Bookcover Spotlight #44

This week I'm taking a look at Dune. To be honest I'm not a fan, I read it once and it wasn't my thing- but I thought it had a distinctive cover. The white robed figures and some kind of base in the background...

There are a few different covers as well. This one is a newer version, but I like it- it's obviously a view from on high, looking down on two figures traversing the sand. I think it's effective.

  1. I've actually never read Dune but on one of my favorite shows they did a puppet show recreating the book this season so I had to stop in. I like the second cover a lot.

  2. I've never read this one myself but I've heard a lot about it so I'm somewhat curious. I do quite like the covers for it, that first one has a very classic sci-fi feel to it! I'm not even sure if I have it on my tbr shelf but I should give it a chance. We'll have to compare notes on it when I do read it :)

  3. I looooooove these books. A friend in college gave me the first three in a paperback boxed set, and then after that I bought the nhext three from a SciFi book if the month club I was in. Way back when. Do they even have those anymore? Anyway, I reread the first three in prep for the next three, and then when I made it to Chapterhouse, I was thinking, WHAT THE HELL. I was 30 years old and it confused the hell out of me! Then when I was 49 I read them all again and Chapterhouse made complete sense to me. Ha ha. So we do get smarter in old age. I have not read any of the titles his s sin and that other guy wrote. Have you? I am thinking if reading them all again, and trying to read the first one his son wrote.

  4. I haven't read this one. I keep hearing that it's difficult to get through. The cover is good, plain, but good! :)

  5. Upon first glance the top cover reminded me of The Lion King until I saw the buildings in the distance and the white figures.
