Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.
This week's topic is all about the visuals. Top Ten graphic novels or comics or even picture books- whatever works. These are a mix of stuff I've enjoyed and some that I need to get to yet.
Runaways looks so interesting. Love that cover
ReplyDeleteI love that cover too! I need to get to that one...
DeleteNow that I'm looking at your list, I'm realizing I don't think I've ever seen you mention Saga. You're a sci-fi fan so I'm just kinda curious if/why you're not interested in that one?
ReplyDeleteI do remember your reviews for Alex and Ada though and that you liked those. It does have some nice covers!
I've been kinda let down by a lot of graphic novels and have become kinda disenchanted. I love being able to look at pretty pictures, but it's hard to find ones that have art I like and are my kinda story. I'm going to try the next volume of Y: The Last Man at some point and see how that goes since I read that recently.
I almost added Saga... but I knew it'd be on everyone's list lol so I skipped it. I am interested in it although it's one of those cases where the hype machine works against it, at least in my eyes. I should read it though, I probably will love it.
DeleteI get that, I used to review more graphic novels and stuff and I haven't read one in months. There's just not a lot out there that appeals to me? Let me know if you like Y- I think that one's post- apoc? If it's good I may get it.
I need to read more graphic novels! Alex & Ada and Paper Girls look really good. I'll have to check those out.
ReplyDeleteAlex and Ada was really good. And I have high hopes for Paper Girls.
DeleteI'm going to have a hard week commenting on everyone's posts as I have no interest in graphic novels, comics or picture books so I'm off on another rogue topic! I have however heard of Tintin on your page which is something! I used to read a lot of him when I was younger and I love Snowy!
ReplyDeleteHa ha tintin is the best. I could have maybe filled my post w/ Tintin books...
DeleteI have not read any of these (I don't read many graphic novels) but Tin Tin is extremely popular at my library. The Amish love that series as well as Asterix and Little Lulu.
ReplyDeleteIs it? that's good to know, I wasn't sure if a lot of people were still reading Tintin.
DeleteIt looks like a couple of these might work for my school library. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten.
I hope so. Thanks!
DeleteI've never been too into graphic novels or comics, but that first one - Alex + Ada - that might just make my maybe someday list. Looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteAlex and Ada- give it a shot. :)
DeleteA friend of mine is reading Alex + Ada and says that it is a great book. I also forgot about the Thunderbolts. I'll have to check that one out. I like it when Marvel does more of their second tier characters in books. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThunderbolts was dark but I like how madcap it got. A very short run with a lot going on. And Alex and Ada I think is a great book.
DeleteI also want to read Runaways some day.
ReplyDeleteI love Paper Girls! Definitely a must-read.
I'd never even heard of Thunderbolts but now I'm totally going to check it out.
Yes to Runaways!
DeleteRunaways looks awesome and I've not seen it before. I've only heard good things about Alex and Ada and need to give it a try. Thunderbolts looks cool as well. Great list Greg!
ReplyDeleteI hope Runaways is good, and I highly recommend Alex and Ada to you!
DeleteI've heard so many great things about Alex + Ada, I'll have to try it! :)
ReplyDeleteLauren @ Always Me
I liked it.
DeleteI don't think I've even read 10 graphic novels (not counting sequels) to fill a list like this! :) Have thought about trying Paper Girls since I love Saga.
ReplyDeletePaper Girls seems very popular and I'm so curious!
DeleteI haven't read any of these yet but I lknow I have most of them on my TBR pile, I really want to get to Alex+Ada! Thanks for stopping by my TTT :)
ReplyDeleteHope you like Alex and Ada if you get a chance to check em out.
DeleteI keep going back and forth with myself over Runaways. Sometimes I think I have to get a hold of it right now and other times I've convinced myself I don't want it. (Seriously, I should just give it a shot and put it out of my misery!) I'd never heard of Thunderbolts before, but I'm definitely going to have to go hunt it down, because it looks AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteThat Thunderbolts arc is awesome, if you get a chance to read those I highly recommend. It's kinda like Suicide Squad in a sense I guess with the whole villains as heroes thing, except they're not really trying to be heroes lol. And I'm the same w/ Runaways- it's been out a while and I've never read it yet!
DeleteI will definitely look into Alex and Ada. And I forgot about Tintin, I loved Tintin when I was a child!
ReplyDeleteI always loved Tintin too. And Alex and Ada you can't go wrong.
DeleteThe cover for Runaways is stunning! I loved Tintin as a child. It's big in Quebec. I think I read them in French. You've got me real curious about Alex and Ada.
ReplyDeleteI like that cover too. And yes to Tintin! I've heard he's still big over in Europe too- I love the clean art and the sense of adventure combined with the more vintage times- I think they're quite educational.
DeletePaper Girls is everywhere today and it's my first time hearing about it! I need to add it to my tbr shelf! LOVE Tintin so I'd love to read more of those adventures ♥ I just need to read more graphic novels period!
ReplyDeletePaper Girls is like on my buy this next list lol, I NEED to read it. And Tintin- I have several of those and love reading them. I need MORE!
