The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
The warm temps continued this week and it was HOT early on. Muggy too- but it got better later in the week. Still feels like summer. I'm in fall mode though on the blog, planning out posts for October and looking at some of the fun stuff happening in the blogosphere for fall. I've got a few posts in the can for SciFi Month in November as well. That looks like it's going to be a lot of fun this year, over 30 people have already signed up I guess. Check it out here.
I had a good reading week too and mostly stayed off Netflix. I'm not really binging anything at the moment although this past week's Top Ten posts gave me some ideas for new shows to watch. What is everyone watching- any suggestions? The other big news locally is the Renaissance Festival is back in town- I haven't been over there yet but will be soon.
This past week I reviewed Vicarious and I read The Girl From The Sea. That review will be up soon and I'm currently reading The Incident on the Bridge.
And I'm listening to...
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
That Dragon's lair looks amazing! I haven't seen any of the Underworld films either but that trailer makes me think I might want to?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I love it! And I'm thinking the same thing about Underworld!
DeleteYeah it was hot and humid here too. Patiently waiting for fall weather. I actually started a new show on Netflix finally. I started Dexter and liking it. I can't wait for all the fall shows to come on though. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteIt actually cooled off here tonight and it's beautiful out - kinda cool and windy. Yay for new shows!
DeleteI still had the AC on yesterday, but fall is definitely on the way. Leaves are beginning to change and apple season is underway, too. Fall seems to put me in the mood to read classics and I've been reading Germinal by Emile Zola for the last several days. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThe AC's been on here too- off an on. We were quite muggy for a while. Our leaves haven't changed much yet but I've seen a bit. And I do read by season a bit, my mood seems to change depending on time of year.
DeleteIt's warm here too, but we're definitely cooling down (thankfully). I like the hot weather, but I'm ready for fall. I just don't want winter!
ReplyDeleteThe cover of Nerve is cool - took me a good minute to figure out what the book was called lol!!
So we're finally watching desperate housewives (it's in hulu) and I'm really enjoying it. A lot more than I thought I would.
Have a great week Greg!
It's cooled here some. I'll take it. And I know about that cover- it took me a minute to figure it out too. Glad you found something good- I don't have Hulu but they seem to have lots of shows.
DeleteI'm still making my way through season 2 of Bloodline on Netflix. That is one messed up family. I'm ready for the weather to match my spirit, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAren't they? Those Rayburns... I kinda like John even though a lot of people didn't like him in S2. And the younger brother- drawing a blank on his name- he's a glorious mess isn't he lol? I like that show...
DeleteYep, still feels like summer here too. I don't normally plan posts according to season or holiday, but I do have one vampire book review that I scheduled to go up in October cuz I might as well w/ Halloween so close lol, and I was thinking of doing some more creature themed cover posts, maybe a vampire book rec post or something.
ReplyDeleteThat pulp book must be pretty intense considering sale to minors was forbidden??! But I guess considering it's title is "Nympho's Shame Pit"... Lol.
Have fun at the Renaissance Festival!
Vampires and October- that's a good combo. Do some creature posts- I'd love to see 'em. I want to do some monster themed posts in October too if all goes well. I did vampires last week but felt like I was only scratching the surface- so many good ones.
DeleteI know right about the pulp cover. I saw that one and was like um, yeah. Okaaaay then. Times were different apparently...
I love the Ren faire! One of my favorite times of years.
Congrats on staying off of Netflix for a little while. I just returned to Netflix after a couple months without. Oh how I've missed it. :P
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous that the Renaissance Festival is back in town near you! The closest one we have is over an hour away and no public transport goes up there. Makes it super hard to get up there without a car.
I'm doing good on Netflix! I keep getting these emails that I have new shoes waiting. lol but I'm getting a lot more stuff read. :)
DeleteHey there. You've reminded me I planned to get Netflix when I moved. I'm yet to experience the phenomenon but am really keen to do some bingeing.
ReplyDeleteKeen to hear more about The Incident on the Bridge. I've seen it around and am intrigued.
I hope you like it when you get it. So many choices...
DeleteAnd I just finished Incident!
I spy Rogue One! I can't wait to watch that. And Vicarious! I liked that one - it might be my favorite of the author's books. I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Greg!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful weekend. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yay for Rogue One!! I liked Vicarious too...
DeleteI'm intrigued by Swamp Painting. So eerie and mysterious.
ReplyDeleteOf course I had to find another show on Netflix, while waiting for Season 5 of Longmire...I stumbled upon an Australian show called Offspring. The family is dysfunctional, naturally, and one of its members, Nina, is an obstetrician.
I finished the pilot and now I'm hunkering down for more.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and let's hope our temperatures cool way down.
