This week has been a big improvement over last, weather wise anyway. Lots of sun and warmer temps too- about time! I read a bit this week and got some books I've been wanting to read. Also the third Country Club Murders book comes out on Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to that. Didn't do as much writing though other than blog stuff. I've been listening to Dorothy a bit- I like their sound and she has an amazing voice. And I discovered a new cyberpunk inspired playlist this week.
This week I talked about spoilers and how they affect my reviewing and I had a few show recaps as well as Bookcover Spotlight. I'll be reviewing Star Wars: Bloodline on Thursday (have LOTS of thoughts on that one) and will be talking about Villains (and why we love 'em) on Tuesday. Did anyone see The 100 this week? Crazy.
Dark Matter S2 returns on July 1st. And 12 Monkeys is now on Hulu. Here's what I've been reading or have read- and there is a giveaway going on Goodreads for the anthology if you're interested.
I love this scene especially at the 1:00 mark when the girl is lighting up.
This is pretty great. Plus if you haven't seen the movie- this pretty much covers it.

DeleteDazed and Confused was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Haha! I'm not sure how I never realized until now that the girl with the guitar is Milla Jovovich from The Fifth Element/Resident Evil.

DeleteI struggle with spoilers often because we're behind in a lot of shows here in Australia. I 'like' pages like 'Entertainment Weekly' on Facebook and more often than not they share things on FB which end up being spoilers... I love this show Person of Interest but knew a key character died months before it aired here because EW included a pic in their FB update at the time.

ReplyDeleteI always love the Youtube videos where they countdown problems with movies, shows, etc. I couldn't sit through the entire thing but it was funny! Great stuff this week!!
You would love Dazed and Confused I think. the music alone is worth it. I only saw it a few years ago myself, but yeah... and yeah that video was super long but I couldn't resist. :)

DeleteYay sun and warm weather! I've actually had some random thunderstorms, so it's been a bit cooler. However, the thunderstorms were the perfect at setting the mood for the book I happened to be reading those couple days lol.

I like that there seems to be levels in the floating cars pic because I've always thought about that. Like, if everyone was just flying around willy-nilly, that's just chaos and accidents waiting to happen lol.
I love it when weather cooperates with what we're reading. There are certain times gloomy weather has enhanced a book if the subject matter is like that.
DeleteYou know, I think you're right about the pic. I had noticed the stoplight lol but hadn't really thought about that -although I have wondered in the past when I see art like that how do they all know where to go? Sometimes maybe a cool image isn't always all that thought out? Imagine the chaos of sky traffic though... it is kinda fun to think about. :)
YAY for the sun and warmer weather, Greg! We've had much nicer weather, too, and I feel like I'm living again. More energy, for one, and I want to spend time outside, which is good.

DeleteI love fantasy / SF artwork so it's fun to find, and I always hope that someone might find a piece they like- it can definitely inspire the imagination (and I did write a flash fiction based on one) so I know it happens. :) There's just something so imaginative about it.

DeleteTHAT was a fun compilation of stuff. I remember seeing Dazed & Confused when it first came out. I'm pretty sure "Low Rider" was in the soundtrack, yes? And "Slow Ride," for sure.

I just finished Bloodline and it does provide some answers, mostly about Leia and Han. I'm not sure I liked it quite as much as the one she wrote last year, but it was decent.

ReplyDeleteI am too- I liked the holiday anthology a lot. Bloodline wasn't bad, I didn't love it but if you're a fan of The Force awakens you might really like it. Heir of the Jedi and Lost Stars were both good Star Wars books I thought.

I look forward to your flash fiction, whether a continuation of Trust Issues or new one. I'm really considering flash fiction. I love to write and have played around with it since I was 5 years old :) but never commit, so ultra-short, no commitment flash fiction might appeal to me.

Quite a Novel Idea
I am waiting on more Trust Issues! Thanks for the Dagobah ambient sound link. I recently stumbled upon a bunch of Star Trek ambient sound Youtube videos. That hover bike is stellar. Once they get steering and braking systems in place, I will want one! Our weather has remained chilly and rainy, but I prefer that to 90s with humidity, so I'm good. Have a wonderful week. :)

I want to try the Claudia Gray Star Wars book because I like her writing! Great haul, and love all the pictures and video clips you always share!
ReplyDeleteThis is my 2nd Claudia Gray Star Wars novel and she's pretty good. I might have liked the first one a little better but if you like Leia or are interested at all, it's probably a good choice.

ReplyDeleteGreat discussion post regarding spoilers, that's something I'm often conflicted on. I'd love to go in depth on certain reviews for memory sake, but I also don't like to read spoilers in reviews by others so leave them out of my own posts. Its a toughie!
I'm intrigued by Summer Days and Summer Nights - on the fence about ordering it as of now though. I did read, and still own, the winter edition so it would be nice for it to have a companion I suppose.

Thanks, and I agree. Nicer weather definitely puts me in a better mood- I need sunlight although drearier weather does have its place and its own beauty I guess. Just don't want it too much lol. That's exactly my problem with spoilers- I don't want to spoil anyone but at the same time I want to talk in depth. :)
