that means I need to catch up on all the different shows.
ReplyDeleteThe Glitch sounds a bit like The Returned which I loved! The French version not the US remake.
For What It's Worth
I loved The Returned! So creepy and moody...
DeleteLooks like you'll have a few intriguing mystery/thriller reviews coming up!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I know, I'm afraid I'll burn out on thrillers at some point!
DeleteI really hope it warms up soon. It was so cold today! I had to dig out my sweaters.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Lisa Jewell's books yet but I have one of her other ones on my TBR pile.
I need to get caught up on Riverdale. It is an interesting show though I don't like it as much as the other CW shows I watch.
Hope you have a great week!
It's cold here too. Sunny but cold. I liked Girls in the Garden by her more, but this one was good.
DeleteRiverdale had a pretty big episode the other night and the finale is this week? I thin it hits Netflix right after the finale airs so if you want to catch it there...
I am laughing SO HARD at 47 Meters Down right now. Like, dying. Because HOW can you make an entire movie about "aw crap, a shark might bite those girls"? You can't. Not a good one, anyway. I mean, they must have girly-screamed about 83 times during that trailer alone. I can't.
ReplyDeleteBut I AM curious about Glitch- even more than before! I want to live in Fox Town, it looks pretty! The Abandoned one reminds me of the atmosphere of a book I read, so I like that! Same with Cave of Goblins- there is this whole rope bridge thing and that is how I pictured it!
I hope it warms up soon- I am kind of over the rain at the cold at the moment too. (There was no such end of the week sun here, womp womp hahah)
I know, right? Ridiculous. And Glitch is one of those shows, imperfect as it was, where I want the second season RIGHT now and have to wait a long time... sigh. Fox Town looks awesome to me, and those other two really jumped out at me! I loved all the torches and the rope bridge... !
DeleteGreat pics, Greg. And you scared the ##!! out of me with that shark clip. Now I have to see it. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
You are making me want to go back and give Riverdale another try! Gitch sounds interesting. And I love the look of Gone Without a Trace.
ReplyDeleteI tried and failed with Glitch, like you I wasn't a fan of the character. I want to read I Found You, looks good.
ReplyDeleteWe went to see Guardians of the Galaxy this week and I actually thought of you! LOL!!! Our roles are a bit reversed at the moment! I read sci-fi at the moment and not enough psych thrillers. Have a look at my latest review - I think you might like the book: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2017/05/why-you-were-taken-by-jt-lawrence.html
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Greg!
Sounds like you had a pretty good week. After a lot of rain we are finally getting some decent days but the nights are still pretty chilly.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I like the shorter series but then some times I am like aaah that is it...lol.
Have a great week! My favorite show Longmire has short seasons and I am always bummed when it's over.

Week in Review
Glad to hear you've had an amazing year, Greg. If only could be as lucky as you have been. My reading this year so far has been up and down. I'm trying to be more picky though by only read the books that have been recommended by my fellow bloggers (friends).
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures, too. They are so gorgeous.
Have a wonderful week and Happy reading, Greg. :)
It sounds like you had a good week and a good reading year so far! I've read a lot of good books this year too. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to need to find The Returned once I finish Orphan Black.
ReplyDeleteThe Returned is super creepy (the french version- I've heard the American remake sucks) and not gory at all, it's like people come back from the dead but they can talk and carry on, they're not just zombies. But it has a super creepy atmosphere.
DeleteSun is always nice! Ironically, we need rain here! Missing looks really interesting. I haven't watched The Return but I may be checking that one out! Gorgeous art, as always! Have a great week :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
The Returned is awesome and super creepy but make you sure you watch the French version- I've heard the american remake is crappy. Netflix has both...
DeleteYou always find the most eye-catching images! Each week I am showing them to my husband and he loves them! Then we end up down the rabbit hole of the sites they link to....And then before we know it, its Monday!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
The Book Disciple
That's awesome, glad you both enjoy them! I spend WAY too much time on those art sites...
DeleteGlitch sounds like one I might get hooked on, and then find myself annoyed with everything by the end. LOL.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the themes are different, it reminds me a little of The Leftovers, a show based on Tom Perrotta's book, which went way off track on screen. I liked it at first, but then stopped watching.
Great images, as usual.