I thought so too. I like the mysteriousness a bit... Offspring sounds good. If there's one thing about Netflix it's the sheer variety- I have discovered so many shows. And it's nice to seeAussie shows, European dramas, I love it.
DeleteI started Stranger Things on Netflix but I'm not very far in. I also started re-watching Merlin, for when I want something lighthearted.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Hope you like Stranger Things!
DeleteI've always wanted to attend a Renaissance Festival. eep, I want to try Stranger Things. Well, now I have Zepplin in my head, off to Youtube...lol Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun. And I liked Zepparella- never heard of 'em but I had Zeppelin in my head too after that. :)
DeleteI haven't watched a Zepparella video in three or four years. Thanks for bringing them back to my attention. I wonder if they are still together? It has been hot and humid here, too, but we haven't gotten any respite yet. Have a marvellous week. :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered them, and it looks like they go through lead singers a bit. Great tribute band though- love their version of this song. They rock.
DeleteYou've got me curious about The Girl From The Sea. I just wrapped up watching The Blacklist on Netflix. I love Spader. Was so mad at where it left me hanging though. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Ha ha. I read The Girl From The Sea last week and liked it. I'll be reviewing it next week...
DeleteThe Girl form the Sea looks really good. I look forward to your review. We have lovely September weather here. Clear blue skies but a bit of a bite/freshness in the air. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI'll have a review for that next week. I liked it! Hope your weather cooperates!
DeleteThose are some great looking books Greg. ‘The Girl From The Sea’ and ‘The Incident on the Bridge’ definitely grabbed my attention right away.
ReplyDeleteAnd the ‘Night School Legacy’ also looks and sounds great.
Have a great week and happy reading!
Thank you. The Girl From The Sea was quite good. And I am really liking the Night School books!
DeleteHave a nice week and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYou too Melliane!
DeleteI'm interested to see what you thought of The Girl From The Sea. I'll be on the lookout.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts will be up next week. I liked it, and it had a twist. :)
DeleteDid you actually say you haven't seen an Underworld movie????? o.O Don't see ANY until you've seen the first, uncut of course. Just do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I know you anymore.... ;)
You've seen this one movie called "The Matrix", right? Came out about the same time.... (I make only myself laugh, sorry!!!!!!)
I know? Am I bad?? I've heard all about them. I need to get on that stat. I'll have to track down the first one...
DeleteUm, the Matrix? It sounds familiar...?
Always love stopping by to see the wonderful pictures you find. I've been in a spooky mood, watching A haunting. But the Hubby and I have also been watching the new seasons of Red vs Blue on youtube. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat return of summer was disappointing! Today is very autumnal though, hope it is on your side of the mitten too!
ReplyDeleteWe were considering taking the boy to the Ren Fest this year. I think he would get a kick out of it.
Night School Legacy looks good!
I am loving the cool weather and yes, it is very nice over here- both yesterday and today. I wish it would stay like this!
DeleteI am liking the Night School books so far!
Today is the first day it finally is cooling off. This weak was BRUTAL! Poor kids were DYING in school it was so hot. I don't know how we did it as kids with no AC in school unless it was never this hot.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Fall, I am so excited it is almost here :) The weather better corporate, I don't want to be winter jipped again.
They just had the Ren Fair in NY but always miss it. Really want to take the kids one year, maybe when they are a little older I think my daughter would enjoy it more than my son.
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
It has finally cooled off here. It's gorgeous with cooler temps and a ncie breeze- awesome. And yes I'm totally ready for fall.
DeleteThe Ren faire is nice I hope you get a chance to get over there sometime.
It's been raining all week here and this weekend is no different so I'm totally using that as an excuse to stay in and read. If my shows were back I'd be spending my days binge watching new episodes but there's still a few weeks to go!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good excuse! It's beautiful here today but I might read anyway ha ha!
DeleteI'm glad to see I'm the only one who know the The Night School serie ! I'm looking forward to reading your review of NERVE ~
ReplyDeleteNerve is my next read. And I'm loving Night School. Have you read all of them?
DeleteNo I need to read Legacy ... But I'm definitely going to do it ! I think I'll just reread the first two books first ~
DeleteIt's been insanely hot this week too - on Tuesday it was hotter and more humid than it's been ALL Summer and THAT is saying something! It's cooled off though so I'm much happier now LOL! It's funny you've gotten your Netflix binging under control and I just fell into a new binging cycle haha! I'm watching Better Call Saul, The Ranch and rewatching Friends :D
ReplyDeleteThat Dragon Lair picture is AMAZING! I spent WAY too long staring at it ♥ Happy weekend Greg! xx
Yeah the beginning of the week here was bad- like a swamp. Humid. And now it's awesome- the humidity went away and it's sunny and gorgeous. I've heard of those shows and I think I watched the first Ranch...