DeleteAlex and Ada looks interesting, and I've never seen it or heard of it before! I haven't really gotten into graphic novels yet, with the exception of TinTin and Asterix (which TBH I forgot would both count as graphic novels), but I've got several on my TBR list, including Saga and also Marissa Meyer's forthcoming Wires & Nerve, set in the Lunar Chronicles universe.
ReplyDeleteI focused on children's picture books this week. It was nice to have a chance to return to some of my favorites. Sometimes I miss having a young child to read to!
I haven't taken the plunge w/ Saga yet, maybe soon? And Alex and Ada I think you might like. It's thought provoking in some ways. Tintin I've always loved and need more!
DeletePaper Girls looks really good!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my TTT post: https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2017/01/top-ten-tuesday-top-eleven-coffee-table.html
I think so!
DeleteThose look good, don't they? I like the artworks. It reminds me how its been like forever since I opened up a comic
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a graphic novel in a while, but some of these are on my list and I need to get to them.
DeleteThe Alex and Ada books look good. I've seen positive reviews for them around the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
They are quite good...
DeleteI don't read many graphic novels, but the drawings in them are always so beautiful. I wonder how long it takes an artist to complete one book? Fun picks this week - I think I need to look into The Knights of the Dinner Table, they sound like they would be fun!
ReplyDeleteKnights of the Dinner table is a blast, they're B&W and very minimalist in style but they're quite funny, especially if you or anyone you know has played roleplaying games as they are a spoof of those.
DeleteI don't read a lot of graphic novels, but some of those look really cool. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading as many...
DeleteThese are all new to me but I'll definitely be looking a few up! Alex and Ada looks amazing! I LOVE the covers! Great list :D
ReplyDeleteHere are my Top Ten!
Thanks Tracy! Alex and Ada is good!
DeleteI really want to pick up Papergirls. It sounds like a fantastic read. Thanks for all the other recs!
ReplyDeleteI need to get to Paper Girls as soon as possible!
DeleteReally need to catch up on Alex and Ada, got a couple of volumes sat waiting to be read.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like them.
DeleteI did not do a list today for myself, I asked my daughter if she wanted to help and list her favorite books!
ReplyDeleteI never read a comic book.So The only ones I read were the VA and Percy Jackson graphic novels. But we did something a little different. Allyson added some comics she read on her list.

Tintin in Scotland! Cool!
ReplyDeletehttps://hopewellslibraryoflife.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/top-ten-tuesday-coffee-table-books-i-want-to-own/
That's the most recent one I've read, and I liked it. Nice to see Scotland make an appearances.
DeleteI don't personally read the graphic novels, but I've heard great things about Papergirls.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's good!
DeleteI am not familiar with these books so can't express an opinion. I realized as I did this post that I've read more graphic novels than I realized initially.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT Graphic Novels
I haven't read one in a few months, and this topic reminded me of some I want to try!
DeleteI've seen you mention Alex + Ada before and I remember thinking how great it looked. I really do need to check it out. I love the look of the TinTin Adventures too!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Alex and Ada and I think personally it's agreat place to start if you want to try GN's, especially if a library has it.
DeleteNice! I don't really explore much in the realm of graphic novels so I've never even heard of any of these, but they look very interesting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping Michelle!
DeleteI've read very little graphic novels over the recent years. The only one here I recognize is TinTin. I mean, that's classic!
ReplyDeleteTintin is the bomb! I love 'em...
DeleteTiiiin Tiiiin. Excuse me while I am crushed under this wave of nostalgia. I loved those books, as a kid I used to borrow them over and over from the library.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I know? I still like Tintin's, I like how he travels all over and the art is so clean.
DeletePaper Girls looks awesome because anything 80's + girl power is definitely something I'd be into!!
ReplyDeleteI read Alex + Ada last year. I have been meaning to pick up Paper Girls for the longest.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these, but Alex + Ada looks SO GOOD!! Paper Girls looks great too. :D
ReplyDeleteAh, I love that montage of Alex + Ada covers! What a great series. I can't believe I forgot about Runaways -- great series, at least for the first several volumes. :) I really enjoyed Paper Girls too.
ReplyDeleteLisa @ Bookshelf Fantasies
I really liked the first volume of Paper Girls (although I think it's a pretty polarizing read) and quite enjoyed Alex + Ada vols. 1 and 2. I need to finish that series! Runaways is one I've been meaning to read for aaaaages but haven't gotten around to it simply because there are so many volumes to get through.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for a funny, sarcastic contemporary comic, I recommend Giant Days!
I've only read the first volume of Alex+Ada so I need to catch up - it is really good and the art is so beautiful!! Runaways is one I'm interested in that I had completely forgotten about. I really like Saga by Vaughn but was bored by Y: The Last Man (unpopular opinion!) o I'm curious how Runaways will shake out! The World of Edena is not one I am familiar with that looks really interesting!
ReplyDeleteAs I'm not a graphic novel or comic book reader, these are all unfamiliar to me, but I am curious in one I have on my shelf which is a Marvel published novelization of Northanger Abbey (Jane Austen). It looks like it'd be a cool read - and I bet graphic novels are quick reads too!
ReplyDeleteI forgot all The Knights Of the Dinner Table, and The Order Of the Stick. I have to add those on GR. Thanks!