I also loved I Found You. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
I am glad you got some sunshine at least! We're expecting more rain today. If I had my way, I'd stay in my PJ's all day and just veg. I do have to venture out though at some point.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are having a good reading year! I think my next read will be fantasy or sci-fi too. I'm thinking of picking up a second book to read along side my current read. I think I need something a little faster to balance out the slower one.
I've come to prefer the shorter seasons too. Watching American shows now, I feel like they go on too long. Haha
I hope you have a great week, Greg!
Oh, I love pulp covers! I am always tempted to get those books when I see them in used bookstores.
ReplyDeleteMy thriller mystery reading review pile is pretty high too. I am mixing in YA in between.
Happy reading.
I'm dying to read Missing. I love everything I've ever read by Armstrong and am looking forward to the conclusion of the Cainsville series later this year - although it will be quite sad. Love the little red paw print (fox print maybe) on the first pic you showed.
ReplyDeleteYou have me curious about Glitch. I am loving all the images, and want to check out your reviews I have two of the books in my tbr pile. Hope this week brings warm weather and lots of sunshine.
ReplyDeleteThe deep sea music is pretty nice and soothing :) have a great week, Greg!
ReplyDeleteGlad that 2017 is starting off pretty good for you in terms of reading!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I loved The Defenders trailer, I need to binge Iron Fist though!
ReplyDeleteGlitch looks good. I still have to get either Netflix ir Hulu and start watching some shows. Seems funny when I think back to when I would get angry when the cable went out and I couldn't watch tv. Ha! Thanks, as usual, for the artwork. Have a fabulous week.:)
ReplyDeleteStill have to pick up a copy of Missing. I've stalled on the blog again this week but at least I was there for three days. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading, Greg!
Sometimes British series are not long enough. Especially shows like The Mighty Boosh.
ReplyDeleteFox Town looks like it could be a town in Final Fantasy.
Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen
I have had a few where I wish they had gone longer! Marcella was one i really liked...
DeleteBoo cold weather, but I'm glad you've been having such a great reading year! I feel like mine has been pretty rocky. That Glitch show sounds interesting. Anyway, maybe you'll finally get some nice warm weather this week!
ReplyDeleteGlitch was pretty good. And so is the Returned, a French show about the same thing, if you ever get a chance. I hope your reading year gets a little better... :)
DeleteA bunch of your books are on my wishlist. It was another busy week but I did manage to finish some books. Come see what I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteYay, you look like you've been busy! And you've got some nice books over on your post too. :)
DeleteI've had the opposite weather this week. Hot during the week and rainy and cold this weekend. We even had thunder and lightening today. Def not the usual weather for Southern California! I'll have to check out your review for The Missing. I love Kelley Armstrong. I only wish there was an audio copy available for it and The Masked Truth. Beautiful photos! I think I like the ghosty girl on the roof the best. :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been so wacky. And Missing was pretty good. I think I'm really liking KA as an author and will continue reading her. I LOVE the City of the Lost books too!
DeleteI tend to really like British shows! :) I need to see what's all on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the British stuff. MArcella was one I liked a lot...
DeleteIt's funny how we can dine out on a genre and then we need to change it up. If I am going to read a thriller usually I prefer the psychological kind so that's why I liked I Found You.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the girl in the balcony with all the small birds..It's so calming :) And thanks for sharing the trailers..I'm intrigued with both now!! :)
ReplyDeletethought i should clear it up that intrigued with one in a good way and the other (47 meters down) in a funny way..Like how are they going to do that??
DeleteYAY, I'm glad 2017 has been treating you well, in terms of reading! I've had a so-so year so far, some good some bad and many "meh" ones. I am curious about Missing - Armstrong's books have been pretty good for me. :D Happy reading, Greg!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Great to hear you are enjoying some of our Aussie shows. I am yet to watch Glitch but will look into it now.
ReplyDeleteI love psychological thrillers and like you tend to read them in a row. Then I feel the urge to swap back to a genre I am most comfortable with - yours I see is Sci fi/Fantasy. Mine would be Australian rural fiction or something light like romance.
I hope it continues to shine your way weather wise rather than rain!
Have a great week!
I've seen the trailer of the Glitch, wondering if I should try :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled that Jessica Jones is coming back in The Defenders! I hadn't heard about that yet. Also, love the song choice!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes I Can't WAIT for Jessica and the other Defenders.