DeleteIs that dragon lair cool or what? I had to share it...
Oh man, it has still been crazy hot here too! I can't wait to get a little bit of cooler weather and perhaps a breeze! Congrats for staying of Netflix a bit! Haha! I'm super interested in Vicarious so I really need to go read your thoughts on that one! Have a fantastic week :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
It's finally cooler here. Have a great week!
DeleteYeah that one's pretty out there lol. And I haven't seen ANY of the Underworld movies!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I don't even own a TV or have a streaming subscription so I can't recommend anything. I love the (copper?) roofs in the market picture.
ReplyDeleteI've also received A LOT of new show ideas thanks to Top Ten Tuesday! Looking forward to your review of The Girl from the sea and hope you enjoy The incident on the bridge. Know it's on my TBR list. Hope you will have a good week ahead. Here's my Sunday Headlines: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/09/the-sunday-headlines-1.html
ReplyDeleteThe Renaissance Festival sounds like so much fun! I'm really, really hoping to finally go to one this year. Have a great time! :D
ReplyDeleteWe've had hot, muggy weather too. It still feels like summer here. I've always wanted to go to a Renaissance Festival but I haven't yet. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThis week's TTT gave me lots of show ideas too. I don't watch all that much TV anymore - I'd rather read most of the time - but I definitely binge now and again.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
It really has been the strangest weather. I can't remember ever having 80 degree weather in Sept. The side benefit to that is my tomatoes are finally coming in and I grew a green pepper (yes, 1 green pepper!)
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the SciFi event! SciFi is not my norm, but this sounded like fun and will push me to discover some new reading! I'm excited! Thanks for sharing about it last week! I've been looking at all sorts of best scifi reads.
Have a great week!
Your Sunday Post is fun and random---in a good way. You never know what you will accidentally stumble upon here!
ReplyDeleteTemps have been pretty nice here and I am enjoying it. I wish it could be in the 70's all the time...lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Stormi
You always have some of the best pictures! The Renaissance Festival started back here last weekend as well. I'm hoping to get out there this week myself. I just started watching Game of Thrones, finished season 1, and am just three episodes into season 2. Have a great week, can't wait to see your cover characteristic topic, and thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post earlier!
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided how I feel about the new Underworld film. The trailer looks pretty good, but I honestly don't remember the last one. Only the first three stand out for me. I hope it's good.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a good start on the fall season blog wise. I wish I was so prepared. I had hoped to make some headway in that regard this past weekend, but it wasn't meant to be. I have always wanted to attend a Renaissance Festival. I hope you are able to and have fun if you do! Take care, Greg. Stay cool and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but all I could focus on was Nympho's Shame Pit. lol!
ReplyDeleteGood that the books had more pull than Netflix this past week! Yay for books!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see Vicarious I can't help it - my interest is piqued! But I really, really need to concentrate on my own list this month without adding more into it!
ReplyDeleteNerve looks so good - can't wait to see your thoughts.
Well done on not so much TV this week - I wish I could say the same but unfortunately the US Open has held far too much pull ;)
Here's my weekly round-up : #IMWAYR
The Girl From the Sea has an interesting plot and reminds me of Before I Go To Sleep -- perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm already thinking ahead to October/November posts also!
ReplyDeleteThe Girl from the Sea sounds like a good book - look forward to some of your upcoming reviews. Happy reading this week!
Netflix is well used in our house. Narcos is currently on our viewing schedule, after finishing all of The Killing.
ReplyDeleteBoth Nerve and Night School Legacy look intriguing reads.
Have a great reading week :-)
I got my bing watching in and trying to get through weekends of family stuff now. *sigh* Our weather has started to cool at night but still hot and yucky during the day.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
I am on the same page with the weather I am ready for the fall, the muggy weather needs to go!!
ReplyDeleteSame here, it still feels like summer. It's halfway through September and it still feels way too warm.
ReplyDeleteThat renaissance festival sounds like fun, I hope you have time to stop by.
That Dragon's Lair picture looks like it can be used for a roleplaying game. That swamp picture is very pretty with the dark atmosphere. I hope you're having a great week!
I live in Texas so it definitely still feels summery here as well, but I'm getting into fall mode. Whew, kudos to you for staying off Netflix. I've had a hard time with that lately. haha. I've been watching more of The Ranch and I'm really liking it! I think I have only 2 episodes left to watch and it's just been getting better and better as it goes along. So I definitely recommend that one.
ReplyDeleteRenaissance festival, is like where people dress up all medieval? It sounds great fun if it is!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it does still feel like summer. Hopefully it'll become Autumn soon! The cover for The Girl From The Sea looks beautiful! I'll have to see what that's about. :)