DeleteI'm excited to read you review of I Found You. (Will be doing that next.) And that Cave of Goblins pic is so great. I'm actually reading Wintersong right now which features The Goblin King so that was quite timely. :)
ReplyDeleteWe've had some weird weather this week, but back to normal now, sunny and in the 80s. YEAH!
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
It rained A LOT lately here too and while it was nice yesterday and it's supposed to be nice today, it's calling for tons more rain for the rest of the week...and stuff's already starting to flood around here o.O Anyway, glad it's warmed out there and here too nonetheless, it's encouraging :)
ReplyDeleteI had NOT seen the trailer for The Defenders but OMG I can't wait for it now :D It's going to be amazing. I guess I need to watch Iron Fist though cause that's the only series I haven't gotten into out of the four. Have you seen it?
As always, I adore the fantasy art you share ♥ Have a great week Greg! xx
Dude, does the defenders look AWESOME or what? I can't WAIT to see Jessica talking smack with those guys. I did see Iron Fist, and honestly I was a little disappointed. I reviewed it but TL;DR is- kinda lame. that's just me though, you might like it!
DeleteI'm sick of rain! And thanks, glad you liked!!
I do try to vary the genres that I read to try to keep from burning out on any one. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Glitch is for me but that 47 Meters is hysterical! Gee I was so surprised that something went wrong with their cage dive. LOL
ReplyDeleteGlitch was different. I like shows like that that are more psychological though rather than just raving undead stuff. And yes- shocker that something went wrong!!! *smirk*
DeleteIt's 7 degrees celsius here and I'm so sad about it, hahaha. I just want the weather to reflect the fact that it's MAY, for crying out loud! Almost all the European and Australian shows on Netflix (and the Scandinavian ones too, now that I think of it) are top quality. I just finished watching The Bletchley Circle and it was soooo good! Not SF/F but a feminist historical mystery show, so definitely up my alley. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's cold. But you know it's been like that here too- especially in the mornings. It's been like in the 30's (let's see that's around 0 for you guys- us stupid Americans :)). And yes most of the European/ Canadian/ Australian shows I've watched have been amazing. The Returned (French) was fREAKY and the brit shows... yeah.
DeleteI've seen the Bletchley Circle on Netflix...
I don't know that I've actually watched an Australian TV show before - well, except for Masterchef Australia, of course. I don't know if we get Glitch here - alas and alack, Canadian Netflix is nowhere near as expansive as US Netflix! :'(
ReplyDeleteI've heard that. I think it would be frustrating to have a limited selection. Come on Netflix, share the love! And I've liked the Aussie shows I've seen...
DeleteThanks for droppin' by today, Greg. Didn't have a book post this week b/c didn't get much reading done and I've finally got my arse going on sewing. Makin' the husband a Rogue One Christmas stocking. I think we're done with rain here. We had 80+° days and bad allergies. Cooler today, low 70's and tomorrow will be the hottest at around 80 maybe. I miss Chinese food as it's the best in SF. In the burbs there isn't much and nothing much compares. We usually go Korean or sushi.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Always nice to stop by your place. :) And your Chinese food mention made me hungry. :) It's the same here- the burbs are not the best, but there are a few places in the city that do it right.
DeleteI'm a little burned out with psychological thrillers, too, and my fallback seems to be nonfiction this time. Glad you're warming up there... we got home to cold rain and snow! Crazy for May.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. I feel bad for you guys, it's tough to come back to cool and snow.
DeleteI need to catch up on all of the Marvel shows on Netflix. I love the Marvel movies but have been such a slacker when it comes to the TV series, LOL.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear 2017 is treating you well so far with reading material - I hope that continues! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI agree, we need the 70s to come and stay! I am so happy for the sunshine though and don't want to complain too much. I like the Stranded picture and want to go there! LOL We did enjoy our first Pronto Pup of the season yesterday!
ReplyDeleteYup I know what you mean I'm kinda burned out on fantasy/sci, thrillers, and contemporary so not sure what way to go now Lol it may be more of a slump. :(
ReplyDeleteGlitch sounds interesting! And so does the French version. Is that available easily to watch?
ReplyDeleteGone Without a Trace looks good!
Hope your week has been great!
I'm glad 2017 has been such a good reading year for you. Thinking about it it has been an excellent one for me as well although a lot slower than I would normally like. I think I just need to get my head around the fact that I'm not reaching my goal this year and be done with it.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be back and catching up. :)
